Chapter 23
She stirred in her sleep and found something heavy over her..her eyes widened when she saw Arjun’s face close to her.,his breath to fan her lips…She saw half of his whole to lay over her..The left side of her body felt his weight..She blinked several times to decipher what could have happened..Her eyes rolled scanning the room…It’s Arjun’s house..How? and When?…She was too confused to remember or think anything else other than Arjun…and the weight over her challenged her senses to think something else…he smiled an unseen one seeing her confused….She tried to slid from his embrace..she moved slowly to her right.,but he snuggled more,pulling her close to him.,she saw his face when he let a sleepy moan..She was now lying completely beneath him..She was inhaling nothing but his scent…The air between them had a mild mixture of his Perfume,that body spray he regularly uses..,but nothing could match his Alpha male scent,she inbreathed under his neck…,she knew this is not going to get over here..This will stay with her forever,till her last breath,addicted to it she relaxed herself lying hypnotized…Minutes passed testing her senses,she saw him sleeping unaffected but it was hard for her, her breath turned heavy and she tried to move…But couldn’t..
“Arjun..Arjun…”,she called him in a calm voice,looking his face.,she had a slightest worry of disturbing his sleep..
“Yes..Mrs.Mehra!”,his guttural voice shook her insides tasting her own medicine.She saw him smirking with closed eyes,’so he had been awake then..’
He saw her closely,her brown orbs moving left to right.,probably recalling yesterday’s events.,”Come what may.,we are one..”,he whispered in her ears and she felt goosebumps to race over her skin…She blinked looking into his eyes,forgetting everything,the entire world itself,they were so close she could feel his heart beats,her lips involuntarily opened a little.,all the while he observed her in silence,’How could someone’,her mind raised a question and she tried shifting herself with her palms on his shoulder,but couldn’t move a cm.,her front attached to his,shook a little when his body vibrated in mirth,”Jerry,you thought you could push me”,he brushed his nose in the hollow of her shoulder,she felt her senses to betray her, her hands,lips,,brain every inch of hers to work against her will,surrendering themselves to him.,he slid his weight to the other side and saw her with a smirk,she inhaled sharp and was about to scold him,he captured her lips abruptly,her mumbles went unheard, her hands clutched his shoulder., “I won.!! Heavenly Morning Kiss!!”,he placed a wet kiss near her lips…He laid there starring her for a minute,while she struggled hard to behave normal,she felt heat to raise on her body at his gaze on her…His arm still over her middle like a band held her from moving…She finally turned to face him… He smiled and released his hold…”I will get ready in the other one”,he said and picked a set of his clothes…
She got down from the bed after he left the room..All the while,she got showered and ready her mind was stuck with only thing of why he worked as Arjun Mehta..Her brain drilled with numerous questions but her heart melted at the words he said that morning…She felt herself weak before him…She needs to ask him at any cost,she decided and opened the door…She saw him arranging the breakfast table,he was looking fresh….he scowled when his mobile rang,”I did say you..I have no problems even if its true..Then why the hell”,he spoke annoyed to someone and turned to his right and saw Radhika standing there…
“Okay…I will come now”,he quickly disconnected the call and came to her..He hugged her close, pecking her forehead he said,”Breakfast is from Prena’s aunt’s caterers..Have it…”,he moved without waiting for her reply…She was about to turn to her room,he turned around,”And Radhika,Don’t skip your breakfast”,he looked sharp into her eyes…
For a second her mind flashed the image of her college senior Arjun and she smiled dazed looking him…His features softened at that.,”What’s that Jerry?”,he asked soft..
.Who on earth other than his Radhika would smile listening his sharp remarks…
“I need to speak with you”,she said immediately…
“Will be back soon”,he said checking his watch…His another mobile rang with his assistant Kishore’s name…
“Attend the call”,she moved towards dining table…The spread din’t gain her attention,she smiled looking aloo parathas…Maa is the best..she thought and filled her plate…Arjun came to her disconnecting his call…
“Had your breakfast”,she asked unconsciously ….She bit her tongue..Arjun held her hand when she was about to eat a piece of paratha.,he ate it from her and said.,”Had it!…”I will come soon Radhika..but you should speak”,he said…
He locked his gaze with hers as he stepped backwards..”You should!! Remember!!”,he said before turning around…
Her fingers still warm, with the effect of his lips brushing while he had it from her,she smiled confused…Why she loses herself before him inspite of her anger…She felt the flames of anger to turn spiritless before him..but why so..His eyes.,the clear look had no shade of betrayal.,Her Arjun is not a person to cheat someone…how could he?…She sighed exasperatedly….Neil…!! More than her its Neil who always trusted Arjun..He was the one who scolded her for her mistake of losing Arjun…indirectly !! Yes..She should discuss with Neil before confronting Arjun…Her stomach growled before she got up…
“Radzzie..you should eat before you decide to eat someone’s brain”,she recalled Neil’s words… She turned gluttonous the next second..She gulped the mango juice in one go which Arjun filled in that tall glass when she came there….It turned hard for her to think straight.,every single thing reminded his care for her…which confused her more…
“Where is Neil?”,she asked when Neil’s assistant Amar picked her call..
