Legendary singer and music composer Bappi Lahiri passed away on Tuesday night (February 15) due to multiple health issues. He breathed his last at Juhu’s CritiCare Hospital. The legendary singer was 69.
Dr. Deepak Namjoshi, director of the hospital, in an interview with PTI said, “Lahiri had been admitted to the hospital for a month and was discharged on Monday. But his health deteriorated on Tuesday and his family called for a doctor to visit their home. He was brought to the hospital. He had multiple health issues. He died due to OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) shortly before midnight.”
The legendary singer left behind a legacy and was popularly known not just for composing and singing several songs but also for judging the singing reality show, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. In 2020, the singing reality show, Indian Idol paid a musical tribute to Bappi Lahiri for the completion of 50 years in the industry.
Bappi Lahiri is survived by his wife Chitrani, daughter Rema and son Bappa.
