Third person’s POV
“Swara you be with Ma Papa these days. I’m going Delhi for a month” Varun spoke while looking for his files.
“Delhi? Suddenly? Anything important?” Swara asked arranging her clothes in the cupboard.
“Yes! You know, Mitra and Co. wants to invest in our project?”
“That’s nice” she remarked.
“That’s awesome!” he corrected.
“It’s a big project and I meed to leave tonight” he stressed the last word hoping she would tell him, tell him what he wanted to hear.
“Ah! Is it important?” she asked looking down, shyly.
“Yes”
“Then go” she laughed under neath.
“You are okay with it?” he asked seriously. He didn’t want to go leaving her.
“Yes go. It’s important for our company and don’t worry in your absence I’ll look after the meetings out here” she said assuringly, still busy in arranging their belongings.
“Yes” he looked down as he settled his files on the adjacent table.
“So? What’s the problem?” she asked and sat beside him on the couch.
“I don’t feel like going” he sighed.
“And why is that so?”
“I don’t feel like leaving Ansh, Ma, Papa and….” he lowered his gaze, avoiding her.
“Oho” she chuckles “And whom do you miss? Only these three?” she teased.
“Yes and and…. Ronie, Anna” he moved his hands, nervously.
“You miss our servants too?” Swara said making faces and widening her eyes.
“Ha! Even Riya”
“Hmm… Seems like you miss everyone. This is a serious case” she moved her hands as if there was a serious discussion going on.
“You won’t miss??” he pulled his eyebrows up and she lowered her gaze, shyly “Aunt?”
“Aunt?” his eyes widened as he realised she was teasing him “Swara, you’re gone. You are so damn gone. I won’t leave you”
They started running, with Swara leading and he followed. Varun got near her and was about to catch her when she threw a pillow and it hit his face.
“Swara” he yelled and hit her back with it. Swara threw another one and they kept fighting. After sometime, only the covers were left, the entire room was dusted with cotton.
When they realised that no pillows were left for them to crunch and hit with, they closed their eyes and lied down on the bed, laughing at their silly fight. The entire room was filled with laughter. Varun stopped and turned to Swara, who was still busy laughing. How much he missed her laugh, these two years!!.. He admired her beauty as the sun rays coming from the window made her face glow even more!!..
Her hairs falling on her face and disturbing him to watch his angel, his wife, his love, only his!!.. He smiled and tucked her hair locks behind her ears. He rubbed his thumb on her cheeks and she stopped laughing.
She looked into his eyes that carried love and affection. His deep black orbs, attracting and enchanting her. He kissed the top of her head in affection, her nose and cheeks that were carrying a tinge of pink colour. He moved his gaze down to her lips that were carrying spell. She closed her eyes in anticipation as his hot breath touched her face.
“Mom, Dad” Ansh called out suddenly from downstairs.
At the sudden jolt, their lips brushed and both got shocked. The room that was filled with laughter a minute ago turned into silence again, awkward silence. Swara kept tucking her hairs back, looking down.
“Coming, Ansh” Varun sighed and got up.
**5 hours later**
“Bye!” Varun kissed the top of her head and moved away, waving.
Pal bhar thahar jaao
Dil ye sambhal jaaye
Kaise tumhe roka karun
Meri taraf aata har gham phisal jaaye
Aankhon mein tum ko bharun
Bin bole baatein tumse karun
‘gar tum saath ho..
Agar tum saath ho
He moved towards the airport.
Behti rehti..
Nahar nadiya si teri duniya mein
Meri duniya hai teri chaahaton mein
Main dhal jaati hoon teri aadaton mein
‘gar tum saath ho
“Bye!” she waved back. After what happened in the evening, it was getting quite awkward for them to talk and look into each other. They used to steal glances but slowly, noticing that the other was busy in some work.
Teri nazron mein hai tere sapne
Tere sapno mein hai naraazi
Mujhe lagta hai ke baatein dil ki
Hoti lafzon ki dhokebaazi
Tum saath ho ya na ho kya fark hai
Bedard thi zindagi bedard hai
Agar tum saath ho
Agar tum saath ho
They avoided watch other as much as possible. Swara didn’t want Varun to go but she didn’t know why. She realised her love for him but didn’t want to admit.
Palkein jhapakte hi din ye nikal jaaye
Bethi bethi bhaagi phirun
Meri taraf aata har gham phisal jaaye
Aankhon mein tum ko bharun
Bin bole baatein tumse karun
‘gar tum saath ho
Agar tum saath ho
She felt good when he was with her. She recalled their moments together, their silly fights, their late night talks, their friendship.
