Maharshi Dave, who’s currently seen in the show, Tera Mera Saath Rahe, admits that he landed his first break on television after a lot of struggle. Dave talks about it in an interview with BT and shares, “It all began in 2016 when one of my college friends was casting for a reality show. I randomly auditioned for it thinking I may get to be on TV. I got selected, shot for the show and fell in love with the whole process. That’s when I started thinking of becoming an actor. When you’re from a middle-class family, you don’t always think of becoming an actor.”
He further adds, “Belonging from Mumbai made it a little simpler compared to people who come from different cities and go through other struggles of living here. Slowly, I learned about where to give auditions and it was difficult. There were so many rejections because I was unfit for most characters. The first three years were tough. I just kept on giving auditions without any success. But I learned a lot in this phase, grew more confident in front of the camera, and slowly started getting shortlisted for films and ads.”
He continues, “I was shortlisted for a pivotal role in many films, but never got selected in the end. Such moments would make me feel like I was never going to make it. Now when I look back, I never call it a struggling period, but a learning phase. The opportunities I grasp today are because of the mistakes I made yesterday.”
Maharshi who bagged his debut role in 2020 says, “In 2020, I did over seven ads. That’s when things started changing for me. And in 2021, I got my first TV show, Tera Mera Saath Rahe. Everyone is really professional on the sets and each day is a learning curve for me.”