“Ma’am..In Royal residency…Its sunday..So..sir is here”,the guy said calmly…
“But I tried him Amar..anyways..I will be there..No need to inform him”,she hung the call..

Arjun took long strides to the place mentioned by the receptionist…He was annoyed with Neil bringing Preeti’s topic again,when the girl is no more why to discuss about the past..However,he will never let down his Radhika..his thoughts wandered around one single plot when he collided with a girl..”Am so sorry!”,he said as he held her by hand…her handbag slipped and things scattered…”Are you ok”.,he asked when he felt her hand to shiver.. He bend down to pick her mobile,”Ajju bhaiya”he froze listening the words..when he turned she was nowhere..He tried hard to remember the girl’s face,she had covered her face,he did see only a lengthy scar on her left brow…The voice ringed in his ears making him restless…His eyes caught a card laying down.,”Shalini Kavin”,the card read..It was a patient card for some lady doctor…He walked to the length of the aisle searching the girl…she couldn’t be Preeti and she isn’t.. then how…May be hallucination,he brushed away his thoughts as he reached a suit on that floor…He pushed the door open only to listen Neil’s voice..
“Oh My God!! What a drama…Shaloo dear”,a male voice said with a laugh..
“I know…she did for Radzzie..anything for her..Isn’t”,Neil said, and Arjun saw him patting the girl’s head..The same girl whom he collided with minutes before…So..this was all a drama..He did think it was preeti and what he felt for the past 15 mins only he knew…He did search her in a least expectation of Preeti to be alive..how stupid he was.!..His anger shot up as he trod inside listening Neil and others laugh…

“Which floor”,Radhika asked as she stood with Amar in reception..
“3rd one Ma’am..and Prakash sir and Kavin sir are also there”,Amar said immediately..
“Hmm…Meeting without me..Amar..his cabin has another door isn’t..That study like..”,she asked pressing her temple with her finger..
“Yes..Left side Ma’am..”,Amar continued explaining…
Radhika smiled as she was about push open the door..Lemme surprise you guys..she thought but stopped listening Arjun’s voice from the other side…
“What a Plan Neil..Am impressed..I did know you will take any blame on behalf of Radhika but never thought you will stoop this low to prove me wrong”,Arjun spoke with audible anger in his voice..
“What Plan…you always get us wrong…Preeti is much alive..Here she is to meet you”,Neil said..
Radhika was shocked listening that…Arjun knew this and he din’t say a word to her..Her face lost its color reminiscing their morning moments…
“Ajju bhaiya”,the girl called ..
“Stop the nonsense…you are shalini..Here is your Id..and There is a limit for everything Neil…don’t play with my feelings..I don’t need to prove My love for Radhika..So no cheap drama”,Arjun spat in extreme anger without looking the girl…
“If you love her why the hell you blamed Radzzie”,Neil moved forward “Get to know the truth before you speak”,he said…
“Neil don’t test my patience”,Arjun growled and turned around…
“You can’t go from here”,Neil yelled sharp
“What the F***”,
“Ajju bhaiya”,the girl called…
“Dare you call me”,he threw the card over her face turning around and Neil held his hand in reflex…Arjun lost his temper and raised his hand,before Prakash could move….Arjun stopped looking Radhika behind them…
“Why did you stop…Hit him Arjun…”,Radhika said folding her arms..
“Its his mistake and better you stay away”,Arjun said controlling his anger..
“Of course its his mistake…He tried to solve this confusion avoiding me…overlooking your stupidity..”,she said equally anger.. “You can believe baseless infos…you can accuse us.,but we shouldn’t try to prove our stance…so…Mr..Mehra..what rights you hold to raise your hands on my friend.”,she spoke sardonically in a calm voice.
“You know nothing”,Arjun hissed…
“Its you who knew nothing…If I call his guards they will count your bones for trying to hit their boss…You…This is his hotel…you idiot.!!.He isn’t a normal person like you…Learn to Respect people”,Radhika spoke in anger..her face expressing annoyance and anger…
“So you thought..I will get your husband charged”,Neil asked with a smile…
Arjun fumed listening her…though her concern was clearly said,the words she used rubbed him bad…
“Radz..you shouldn’t speak like that, with Arjun”,Prakash said in calm voice..
