**Back Home**
Swara just landed on airport and Sanskar’s heart was beating faster. He felt something new, he felt six years ago. She was feeling the air blowing across her face and some unknown feeling occupying her stomach. She knew what was coming as she fisted her hands and let out a gasp.
“I’m here only for my project, nothing else” she walked down to reach a taxi and got into it. The route seemed long after six years, she didn’t know whether it was just an imagination or it actually did! She missed the air of the town, the smell of the land. Kolkata, the capital of the East Indian state of West Bengal is seen as the land of the intellectuals. It is also famous as the Land of Mother Teresa and Rabindra Nath Tagore. Communist in ideology and very politically aware, Kolkata was the capital of British India before Delhi assumed this position.
The city symbolizes creativity and vibrancy with all the modern amenities available. Kolkata has adapted to the modern trends and techniques of the world but has not shed the leisurely life style and the calm of it’s hey days. The Hooghly River flowing majestically through the city, adding glint to the blazing city.
She has always been passionate about her city, she wasn’t a history student but it was her hobby. She loved such stuffs! She remembers her college days when she used to be a guide for tourists. Memories are always special. Sometimes we laugh by remembering the days we cried and we cry by remembering the days we laughed! That’s Life!!..
Here Sanskar gets alerted and feels restless. Just then his mother calls.
“Yes mom” he picks up the call.
“Beta, come home early today, Gadodias will be home anytime” his mother informed.
“Okay mom. I’ll be home soon” he hanged the call and stood out to look down the busy street.
“Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference”
He recited the poem by Robert Frost as heard the hustle and bustle down the streets. He was a literature student and he loved it! It was his passion. Passion is one great force that unleashes creativity, because if you’re passionate about something, then you’re more willing to take risks.
Swara’s pov
As I passed through The Gariahat Road, one of the busy roads of Kolkata, the handicraft items attracted me and I stepped out of the car to take a look at them. The most memorable moments in life are the ones we never took the time to plan. Our paths may change as life goes along, but the bond between us remains ever strong… Miss you Ragini…
Tears made their way. I miss you, Ragini…my soul sister. Having a sister is like having a best friend you can’t get rid of. You know whatever you do, they’ll still be there. But I’m not so lucky. I don’t have my sister beside me. It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves. Lucky is not everyone. I wish, I wish you were just beside me!!..
Thoughts engaging my mind, I collided with someone.
“I’m so sorry” I held the girl’s shoulder in a process to make her stand up “I’m really so sorry, I didn’t see you”
“It’s okay” she stood up and looked for me and I stood there dumbfounded.
Swara’s pov ends
“Di” whispered Ragini and Swara just pulled her into a hug whereas Ragini just melted in her arms.
Jeevan yeh suro se sajati
Rishtey yeh suro se banati
Bajti hai to pyar ki dhun
Ek dhup[ chanchal hai
Ek chandani
Phir bhi hai ek duje ke liye bani
Dilo mein hai pyar bhara
Suro se saji hai swara
Rago se rachi hai ragini
Swaragini swaragini…
Swaragini swaragini…
Swaragini swaragini…
“Di, I missed you” Ragini whispered weakly and whirled in her arms.
