Chapter 3
Golu walked to Krishna’s room and saw her sitting on the bed.
Krishna tum theek ho? He asked worriedly.
Krishna looked up confused. Golu told her he knew what had happened earlier and how worried Sayyam was. Krishna told him she was slightly embarrassed by what had happened, but was ok.
Muje pata tha tum theek hogi, ye Sayyam bohat overreact karta hai, drama queen! he joked lightening the mood. They both started laughing.
Yuvaani had finally arrived and walked in. Arey aap dono kyu hasre ho?…acha choro waise bhi Krishna hume party ke liye ready hona hai! Golu bhaiyya aap jao! She pushed him out the room and closed the door.
Both girls started getting ready. Yuvaani pulled out a small black dress for Krishna.
Yuvaani ye kapra kiya hai? Krishna held the tiny piece of cloth. Yuvaani laughed
Krishna tum bilkul behanji ho!..ye dress hai tumhare liye, Yuvaan ne send kiya hai. Yuvaani winked at a blushing Krishna. Both girls joked around as they got ready for the party.
It was evening. The party was in full swing. Sayyam sat at the bar observing everyone. He wore black trousers and a short navy blue blazer over a black shirt, sharp-looking and well fitted. Yuvaan was already completely drunk dancing wildly among his friends. Sayyam could see Baby constantly trying to cling on to him. That girl looked like trouble. He took a sip of his drink, it was his second one and he was also feeling a bit light headed. His eyes kept wondering around, as if waiting for someone. That was until she walked in. His eyes locked on her. She wore a form fitting black tube dress enhancing her porcelain white skin. Her silky hair was left open, flowing freely over her bare shoulders and back. She looked radiant.
His eyes followed her as she went and hugged Yuvaan. He forced her to drink and pulled her to dance with him. Sayyam could tell she was forcing herself to do this. She was getting pushed around as people danced around her. She looked uncomfortable as Yuvaan’s friends danced too close to her. She was close to tears, but still stood there looking helpless. Sayyam looked on, anger building inside him. He waited for someone to help her, but no one noticed her. He couldn’t take it anymore and walked up to her.
Sayyam was furious. He grabbed her arm and aggressively pulled Krishna away from the dance floor.
Sayyam choro…muje dard ho raha hai! Krishna tried to break free from his tight grip.
He took her to a quiet corner and pushed her against the wall, turning away from her. Krishna’s heart was pounding, seeing Sayyam this angry. She could see him pacing up and down with his hands on his hips. He was trying to calm himself down as he took deep breaths.
S…S..Sayyam? She spoke with caution as she tried to step towards him.
But before she could complete her step, Sayyam turned around and grabbed both her arms pulling her close to him. Tum pagal ho?!…can you not stand up for yourself?! He said. Krishna looked into his eyes puzzled.
His eyes were filled with anger, but there was something else she could not explain. Why was he so worried about her? She realised how close he was to her, making her feel uneasy.
Pehle mere haath choro! She said it sternly much to the surprise of Sayyam. He let her go.
Bilkul aise hi tum unke saath kyu nahi boli? Kyu bewakoofoon ke tarha khari rahi uddar? He asked her through gritted teeth.
Krishna knew he was right, but what could she have done? Sayyam woh Yuvaan ke dost the…main tamasha nahi shuru karna chahti thi She tried to explain.
Sayyam sighed in frustration. Theek hai jo karna hai tum karo…main ja raha hoon! Sayyam turned to leave.
Krishna didn’t want him to leave her alone. Wait!…um…tum mera saath thori der dance kar skate ho?…woh actually muje phir se na tang karne lag jai woh ladke agar main akeli wapis gai
Sayyam looked back at Krishna surprised by what he just heard. Krishna was looking down biting her bottom lip, embarrassed by her own suggestion. A half smile formed on Sayyams lips as he admired the reddish hue that had formed on her cheeks. His anger melted away replaced by a sudden urge to tease her. She looked so adorable. Sayyam couldn’t help but offer his hand to Krishna. She looked up at him flustered and hesitantly extended her hand. She lightly placed her hand onto his. Her small hand fit perfectly into his larger one as he wrapped his long fingers around hers. A tingling sensation passed through their bodies the moment their fingers touched, leaving them both feeling lightheaded He pulled Krishna towards the dance floor, not taking his eyes off of her.
He found himself drowning into her deep brown eyes as the world around them disappeared. A gentle breeze hit their faces as they stood alone on the dance floor. Krishna stood stiff not knowing what to do. Sayyam chuckled to himself cherishing her innocent face. He gently grabbed Krishnas hand and placed it on his shoulder. Their eyes were still locked on each other. They dared not look away fearing the other would disappear. He took a step closer to Krishna and placed his hand on the curve of her waist. He lifted her other hand and held it firmly.
The music started.