Teri nazron mein hai tere sapne
Tere sapno mein hai naraazi
Mujhe lagta hai ke baatein dil ki
Hoti lafzon ki dhokebaazi
Tum saath ho ya na ho kya fark hai
Bedard thi zindagi bedard hai
Varun sits down on his seat and recalls Swara’s happy face, his love, her care, her never ending chats, her laughter today evening.
Agar tum saath ho
Dil ye sambhal jaaye
(Agar tum saath ho)
Har gham phisal jaaye
(Agar tum saath ho)
Din ye nikal jaaye
(Agar tum saath ho)
Har gham phisal jaaye
Varun sighs thinking about her and falls asleep.
**8 hours later**
Varun reached hotel at six in the morning. He smelled the fresh air of the city through the balcony and smiled. After freshening up, he took his mobile and switched it on. His wallpaper encrypting Swara’s picture. He smiled and kissed it.
“Should I call her?” he dialled his number “No, she must be sleeping. It’s better I don’t disturb her” he kept his phone aside and got busy in his project.
Haan.. In dino dil mera
Mujhse hai keh raha
Tu.. khwaab saja
Tu.. jee le zara
Hai tujhe bhi ijaazat
Kar le tu bhi mohabbat
Hai tujhe bhi ijaazat
Kar le tu bhi mohabbat
Swara stood at the balcony, looking at the rain, she smiled. She had started loving rain. The devout rain flowing through her silky smooth hairs and playing with her skin. She don’t know why, but when rain comes into her head the minute, she think of her childhood.
She hums “I have lived pain, and my life can tell: I only deepen the wound of the world when I neglect to give thanks the heavy perfume of wild roses in early July and the song of crickets on summer humid nights and the rivers that run and the stars that rise and the rain that falls and all the good things that a good God gives”
“Mam?” Ronnie called her.
“Yes?” she turns.
“Your coffee” he offered.
“Oh Yes, thank you” he nodded and left.
In dino dil mera
Mujhse hai keh raha
Tu.. khwaab saja
Tu.. jee le zara
Hai tujhe bhi ijaazat
Kar le tu bhi mohabbat
Hai tujhe bhi ijaazat
Kar le tu bhi mohabbat
She sipped her coffee, remembering Varun, his silly jokes, his care, love, affection, their bond and what mess they did to their room, during dusk. She hold the railing tight as she got butterflies in her stomach. She moved to her room and gazed her phone. She was acting like a teenage girl, constantly checking her phone every 5 minutes. She wanted to know whether he reached safe and sound.
As the clock struck 8, he called her and she jumped off the bed and kept on jumping hearing the ringtone. It wasn’t that she loved the ringtone, it was that he finally called. A small smile crept her face as she attended the call. But it got disconnected by mistake. She sighed and made a sad face. She hesitated but called back.
Beraang si hai padi zindagi
Kuchh rang to bharoon
Main apni tanhayi ke vaste
Ab kuchh to karoon
Aa…
Beraang si hai padi zindagi
Kuchh rang to bharoon
Main apni tanhayi ke vaste
Ab kuchh to karoon
Jab mile thodhi fursat
Jab mile thodhi fursat
Khud se kar le mohabbat
Hai tujhe bhi ijaazat
Kar le tu bhi mohabbat
“Sir, we need to leave. Meeting is scheduled at 9” Varun’s PA said. Varun was sitting on the bed and trying Swara’s number.
Usko chhupa kar main
Sabse kabhi le chaloon kahin door
Aankhon ke pyaalon se peeta rahoon
Uske chehre ka noor
Aa..
“The person you are calling is currently busy or out of coverage area. Please try after sometime” that’s what came from the other side. Varun dejected, made a sad face. Swara had disconnected his call. May be she was busy, he thought and switched his mobile off.
“Let’s go”
Usko chhupa kar main
Sabse kabhi le chaloon kahin door
Aankhon ke pyaalon se peeta rahoon
Uske chehre ka noor
Is zamane se chhup kar
Is zamane se chhup kar
Poori kar loon main hasrat
Hai tujhe bhi ijaazat
Kar le tu bhi mohabbat
Here, Swara tried his number “The person you’re trying to reach has switched off his mobile. Please try after sometime” it said and she threw the phone in anger.
“Idiot!” she exclaimed and she was about to cry when her phone beeped.
“Good morning, sweetheart! ? I reached Delhi, Swara, safe and sound. Take care of yourself and Ansh. Don’t roam around too much, it’s cold and take your medicines on time. Call me if you have any problem. I have a meeting now. Will talk in afternoon?”
She sighed and smiled at the message. She read it, she didn’t know how many times and smiled at her silliness.
