Mahir Pandhi clarifies: No romantic relationship with Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia, Just strong friendship
Mahir Pandhi, known for his notable portrayal as a traditional television hero in Choti Sarrdaarni, has recently ventured into a more complex role as he embraces the shades of grey in Siddharth Kumar Tewary’s Vanshaj. This transition might have surprised some, but Mahir’s approach towards his career is far from conventional.
The actor talked about it in a recent interview and shared, “Following the conclusion of Choti Sarrdaarni, I was presented with numerous offers. However, my inclination was towards embracing something unconventional. The entertainment industry often encourages artists to uphold a positive onscreen persona, but I’ve never been one to conform. I trust my instincts.”
Addressing the casting process, Mahir opens up about the challenges he faced due to prevalent stereotypes. Despite his fair complexion and distinctive light green eyes, casting directors tended to pigeonhole him into specific roles. Recounting his early experiences, he states, “Embarking on the journey from another city to Mumbai with aspirations of becoming an actor exposes you to vulnerability, often leading to accepting whatever comes your way due to limited options or guidance. I was frequently offered roles of a Kashmiri character. My eye color was sometimes cited as an issue, prompting suggestions for alteration. That phase was indeed exasperating. Yet, I count myself fortunate to have secured the lead role in Choti Sarrdaarni. Often, it takes just one breakthrough show to shatter preconceived barriers.”
Addressing the ongoing speculation surrounding his relationship with Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia, his co-star from Choti Sarrdaarni, Mahir sets the record straight. Their strong on-screen bond and consistent collaboration fueled the rumors. He affirms, “Our daily interactions while shooting naturally led to a strong rapport. We wholeheartedly support our friends, and my views are candidly expressed. However, it’s important to clarify that Nimrit and I are not romantically involved; we share a close friendship.”
