Vipul Roy and Neha Bagga have raised their voice on the issue of non-payment of dues. The actors have not been paid since 2019 by the producer of Naye Shaadi Ke Siyaape.
The show which went on air in September 2019, was wrapped up in the first week of October 2019, after airing just four episodes. Vipul and Neha, who essayed the lead pair on the show claim that though the show wrapped up in just 4 weeks, they worked on the show for four months and deserve to be paid for that.
In a recent interview, Vipul talked about it and shared, “Yes, the show wrapped up in four episodes, but our dates were blocked and we worked hard for four months. They paid me a nominal amount and their other cheques bounced.”
Vipul says a number of actors are facing the same problem. “Ask any actor and he must have suffered non-payment of issues at some point with some production house. This is a problem in the system. But how do you expect an actor to survive till the next show, when his dues have not been settled by the previous producer? I periodically asked the producer for my dues and he assured me each time that I would get it, but it’s been two years now and I have not received anything, except cheques
that bounced.”
Neha also added to the conversation and said, “Due to COVID-19, I moved back to my hometown Chandigarh. I had to go back home as I did not have work and my dues were not settled. I kept calling the producer, but his phone was switched off. The cheques also bounced.”
When BT asked Daulat Singh Rawat, the producer of the show, he said, “I am hoping to settle the dues in a few days, hopefully on August 4.”
