Mukesh Khanna, best known for his iconic roles in Shaktimaan and Mahabharat, holds a special place in the hearts of Indian audiences as the nation’s first superhero who once ruled television screens. Today, he remains connected with his fans through his YouTube channel, social media, and various interviews. Mukesh Khanna often makes headlines for his candid and strong opinions on the latest films, TV shows, and more. Notably, he once criticized The Kapil Sharma Show, labeling it as “vulgar.” When the cast of Mahabharat appeared on the show, Khanna chose not to participate, describing the show as “ashleel” (obscene). On social media, he clarified that he had been invited for the Mahabharat reunion episode on The Kapil Sharma Show, but he declined the invitation.
Recently, a new video of Mukesh Khanna has been circulating online and on entertainment news platforms, where he discusses his first encounter with comedian and host Kapil Sharma. In an interview, Khanna recalled meeting Kapil at an award function. At the event, Mukesh Khanna received an award for his work on Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha, while Kapil Sharma was also being honored as his show had just begun. Khanna narrated that Kapil Sharma hurriedly took a seat next to him in the front row but did not exchange any pleasantries.
Mukesh Khanna expressed his disappointment, describing Kapil Sharma’s behavior as “asabhya” (uncivilized) because he did not make an effort to engage in conversation or inquire about Khanna’s well-being. The Shaktimaan actor noted that while he might not have known Kapil personally, the comedian certainly knew who he was. Despite his criticism, Khanna mentioned that he does not feel hurt by Kapil’s behavior, but he does consider it impolite.
This incident, coupled with Khanna’s earlier remarks about The Kapil Sharma Show, highlights the veteran actor’s strong stance on maintaining certain values in entertainment, and his willingness to speak out when he feels those values are compromised.
