Part 34
Her eyes fluttered open with the sounds, a terror glued to her soul. A low sound of someone walking in the room was audible to her ears.
Not opening her eyes she secured her arm around her daughter and recited the holy verses to fight the terror.
“How can someone enter her room, there was no way for someone to enter her room unless it was someone from the family itself.” with this thought she opened her eyes gradually.
She spotted a male figure bending on the dressing table and searching for something with the torchlight.
It took her a good 10 seconds to figure out who it was, and when she identified the man, she waited for his next move.
“can I help you.” sitting on the bed she asked him.
he turned with a jolt as if caught red-handed, “I…I came to meet Kavya.” she knew he was lying.
“but Kavya usually sleeps in the bed,” she smiled in the darkness.
“I was searching for something… he said all of a sudden and walked to the bed.
She sensed the change in his tone and he grabbed something from the side table.
With no words afterward, he sat on the bed… “I have been irrational lately but I wanted to make you wear this on our wedding night.” his voice was deep and it ringed something in the surroundings.
“what… she asked when he kept his index on her lips.
“shhhh…no words.” he stopped her lips to say anything.
In the next moment, he took her one palm in his hands… the phone torch sitting proudly between them was creating a mystic aura between them.
She looked down due to the proximity and the feelings shadowing her cheeks and reddening them.
In a serene silence he slid the bangles down one wrist, she always felt uncomfortable sleeping in any kind of ornament so her wrists were bare and the bangles bought warmth in this cold night.
“i can’t believe you are my wife … it all seems a beautiful dream,” he muttered kissing her palms.
“I am sorry Kunj…” she whispered.
“It is okay.” and next came an unexpected hug, the assuring hug telling her they were good, she was not alone, he was not going anywhere…
She completed the hug inhaling his scent, it was the perfect end to an exhaustive day and she had no qualms with this day…not anymore.

she opened her eyes with a smile, she had slept very well in the night due to the medicine, she conjectured and thanking her God looked in her right for her daughter.
She was not there, perhaps her sister or mother took her, not to disturb her.
“Di, what happened?” seeing a grim-looking Kasturi she asked who was entering the room.
“Kunj and Auntie are leaving today only, Ma thinks something is not right…is it?” Kasturi asked her.
“No… not now,” Twinkle answered confidently and caressed her arm and to her surprise it was bare.
With a puzzled brain, she turned to the side table and grabbed the velvet box.
“what happened Twinkle?” Kasturi asked seeing her in a rush.
The bangles were secured around the two ridges in the box and her calm heart palpitated with mist.
“he never came to her…it was all a dream, a beautiful dream her medicated brain forced her to dream.” she thought closing the latch of the box.
“i think you should talk to Auntie about this…” Kasturi suggested opening the balcony for the sunlight.

“But at least stay for today Ma,” Twinkle requested her mother in law thinking about some way to apologize to him today only.
As soon as her sister told her the news of them leaving today she ran to her room, it was not the best time for them to leave… she didn’t want him to go back when there was an ongoing fight between them.
“it is important dear… I understand your condition but I think it is best we leave today.” Uma replied softly, caressing her palms. “perhaps when he gets some alone time he will be fine.”
“i don’t think so Ma…misunderstandings will only increase.”She thought without expressing it.
“just one month, after that I’ll take my daughter in law and my granddaughter back.” Uma consoled her.
The sudden thought of leaving her parents’ house, the comfortable place with no disturbing memories and her own zone …it terrified her in no moment.
After coming here she knew she had to return back but when her mother in law suddenly declared, she felt apprehensive about the thought of leaving her comfort.
“But Ma…” she couldn’t open her lips, it was of no use if he already had thought to go back.
“I’ll help you in packing Ma…” she whispered getting up.
“its okay dear, go and freshen up first… I’ll make sure you two talk before we leave.” Uma caressed her hair.

Walking through the balcony he looked at the clouds making their way to north… “perhaps they were traveling North to pour the cities.” He mused sipping the hot beverage.
in just a matter of a few days, they were married. something he had lost hopes the day she got married to his brother.
Though he was apprehensive about the wedding he didn’t imagine it would be like this, with them not in talking terms and everything.
Through the little rituals he was sensing his mother’s attempts to make it all normal but he felt his blood on a boil as soon as he saw her.
He had loved her the most and what an irony, she had neglected him the most.
“Paah… his thoughts were troubled with the sweet voice.
Nowadays his daughter has learned to call him dad and it has increased his happiness to folds… it was very hard to leave her here, he wanted to take her with him but of course, it was not possible and he didn’t want his wife to accompany them…not now.
“i wanted to talk with you,” she spoke without looking in his direction, with the fidgeting it took him no moment to analyze she was disturbed.
He knew very well it would trouble her when she gets to know about their sudden plan and he knew she will come to talk.
it relived his angry nerves seeing her troubled… she needed to know about his agony which was a genuine gift from her.” he crossed his own heart which was advocating to end this fight.
“is it something important?” he replied turning his back to them.
“our relationship is important for me,” she replied in a calm voice.
“oh.” the coffee went bitter at this very moment like the two cubes of sugar sublimed somewhere.
the dim taunt didn’t go unnoticed from her ears but she had made a promise to her heart that she would not react but apologize to him.
“sit here and don’t make noises Kavya…” making her sit on the bed she grabbed one of her toys and instructed her daughter.
The silence in the room was painful for her, the sunlight, the slow breeze and the swinging curtains which were her company in normal days, today they were seeing her helpless and at a loss of words.
In just two days they have become strangers of ages, this man was ignorant of her presence.
“see, everyone feels there is some tension between us… she started.
“wow Twinkle, again you are here because of everyone and not because of us… that’s the problem, you always think of others and not me.” he cut her harshly.
She clicked her tongue on the choice of her words.
“i don’t think it is something important… I should just leave for the airport.” he kept the mug on the table and turned to take his shirt from the hanger.
“Look… Kunj… I know …” she tried stopping him.
“Twinkle please, I don’t want to hear anything… I think it was not the right decision.” with that he grabbed the shirt and walked to the wash-room.
“stop…” she came in front of him. “I am trying to talk with you and you are cutting me for no reasons.” grabbing the shirt she threw it on the nearby table.
The tear-tank was triggered with this response and she controlled them with heavy breaths.
He was dumbstruck with this action of hers… all of a sudden she was standing in front of him and was staring him in anger.
The big eyes spoke anger and sheer determination.
“i know I was wrong but what do you think you are doing..hun?, I am trying to talk with you but No, you are leaving me here wondering how to talk with you… if this is what you promised me then it truly was a wrong decision.” her breaths were fast and uneven.
“isn’t it wonderful Wifey? Just before the wedding, you were wanting me to back off from the wedding…
The thing is you don’t understand where you are wrong…
You are here not because you feel we need to talk but because you feel a pressure on you when I am leaving like this…” he smiled sardonically. “ you have a month to clear your mind, if you still believe it is a wrong decision and Neha would die hearing about our wedding then inform me, I would send the divorce papers to you…
the words were the threshold for her, she pushed him aside and wiped the big tears which had made their way.
She didn’t have a word against Neha; she always believed Neha was in the bigger grief than hers. But now he had become her husband in her mind, her heart, her thoughts and when he mentioned “divorce” she felt the pangs of jealousy, insecurity and more than anything a terror of what if it really happened.
“ Perhaps it will take a lifetime to make you understand my love… I don’t know whether I am that strong or not,” he whispered to her retreating back.
“your mother is the only mistake I ever committed, kept committing and will keep committing,” he told the girl who was smiling on the touch to his one-day-old beard,
