‘Nima Denjongpa’ actress Surabhi Das talks about moving to Mumbai; says, I want to keep working and so I plan to shift base to Mumbai

Popular Assamese actress Surabhi Das is all set to make her debut on Hindi TV with the upcoming show Nima Denzongpa. Surabhi will be seen essaying the role of Nima, who will move to Mumbai from Sikkim and for her dreams and love. The story will be based on her struggle in Mumbai.

Talking about the discrimination face by the northeastern people she shared, “People from Northeast face a lot of racism and I have faced it too.” Further talking about it, she says, ” When I was in Delhi in 2015, my friends used to call me by different names which are racist remarks. I explained to them that it wasn’t funny and they understood. But even today there are some people who call me Momo and some other names.”

Talking about the show Nima Denjongpa, she shared, “I play Nima who is from Sikkim. I had to work on my accent and I did that with a few workshops. The production house is helping me with everything and I am happy to be working with good people. Through this platform, I would want to address everyone and tell them that it isn’t right to pass comments or call people by certain names. And all this is certainly not funny. ”

The actress is planning to shift base in Mumbai permanently. She says, “I always wanted to be an actor. I started as a child artist when I was 11 in Assam. I did TV shows. In the past five years, I had a dream to work on Hindi television and that has finally come true. I want to keep working in Mumbai for which I plan to shift base.”

Talking about her experience in Mumbai so far, Surabhi says, “I thought people would make fun of me, but I have not experienced anything like that here. I am happy to be here.”
