Vansh’s POV
“Vansh!” came the high-pitched voice again.
I could hear the click-clack sound of heels approaching me. But still, I didn’t budge.
What do you do when something or someone is uninvited? It’s simple. Ignore. This was what I was doing at the moment, trying to ignore the owner of the voice.
But, I guess luck wasn’t on my side.
As I was about to move further, Ishani came and stood in front of me followed by Ahaana, the one whom that high-pitched voice belonged and the only one whom I was trying to ignore.
Ishani is my younger sister, sweet yet sassy. Unlike other wealthy children, she loves to socialize with people. Affable is the correct word to describe her.
Ahaana was Ishani’s friend, one of the result of her socializing. Note the sarcasm. She is polite, a bit annoying and too much clingy. To describe her, pesky is the correct word.
“Bhai, I missed you so much” Ishani said hugging me.
“Even I missed you Ishani” I answered her reciprocating the hug.
“Hi Vansh!” said Ahaana as she forwarded her right hand for a handshake.
“Namaste!” I said joining my hands.
“Oh Vansh! You are so funny” she said getting embarrassed.
“How are you?” she asked.
“I am fine but not anymore” I muttered under my breath.
“Did you say something?”
“Umm… nothing. Actually I got an important call to answer” I said looking at my phone’s screen.
“Dad you go along with mom and Ishani, I’ll come with Ahaan” I said turning towards dad and gesturing Ahaan to come with me as I placed the phone near my ear pretending to be talking with the non-existing caller.
This was the best bahaana (excuse) I could make to get rid of Ahaana.
“Angre is waiting for you in the parking lot” dad said and I nodded in response.
Angre was one of the most loyal employee working in VR Enterprises. I met him 5 years ago when he joined the company and initially we became friends. He is humble, well mannered and dedicated towards his work. He helps dad in every matter, be it personal of professional.
Heading towards the VIP parking section of airport, I could see Angre standing outside the black Mercedes maintaining his professional aura.
As his eyes fell on me, he walked towards me.
“Good to see you boss” he said extending his hand for a handshake. At times I tell him to call me by by name but he always refer me as boss saying it would sound rude if he calls me by my name.
“Good to see you too Angre” I said reciprocating the handshake.
“Angre, aren’t you happy to see me?” came Ahaan’s voice from behind.
“Why won’t I be happy? Good to see you Mr. Ahaan” Angre said.
“Good to see you too Mr. Angre” Ahaan said mimicking Angre as we all broke into fits of laughter.
“Jokes apart guys, lets go home. It’s getting late” I said glancing at my watch
“Sure” Angre said.
Making ourselves comfortable in the car, we headed towards our home. Journey to the home was filled with various talks with Ahaan cracking his lame jokes in between.
.
.
Entering inside VR Mansion, I felt very elated. It was the place where I was born, the place where I spent my childhood.
My house is a kaleidoscope of memories, of photographs adorning the walls, each of them conjuring the emotions of those sweet eternal moments.
“Bhai!” came a very soothing voice and I knew whom it belonged to.
“Sia” I said as I saw her descending the stairs with that beaming smile of hers.
Sia is my sweetheart. She is the youngest one of all the siblings. She is very sweet and polite. Her smile is everything and I can do anything to see that smile of hers.
“Bhai I missed you so so much” she said as she hugged me with those tiny hand of hers.
“Even I missed my sweetheart a lot” I said as I reciprocated the hug placing a small kiss atop her hairs.
“Sorry bhai. I couldn’t come to pick you up” Sia said getting a bit sad.
“It’s not your fault Sia. Don’t feel sorry for it” I said rubbing her back.
Sia is suffering from cardiomyopathy, due to which her heart implant has to be performed. She is advised to stay at calm environment and airport being so crowded and noisy is not a place for her to go.
“All your hugs and kisses for Sia. Nothing for me” Ishani said as she made her way towards us.
