CHAPTER 77: Villain of her story
“So Aai and Baba told you everything”
Daksh spoke and Om nodded as he finished narrating to Daksh about Ishana and his trip to Pune…. Daksh smiled sadly as he remembered the worst days of his life…. That day had snatched his reason to live, his Devika but also given him a purpose to live, ensuring the safety of Devika’s family….
Once Om had known the truth, he had made an excuse for some important work and returned to Mumbai…. Ishana was reluctant on returning without finding any answers but Om had insisted and she had no choice…. And now without Ishana knowing he had come to meet Daksh….
Why Daksh took the blame for Devika’s death and why did they tell Ishana that Devika had committed suicide….
What was Anika’s connection to all this….
How was Anika related to Daksh and Devika….
He had to get answers to all these questions and only Daksh could tell this to him….
Daksh: Now that you know everything Om, please keep Ishana away from the truth, I know her well, if she finds the real reason for Devika’s death, she’ll fight those Malhotras and it can be dangerous, they are much worse than we already know.
Omkara: I’ll keep Ishana safe, but I haven’t understood something Daksh.
Daksh: What, what you did not understand?
Omkara: Why you took the blame for Devika’s death and why did you all tell Ishana that Devika had committed suicide? The hospital had declared her death as an accident, why did you have to tell Ishana another lie, when you all had already hidden so much from her?
Daksh smiled hearing Om’s question while Om looked at him confused….
Daksh: Om, I had to keep Ishana safe from the Malhotras, and that is why I had to become the villain of her story.
Omkara: What do you mean?
Daksh: I took the blame on myself because Ishana did not know me, she would have easily trusted when her parents would have told her that I am the reason for Devika’s death, and also once she knew I was the reason for all the problems in her life, she would not try to know more about that night. To keep her away from the danger, I pretended to be the danger in her life.
Om looked at him shocked by the revelation…. All this while Om was thinking that Daksh was the wrong one and he was the reason for Ishana’s miseries but he had been wrong, in fact, if Ishana was safe, it was only because of Daksh….
Omkara: If you were trying to keep her safe, why did you kidnap her, why did you warn her to stay away from you?
Daksh: To make her more sure that I am the bad person in her life.
Om looked at him hearing his answers….
Daksh: I pretended to kidnap her so that Abir and Ranveer would become alert and keep her in their protection; this was the only way to ensure that she stayed away from the Malhotras. You remember I did not destroy her phone, because I wanted Abir to trace her location so that they would come to save her, and also catch me. Once I would be in prison, Ishana would be sure that everything is fine and she’ll stop chasing the past.
Om looked at him surprised…. How wrong had Om been in judging Daksh when all along Daksh had only tried keeping Ishana and her family safe….
Omkara: We were so wrong about you.
Daksh: It is not your fault Om; it had to be that way. Ishana should only consider me as wrong, it is better for everyone.

Ishana was walking aimlessly on the road…. She did not know where she was going…. Life had already taken her on so many paths she had not intended on walking on…. She walked towards an empty street and sat down against the wall…. Tears she had been controlling till now flowed freely from her eyes…. She did not try to wipe them…. She rested her head against the wall and let her tears flow…. They were not only tears, but her pain flowing away…. She wanted to let go of all the pain…. She did not want to feel any of the pain anymore…. She just wanted to get rid of the pain….
Ishana had been suspicious of Om’s changed behavior since the time she had returned home after meeting her friend…. And when Om suddenly announced that they had to get back to Mumbai as he had some important work, her doubts increased…. She decided to talk to him and know the matter and hence she had gone to his art gallery when she came to know that he had not come there…. She was confused, if his important work was not in his art gallery, where else could he be…. She was wondering what to do when she was reminded of Daksh…. She thought to check the police station once there was no harm in checking once…. Little did she know that she was going to get the biggest shock of her life….
She reached the police station to meet Daksh when the constable told her that she had to wait as he already had a visitor…. She was surprised, who else could come to meet Daksh, and maybe it was Riddhima she wondered…. She decided to check for herself and walked towards the visitor’s room…. She was standing at the door when she heard a familiar voice and on opening the door she was shocked to see Om…. She was about to barge in when she heard Om talking about Devika’s death…. She listened carefully and was beyond shocked….
The truth behind what had happened that night, and what had happened to her sister pierced her heart…. She listened to their entire conversation…. Om had known it the night before yet he chose to hide it from her, and now they all were once again planning to keep her in the dark…. For the past three years, she had been kept in the darkness by her own parents, and now even Om was going to join them….
Without hearing anything more she walked away from the place….