“Better everyone stop your drama..Even if she kills someone,she is my wife…so stay away you all..”Arjun raised his finger at them….”Come back soon”,he said looking her and stepped towards exit..
Prakash saw Arjun to avoid looking Preeti standing next to Kavin…she was in tears with her head down..
“Preeto…Why are you here..”,Arjun stopped on his tracks listening Radhika…None noticed him but he saw everyone around that girl…
“So..Preeti is alive”,Arjun asked…Everyone glared him in anger while Preeti alone smiled..
“Ajju bhaiya..you are still the same…You scold Radhu before others could, so that we won’t get angry on her..though you chant Radhu says only lies you will be the first to believe her words…Even now…”,the girl peeped between Neil and Prakash…”Bhabhi…U called me Preeto and bhai got enlightened”,she giggled…Radhika got tears looking her…
“Why are smiling now”,Radhika asked..
“Coz doctor said I shouldn’t cry..”,Preeti rubbed her tummy…Radhika held her face and pecked her cheeks…
“Why are you so good..”,she cried hugging her…
“Preeti..then..Shalini”,Arjun was about say something..
“Don’t speak with him”,Radhika said to preeti aloud…Preeti could see Radhika breaking down recalling the past…
“Why you covered your face? and why you ran from there? I thought you couldn’t be Preeti as…”Arjun was cut in…
“You also couldn’t be My Ajju bhai…Where were you all these days….Where were you ..when we needed you the most…You can’t be my Ajju bhai…you are selfish…he isn’t”,Preeti spoke with tears…Kavin held her and rubbed her back..”He asks about My face Kavin…So..you will identify only with my face.. Am not Preeti, am Shalini…I don’t know you”,she rubbed her nose like a kid…”Why you married him Radhu…you shouldn’t have..”Preeti asked her..
“Are you sure?”,Radhika smiled at her…Arjun was confused looking them softened immediately
“Second thoughts helps at times”,Neil handed a glass of water to Preeti…She giggled at that…
“Why everyone is behind my marriage”,Arjun asked in frustrated…
Preeti removed her scarf and he saw a part of her face with scars..”Because we are annoyed with your aloofness…We will trouble you”,Preeti smiled..
“So now you believe or you need me to say those secrets..Radhu..you know…Bhai knew that you know French already..Just like you pretended to learn for first time,he too faked to believe your words…uff…you both dramebazz…fooled me atlast.”,Preeti rolled her eyes..
“Really,”,Radhika shrieked a unusual one..
Preeti continued laughing herself.,Arjun noticed them to smile relaxed when Preeti had her chatter box on…”And…You know..It was Bhai who broke Faizal’s hand…For he hit you with Basket ball…We both faked innocence when you asked.”She smiled..
Radhika narrowed her eyes at that…”So..why he din’t hit for trying to spike my drink”,she asked…
“He did na…You forgot? Thats y Faizal missed his last semester”,Preeti coughed after spitting the truth…
“Preethu”,Arjun called hurriedly surprising everyone…
“She isn’t Preeti”,Kavin said.. Arjun pressed his lips irritated
“Who told you about Preeti..this fake news”.,Prakash asked more like a enquiry…
Arjun saw everyone to look him curious…”Vivek said..and I heard Preeti scream too”,Arjun said looking them…
“So you believed..”,Neil asked him..
“No..when I enquired I got her death certificate”,he said shocking them…
“How you got that..you went to her place..Gosh..we thought its Faizal”,Radhika rubbed her forehead..
“Will anyone tell me what happened”,Arjun asked..
“This is something you should have asked in first place”,Radhika mocked him in anger…
“Arjun.,tell how you got to know..This is something really serious and we need your help”,Prakash eased the situation.
“Well..When I was about to come here an year back,I called Neil and Radhika.,but their numbers got changed,so I contacted Vivek..He spoke in a hurry saying, Radhika played a prank with Preeti…then when I called him again,he refused to give any of your numbers…I know its tough to trace them being in London…So.,I tried again through Vivek and thats when he said…”,Arjun stopped and saw Radhika..
“Say Arjun..we need to know”,Prakash encouraged him..
“He said bad about Radhika..that she grew more atrocious and tried to hurt Faizal twice..I couldn’t believe..but he said,Faizal filed a Attempt murder case on Radhika..but Neil took the blame…Prakash..I was unable to contact anyone,when I asked him next week I heard Preeti’s scream fearing on something…The line went dead..and before that Vivek said we will lose our preeti…I know.,being a Orphan..how much Vivek craved for love and affection,and just like me he too thinks Preeti to be his sister…How could he lie when its about Preeti …”,he dragged when Radhika sat opposite to him..
“Then”she asked..