Saans me teri saans mili toh mujhe saans aayi
Mujhe saans aayi, mujhe saans aayi
Saans me teri saans mili toh mujhe saans aayi
Mujhe saans aayi, mujhe saans aayi
Sayyam started moving to the music, guiding Krishna along. He slide his arm further along Krishnas waist and pulled her closer. Krishna let out a gasp as she felt their bodies collide with each other. She felt herself succumb under his intense gaze, feeling weak in the knees. She moved her arm around his neck for support as he tightened his grip around her, moulding their bodies together.
Rooh ne chhu li jism ki khushboo tu jo paas aayi
Tu jo paas aayi, tu jo paas aayi
Saans me teri saans mili toh mujhe saans aayi
Mujhe saans aayi, mujhe saans aayi
Krishna moved her head to the side to avoid his gaze, making her cheek almost touch his. Sayyam could feel her breathe softly on his neck as he became engulfed in her sweet scent. She smelt so good. He felt her softness all over him. He nuzzled his face between her neck and shoulder closing his eyes, feeling intoxicated.
Kab tak hosh sambhale koi
Hosh ude toh ud jaane do
Dil kab seedhi raah chala hai
Raah mude toh mud jaane do
Tere khayal me doob ke aksar achhi lagi tanhaai
Saans me teri saans mili toh mujhe saans aayi
Mujhe saans aayi, mujhe saans aayi
Krishna felt his lips lightly graze along her neck and shoulder. She was quickly losing herself under his touch. She tried to move away, but before she could break the connection, Sayyam twirled her around and bought her back to him. Her head gently landed on his chest, as he wrapped his arms around her shoulders, possessively. Their bodies continued to sway as one to the music.
Raat teri baahon me kate toh
Subah badi halki lagti hai
Aankh me rehne lage ho kya tum
Kyu chhalki chhalki lagti hai
Mujhko phir se chhu ke bolo
Meri kasam kya khaai
Saans me teri saans mili toh mujhe saans aayi
Mujhe saans aayi, mujhe saans aayi
She could hear his steady heartbeat, which soothed her. For the first time she felt safe and secure, warm in his embrace. She lifted her head and looked up at him. Sayyam felt so drawn to her. Her eyes were glittering with emotions. Her flushed cheeks and her slightly parted pink lips were driving him crazy. His face drew closer to hers, their noses lightly brushing each others. He placed a hand on her cheek, as she closed her eyes, letting the music take her away.
Rooh ne chhu li jism ki khushboo tu jo paas aayi
Tu jo paas aayi, tu jo paas aayi
Mujhe saans aayi, mujhe saans aayi
Tu jo paas aayi.
Their faces were only inches away when the music stopped and their dreamworld came crashing down back to reality. Krishna blinked a few times breaking the eye contact. She realised what was happening and peeled herself away from Sayyam, pushing him back in the process. Shock took over her as she placed her hand over her mouth, tears brimming her eyes, threatening to spill. She turned around and ran out the room. Sayyam stood in a daze. He looked on as Krishna ran out and was about to run after her when someone grabbed his arm and harshly pulled him to the side. Sayyam snapped back to reality and looked up to see Golu staring at him with disappointment.
Ye tum kya kar rahe the?! Golu whispered in anger not wanting anyone to hear.
He looked around to see pretty much everyone was completely drunk and out of it. He felt some relief knowing no one probably noticed Krishna and Sayyam. He pulled Sayyam outside.
Krishna ran to her room wiping her tears, but found it locked. She hastily knocked on the door until Yuvaani opened it. Yaar tum kya kar rahi ho, main Rohit ke saath hoon, tum abhi ke liye jao!
Krishna looked at Yuvaani desperately Please Yuvaani muje aane do an… Yuvaani slammed the door in her face before she could finish her sentence.
Krishna looked around. Where could she go? She wondered the house until she came across the outdoor pool. Much to her relief no one was there. She took her sandals off and walked to the pool. She sat on the edge, dipping her feet in the warm water. She let out a sigh, closing her eyes and tilted her head back. The earlier scenes of her and Sayyam flashed through her mind. Her eyes shot open. She felt butterflies in her stomach remembering how intimate she had been with Sayyam. She felt guilt, anger and a mix of emotions she could not decipher. You need to calm down Krishna, we were both just a little drunk, so we got a bit carried away, that’s all. She tried to convince herself.
Her thought process was interrupted when she heard laughter and whistling. She looked up to see Yuvaan, Baby and some friends come outside. They were drunk. Yuvaan was leaning onto Baby for support as they made their way towards her. Krishna quickly got up to leave. She did not want to deal with them.
Arey Krishna tum kaha ga rahi ho…Sayyam ke paas? Baby smirked at her.
Krishna was taken aback by her question, she knew something was not right about her. She could see how Baby’s arms were wrapped around Yuvaans waist. Krishna glared back at her.