Daksh: Anika Raichand….
Omkara: Yes Anika, what does Anika have to do with all of this? Aunty and uncle told me, that she also has the answers to my questions, but how?
Om asked Daksh knowing that he was the only person who could answer all his questions…. From the time Namrata had told him that even Anika Raichand knew the answers to his questions, he was confused…. He had wanted to meet Anika first and know it from her but when he had gone to her office, they told her that she was not there as she had gone out with Prachi for some important work…. Om decided to meet her later and hence came to meet Daksh first….
Daksh: That night when I was taking Devika to the hospital, we came across a car that stopped seeing us, and two girls got down from the car.
Omkara: And then, what happened? Who were those girls, aunty told me they helped you a lot that time?
Daksh: They were Anika and Prachi.
Om looked at him surprised….
Daksh: And you are right, they had helped me a lot during that time.
Omkara: So, does Anika know about Shaantanu and the illegal activities?
Daksh: Yes, I had told her everything that time only, and she is the one who helped me keep the fact that I am alive from Shaantanu, and she only ensured Shaantanu never finds about Devika being admitted to the hospital.
Omkara heard him silently….
Daksh: However things took an ugly turn, when Shaantanu found out that I am alive, and also about Ishana investigating Tia’s murder.
Om looked at him surprised…. Tia’s murder…. He then remembered Prachi telling him about Shaantanu being Tia’s killer….
So, both Devika and Tia had lost their lives because they wished to save innocent lives from Shaantanu Malhotra’s clutches…. The two girls only wanted to bring the truth out and help the girls who were trapped in the inhuman business done by the Malhotras…. And in the need of saving other lives, the two girls had lost their lives….
Om’s chain of thoughts broke as Daksh called him….
Daksh: Om, now that you know so many things, there is something more you need to know. And in this, I am really at fault.
Om looked at him confused….
Omkara: What do you mean? What else have you done?
Daksh told him about his involvement with Siddharth Rana…. He told how he helped Siddharth so that he could keep Shivaay behind in business….
Omkara: How could you do this, Shivaay and I always trusted you since we were kids, and this is what you do to him?
Daksh: I know whatever I did was wrong, but I did it only to secure Riddhima’s future.
Riddhima…. The mention of her name rushed anger inside him…. He stood up from his place and walked out of the room….
Daksh: What happened to Om suddenly, why did he leave like this?
Daksh looked at his sudden change in behavior in surprise….

After what seemed like forever Ishana stood up from her place…. She wiped her tears and composed herself…. She had decided never to fall weak and she would not, even today, she would not fall weak…. This was her fight all along and she should fight it herself…. She shouldn’t have let anyone else be a part of it…. She shouldn’t have let Om be a part of her fight….
The last time like he had told her to stay away from his problems…. She should have also asked him to stay away from her problems….
Why did she let him in….
Why did she again let him hurt her….
Why did she give him the power to hurt her so much….
Why did she make him so important in her life….
Why did she show him her fears….
Why did she depend on him to be with her….
Why did she let him fight along with her….
Why did she fall in love with him….
Why did she let her feelings for him overpower her mind….
Why did she listen to her heart….
All these questions were hurting her…. These questions were killing her…. These questions were piercing her heart as if someone had put a sharp knife right through her heart….
She calmed her raging heart and closed her eyes…. She took a few deep breathes and calmed herself….
She let go of her anger with each breath…. She let go of it…. She could not be angry with Om….
What was his fault, when her own parents had kept the truth from her, how was she supposed to blame someone whom she had met just a few months back….
What was his fault, when she herself had given him the chance to lie to her when she herself had given him the chance to hurt her….
What was his fault, when she herself had walked to him and given him the rights to hurt her like this, hurt her so much that she could not bear it….
The ringing of her phone made her look at the screen…. She looked at the called id and gave a sad smile…. “Om”…. The name flashed on the screen…. She picked up the call…. He spoke something from the other side….
Ishana: Even I wanted to talk to you, meet me at my house. Yes, we’ll talk then.
The call disconnected and she looked at the blank screen…. They had to talk…. They definitely had to talk….
