Shikha Singh who took a break from television after she got pregnant delivered a baby girl in June 2020. The actress had put on about 24 kgs but she worked hard and stay disciplined to shed those extra kilos. After shedding 25 kgs Shikha is back in action with Naagin 6 and is feeling fitter. In a recent interview with BT, Shikha talked about it and shared, “The goal was to get fitter not just for my baby, but for myself, too. I had to be persistent and consistent with my weight loss regimen.”
Talking how makers tend to shy away from actresses who embrace motherhood because they don’t look the same and are busy with their babies, Shikha said, “I had heard from many people that it is difficult for women to get back to their fitter selves after delivery and that makers don’t cast you in strong or interesting roles. I did not want to get slotted in ‘mommy’ roles. I strongly feel that a woman should be able to get back to her normal self after delivering a baby. The industry works in a set pattern and you can’t help but be under pressure to look good or else you are out of business.”
When asked how she lost over 20 kilos in the last one year, the actress said, “I followed a quantified nutritious diet and improved my metabolism while I lost weight. I also worked out in the gym and played badminton for one or two hours every day. Sometimes, I used to go for a run, too. It is important to feel good and if you are fit, you tend to do be happy and in the process enjoy life much better.”