“Come” I said as I spread my hand inviting her for a sibling hug.
“We love you Vansh bhai” Ishani and Sia said hugging.
“I love you both”
Siblings are the people that teach us about life. They teach us what it means to be kind and caring, to be fair and to know we will not always be right. They teach us about teamwork, conflict resolution and most importantly they teach us what it is to love and be loved.
Siblings are one of the best things our parents bring in our life. And I am one of those few lucky ones who have had the best shares of everything God created.

Riddhima’s POV
I was wrong about Kabir. I was wrong to call him sweet. Sweet my foot! He don’t even deserve to be called a man. I’m very furious at the moment that if that Kabir comes in front of me again I will kill him with bare hands.
My chain of thoughts were broken by a call on my phone. Sejal, the caller id indicated. I immediately picked up the call.
“Hello Riddhima” she spoke.
“Yes Sejal tell”
“Riddhima have you went home or still you are hospital?” came her voice from the other side.
“I’m at hospital. What happened?”
“Acha. Will you pick me up from the registration office that is onJail Camp road? My work is almost done.”
“Ok. I’ll reach there in about 15 minutes.”
“Ok bye.”
“Bye.”
.
.
The sun began to set through the cracks in the clouds and darkness was creeping in. The day consisted of a few sprinkles here and there which were just enough to moisten the roads.
I was driving towards the Jail camp road with some soft music playing in the car. The soothing voice of the music made me feel relaxed after the unforeseen incident.
After driving for continuous 15 minutes, I could see the registration office and Sejal standing outside it. I stopped the car in front of her.
Opening the door of the car, Sejal sat on the passenger seat and I started driving towards our home.
The road was off the beaten path. Cars sat empty along the curb, collecting dust. There was no one on the road except the stray dogs, who were roaming here and there completely aware of their surroundings.
“Sejal” I said.
She hummed in response.
“I want to tell you something.”
“Not now Riddhima. We will talk once we reach home. You concentrate on driving” she said with her eyes fixed on the document she was holding.
“Ok.”
Increasing the voice of the music, I focused on the road. The weather was changing rapidly.
The clouds began to gather in the sky. Up to now, the sky had been postcard-perfect, but it was changing. The beautiful cocktail-blue shade was beginning to darken into gravel-grey. Large pillows of cloud were forming, blotting out the old-gold colour of the sun.
Droplets of moisture began to drip from the leaves. They were sprinkling onto the road like a gardener’s hose.
All of a sudden, the dark sky was lit up by lightning followed by a peal of thunder. The sound of the music could barely be heard. Then the rainfall became more intense.
The heavy downpour was blurring my vision. I turned on the car windscreen wipers.
Sejal’s gaze was still fixed at the papers. I could see the wipers swaying from left to right and then to left again.
As I focused on the road, a dazzling light hits my eyes and my vision darkened for a minute. Blinking my eyes rapidly, I tried to adjust myself with the light.
But, it was too late.
I could see a truck approaching our car at a very high speed. Before I could change the direction of the car, it collided with our car with full force.
I could feel our car flipping on the road.
Disappointment, disbelief and fear filled my mind as Sejal lye on my side, sandwiched between the cold, soft dirt and the hot, slick metal of the car. The weight of the car pressed down on the lower half of our bodies with monster force.
It did not hurt, my body was numb. All I could feel was the car hood’s mass stamping my body farther and farther into the ground. My lungs felt pinched shut and air would neither enter nor escape them.
My mind was buzzing. What had just happened?
In the distance, on that cursed road, I saw people running towards our car. I turned towards Sejal. Her eyes were closed and the white papers she was holding were now stained with red blood. I tried to call her but my voice was unheard.
All I could do was wait. Wait for someone to help me or wait to die.
My vision was getting darker and darker.
I could hear the faint voices of people being replaced by sound of sirens.
With the darkness embracing me, I was losing my consciousness…..