“I..I came to India 11 months back…Before that I did ask a local person to enquire about Preeti and he said the same..when I came here,I went to Delhi to get Radhika’s address from university..but I saw Radhika and Neil with a group of people… I got to know she led a music band cum company called “Cheer Beats”,and that was their first concert and a fundraiser one..I watched it..I got doubts looking them enjoying after such a incident.,so I traveled myself to Preeti’s native,but her foster parents said the same and I got a death certificate when I pressured a police officer there…Then.. ”
“Why you din’t speak with me Arjun”,Radhika asked him…
Arjun looked everyone around,”I thought to clear this issue before I meet you..I din’t want to ask this and hurt you…Thats the truth..!! At any point of discussion I may get angry…But …I never thought I would get that certificate..when I saw you enjoying the concert I believed Preeti was alive…you can;t be happy if something had happened like that…”.Arjun looked Radhika’s disappointed face…
“You could have met her atleast after that…Its 11 months you stayed in a delusion and now..”,Preeti shook her head…”We never thought you would enquire like detective”,she said…
“Thats the level he trusts me”,Radhika smiled sardonically…
“No Raddzzie..Think from his stance…He isn’t at fault…Just think what if he asked this straight to us..we would have been hurt more than this..”Neil sat next to Radhika…
“He cut our ties..Its his mistake”,Radhika screamed…
“Yes..But I..whom you want me to contact ?…Tell me..Prakash left for civil service,..Vivek ..he wasn’t there for masters..and You.,..how to contact you, the one who insulted me…I wanna..”,he stopped abruptly “That’s something which I will explain to you personally”,he said..
“And me?”,Preeti asked..
“You…the same reason..you will spill the beans…that’s y..and I thought Radhika will take care of you..”he said..
“Bhai…you are hiding something”,Preeti asked…
“hmm…you know Radhika rejected my proposal..I was angry on her…but I know she won’t leave you alone…Preethu…I did speak with you for 6 months…you favored your bhabhi…informing about me…tell me..you did isn’t…and..She never tried to contact me… That’s when Neil mailed me something, asking me to stay aloof for some time…so that Radhika will open up…she will come to me….”,Arjun explained in a calm voice looking Radhika..
All four turned to see Neil..Who immediately said.,”.I thought it will work..but this khadoos cut my ties instead..until then at least I was mailing him though he doesn’t..”
“So you both were in contact”,Radhika asked surprised…
“What to do…My twin was madly in love with this khadoos senior…so I mailed him..”,Neil shook his shoulders trying to ease the situation…
Prakash.looked Arjun sharply…,”Prakash…I thought the idea will work..so I stopped speaking with preeti….but trust me man…!! I never expected the next…My dad met a serious accident…life threatening one..It was a month he was in ICU… when I called the univ, I got to know Radhika stayed with preeti…so I was kinda relieved….I took care of his company too…studies also..and few more things…I was squeezed daily…after 5 whole months..I felt bit relieved when my course was almost over and that’s when I called Vivek….Later there was a situation, I need to be here…for my sister..so I came here…”he said in one go…
“You disabled your mail id and your number..”Neil asked…
“Neil it was only you who msgs..so I just disabled..and my number…I lost my phone…”he said looking Radhika..
Radhika moved away from the cabin annoyed….Arjun sat in silence…
“Was that accident planned for you or for your father”,kavin asked out of the blue….
Arjun saw him thoughtfully….
“So may be your dad disabled or restricted your communications…but how he let you here then”,Kavin asked him again…
“He dint….I came against his will..but why do you think so…I mean…yes.. I was asked to stay detached…my dad did threw my phone in anger when I din’t budge…but…”Arjun got deep with his doubts listening kavin…”Guys…pls dont say this to Radhika…she will fear for my life…please”…he said
“So good to see you pleading”,Neil mocked him…..
Arjun glared him…”I took someone’s appointment card.”,Arjun took the card from ground…
“Its me Shalini Kavin”,Preeti smiled…
Arjun’s features squeezed a little in confusion listening her…
“Bhai…that fellow Faizal came back in our lives…do you remember what you said to him”,she asked…
How could he forget….Faizal, the guy was behind Radhika from 1st year and when he had no hopes in getting her,he decided to take the other route…he planned to spike her drinks and luckily preeti overheard and passed the news to Arjun…he still remember how Radhika laid unconscious having a juice..it was just the nick of the moment when Arjun barged in and thrashed Faizal…he threatened preeti and tried to slap her….Arjun in rage broke his already injured hand and crushed him like a trash dragging him out from the club..
“.Dare you set eyes on my girl..you won’t see the next sunrise….its not just a warning Faizal”,Arjun roared standing in the middle of the road..Faizal smiled looking Preeti behind…. “Your to be adopted sister is no less to your girl..”,he said rubbing his knuckles…Arjun stamped over his mouth..”This is for speaking about her”…