Ye Yuvaan ne kuch ziyada drink kar liya hain, main isko uske kamre main le gati hoon She said. Krishna stepped forward to hold Yuvaan, but Baby nudged her back.
Krishna stumbled backwards and SPLASH. She slipped and landed in the pool. She struggled to keep herself up.
Baby looked on amused. Arey Yuvaan dekho Krishna swimming kar rahi hain.
Yuvaan who was not in his senses erupted in laughter. Krishna tum itni raat ko swimming kyu kar rahi jo?! Everyone around started laughing. No one was listening to Krishna and her cries for help.
Meanwhile Golu had taken Sayyam outside.
Sayyam pehle accident tha theek hai, par ab ye kya tha?! He questioned him.
Sayyam was clueless, he could not understand what just happened. He could not comprehend the thoughts and feelings that were passing through him. He dropped his head and ran his fingers through his hair in annoyed at himself. H..hum bas nashe…main the…tho isliye…
Golu grabbed Sayyams shoulders and shook him. Come to your senses Sayyam! Itna kuch thore se nashe main ho gata hain?!
Sayyam looked up with guilt and frustration in his eyes. Golu was about to say something when they heard someone screaming for help. They immediately ran towards the voice.
Sayyam saw Krishna drowning in the pool and without a second thought he dived in. He grabbed Krishna by the waist pulling her up, as she threw her arms around him, holding him tight. He carried her out. She was shaking violently in his arms, as he looked at her concerned. He gently put her down on one of the lounge chairs beside the pool. Golu quickly wrapped a towel around Krishna. Rubbing her arms, trying to calm her down. Sayyam looked on in desperation. He wanted to scoop her up and hold her in his arms until she felt safe and calm. Stop it Sayyam, what are you thinking?! He shook his head and was about to leave, when Golu stopped him. He gave him a towel to dry himself and told him to stay here with Krishna until he sorted Yuvaan and his friends out.
Main is bewakoof ko uske kamre tak chor ke aata hoon, aur baaki sab sunlo!…the party is over! Golu shouted.
Everyone groaned leaving. Golu grabbed Yuvaan and took him away. Baby stood there feeling satisfied, having enjoyed the show. She walked up to Sayyam putting her hand on his shoulder. He looked up at her confused.
Acha Sayyam tum Krishna ka acheee se khayaal rakna…ok? She said with a twisted smile, before turning around to leave. Sayyam stared at her suspiciously as she walked away.
Sayyam turned his attention back to Krishna. She was shivering, her arms hugging her knees and her head buried in the towel wrapped around her. He wanted to say something, anything that would make her feel better, but nothing came out. There was silence.
After what seemed like hours Krishna finally whispered M..main ander jaari hoon, muje thand lag ri hain. Sayyam barely heard her, as he saw her slowly get up to leave.
Tum wait karo Golu abhi aata hoga Sayyam said also getting up.
Nahi main theek hu Krishna insisted and took a step forward but lost her balance, falling into Sayyam’s arms.
Acha?…tum theek ho? He asked.
She could hear amusement in his voice. She shot him a dirty look and tried to balance herself, but she was feeling too weak. Sayyam saw her struggle and lifted her up in his arms.
Yeh kya kar rahe ho…utharo muje Sayyam! Krishna squirmed in his arms.
Chup! Itni stubborn na ho! I’ll take you to your room He said sternly.
Krishna shut up, she was too tired to argue with him anyway. Not a word was said or looks exchanged as he carried her. It was awkward. They arrived at her room, when Krishna remembered
Oh no!…iss room main tho Yuvaani aur Rohit hai, woh… Krishna trailed off suddenly feeling shy.
Sayyam muttered something to himself about Yuvaani being dead and cleared his throat. He walked to his room instead.
Sayyam gently put Krishna down on his bed. She looked on as Sayyam took some clothes out of his bag. Ye…inko pehlo, warna bimar ho jao gi.
Krishna looked up at Sayyam, he was looking away. She just couldn’t understand what was happening right now, but she quietly took the clothes.
And you can sleep here, I’ll sleep somewhere else He grabbed his bag about to walk out the room.
Sayyam! She called out.
He stopped, but did not turn around. Kya?
Krishna didn’t know why she stopped him. Woh…umm..actually..maine thank you kehna tha.
Krishna tumne kaha tha na ke hum dost hain…tho phir dosti main no thank yous Sayyam turned his head around and gave a small smile to Krishna.
She smiled back and nodded before he walked out, closing the door behind him.
She looked at the closed door Haan Sayyam hum dost hain she smiled to herself grateful for a friend like him, but deep down she couldn’t understand the slight disappointment she felt from his reply.
Precap: They head back home. Yuvaan and Krishna’s wedding begins.
