After a hiatus of three years, Kunwar Amar has graced the small screen once again, making a remarkable comeback on the most popular show – Anupamaa. The actor, last seen in Khatron Ke Khiladi 10 as a guest in 2020, steps into the shoes of Tapish, bringing a fresh dynamic to the storyline following Samar’s tragic demise. In an exclusive interview with ETimes TV, Kunwar Amar sheds light on his return, his character, and the delightful experience of working alongside Rupali Ganguly.
Excitement to Join Anupamaa: Aiming to play a pivotal role in the cult show Anupamaa, Kunwar Amar expresses his excitement, saying, “Anupamaa is a cult show, and when I got an offer, I was thrilled to be part of such an important role. My character brings a fresh element to the show, being a happy-go-lucky person with a significant social media presence. Anupamaa, despite her grief, has a soft corner for him. Working with Rupali Ganguly has been fantastic, and I’m delighted to be part of this show.”
The Unique Character of Tapish: Describing his character, Kunwar Amar shares, “Tapish is a Mumbai boy who has faced various ups and downs, struggles, and has a massive following on social media. Despite his popularity, he remains grounded and true to his roots. Anupamaa has a special fondness for him, and my character reciprocates that adoration and respect. It’s a joy to shoot with Rupali Ganguly every day, and I’m happy to be part of this show.”
Securing the Role: Recalling the moment he landed the role, Kunwar Amar narrates, “I was watching a World Cup match when I received a call from the production house asking about my availability for a shoot the next day. Intrigued, I went to their office, and they revealed the details of the show and my character. It was overwhelming to get such a significant role in the number one and cult show like Anupamaa. I’ve been waiting for an opportunity like this.”
A Surprise for Family: In a sweet gesture, Kunwar Amar kept the news of his entry into Anupamaa a secret from his family until the telecast. He shares, “I was so excited that I didn’t share the news with anyone, not even my family, until my entry was telecast. I wanted to surprise them, as they are huge Anupamaa fans. Their happiness and tears upon seeing me in Anupamaa were priceless.”
Working with Rupali Ganguly: Acknowledging the enormity of Anupamaa and Rupali Ganguly’s stature, Kunwar Amar reveals, “My first scene was a one-on-one with Rupali ma’am, and initially, I was nervous. However, within half an hour, she made me feel so comfortable. Her smile during rehearsal assured me that I was doing something good. Her warmth and praise for my performance made the entire process smooth. Working with Rupali ma’am is a blast, and I’m grateful for the opportunity.”
