Phir Bhi Tumko Chahunga (Shot 10)

I know you’re all ready with tomatoes n potatoes n jootas n chappals to welcome me back. I’m extremely sorry guys for leaving the story at a cliffhanger. I’m really busy for these two weeks but I’ll try my best to post regularly from now on.
So without wasting much time, here I present to you PBTC shot 10. Happy reading.

Dev: Sonakshi I know you’re really angry and that’s legit coz main morning ceremony khatm hote hi gayab ho gaya…kisi ko inform bhi nahi kiya, tumhare calls receive nahi kiye, Mani Ma’am ne bulaya aur main bina tumhe bataye chala gaya, yaha tak ki maine toh boxes khareedte waqt unhe count bhi nahi kiya. You ought to be angry Sonakshi…..that’s….

Sona: Dev! Relax! Boxes kam the ismein tumhari koi galti nahi thi. Galti HUMARI thi….hum teeno ki.

Dev: Exactly!! Toh phir tum class mein akele akele kyun ro rahi thi? Humein bhi bula leti….teeno saath mein baith kar rote.

At this comment of his Sonakshi gave him a death stare, but burst our laughing the very next moment. Dev’s face brightened seeing a happy Sonakshi again. He felt relieved and victorious at the same time.

Sona: Acha Dev! Tell me something… Did you get those boxes here?

Dev: Yeah! Went back to that shop….that moron wasn’t ready to budge, bolta hai, ” Maine toh 250 hi diye the, aapse hi koi galti ho gayi hogi”…… I thought yeh toh maanega nahi. So went to another shop and bought these.

Sona: But finds toh khatm ho gaye the! Phir paise kaha se aaye?

Dev: Arre chhodo na!….Dekho main…

Sonakshi at once caught him trying to change the topic. She immediately cut him and spoke

Sona: Dev! Main kuch pooch rahi hoon. Paise kaha se aaye?

Dev: Kahi se bhi aaye ho kya fark padta hai? Boxes toh aa gaye na! Bas baat khatm…problem solved!

Sona: Nahi bataoge na? Theek hai toh aaj ke baat mujhse baat mat karna.

Saying so she was about to leave when he held her hand and stopped her. She turned only to find him standing with his lashes lowered.

Dev: Woh…….mere is mahine ki pocket money se….

Sonakshi was stunned at this statement of his. Jatin had once told her that Dev never wasted a bit of his pocket money and saved as much as possible. But Dev being avaricious was something she could not digest. So she enquired,”But why does he do that?”
Jatin’s reply left her speechless.

“He donates all that he saves to an NGO that helps leukemic kids who can’t afford the treatment.”

She had never thought that he could be so selfless and thoughtful. That day her eyes only held respect for him but right now they only reflected disbelief.

Sona: Are you crazy? How could you do that? Boxes khareedne ke liye tumne apni poori pocket money waste kar di?

Dev: Sonakshi its all right. That’s not a big deal.

Sona: NOT A BIG DEAL? Dev I know you’ve been saving every bit of your pocket money for those kids who wee struggling for their life. We’ve wasted their share of money and you say its not a big deal?

Dev was shocked listening to this as he had never told anything about the donation to anyone except Jatin. But it didn’t take him much time to match the two ends. Obviously, Jatin had told her everything. He could see her eyes nearly moistened as she said those last words. He held her hands into his to reassure her.

Dev: You know what, I’d been to the hospital once to meet meet some of those kids and when I asked one of them about what they wanna do in life, he said that they only wished to be able to help all those who were helping them through this NGO in every way possible. They are helping us Sonakshi. We should be happy that their wish is being fulfilled.

Sona: Woh sab toh theek hai Dev but iski kya zaroorat thi?

Dev: Zaroorat thi aur ab poori bhi ho gayi. Chapter closed.

Dev affirmed but Sonakshi didn’t look convinced. Suddenly, Dev began acting as if searching for something in his pockets. Sonakshi was confused at his behavior. All this time he had been hiding something in one of his hands that was folded back. When he was done investigating his pockets, he brought forth that hand and smiled mischievously at Sonakshi. She spotted two ice creams in his hand. She rolled her eyes and looked at him.

Dev: Sorry! Cornetto ke liye paise nahi the. Toh aaj Choco Shot se hi kaam chalana padega.

Saying so he made such a puppy face that she could not hold back her smile. She took one of the ice creams, ripped off its cover and devoured the chocolaty delight.

Sona: This is the most wonderful ice cream ever made.

Dev: Exactly! Jab ladki aur kadki saath mein ho toh bas Choco Shot hi bacha sakta hai.

At this Sonakshi gave him the “YOU ARE IMPOSSIBLE” look and they continued enjoying the treat. Just when they were done with it, a girl came looking for them.

Girl: What are you guys doing here? We have to start the function. Go and invite the teachers.

Sona: Ya we were just leaving. All preparations done?

Girl: Ya everything is ready. Both of you come soon.

Sona: Ya we will.

So both our captains went on to invite the teachers and the function started. While Dev joined the audience, Sonakshi went backstage as she had to deliver her speech and was also a part of the group song. Her dppech left everyone in am awe of her oratory skills and the group song was indeed a beautiful medley of iconic songs from the 70s and 80s. The show went on with great pomp and cheer, and was a huge success. The principal and the teachers were really happy with the arrangements. Thus was the best teacher’s day ever celebrated in the school. After the show was over, all the students assembled for a photo shoot. Dev and Sonakshi were asked to pose together for a photo. The two of them just looked perfect, as if they were made for each other. Soon after the photo session, Sonakshi assembled her belongings and was about to leave when Dev called her.

Sona: Hello….haan Dev bolo.

Dev: Sonakshi tum ghar ke liye nikal toh nahi gayi?

Sona: Nahi abhi nahi….kya hua?

Dev: Kya tum abhi library ke paas mil sakti ho? Kuch kaam tha.

Sona: OK main aati hu…tum wahi ruko.

As Sonakshi reached the library she saw Dev standing there with a packet in his hand.

Dev: Tumne poocha nahi…main morning ceremony ke baad kaha gayab ho gaya tha?

Sona: Tumhi ne toh kaha tha apne friends ke saath bahar gaye the.

Dev: Kyun gaya tha….yeh nahi poochogi?

Sona: Kyun gaye the??

Dev: Yeh laane ke liye.

He said forwarding the packet to her. It was a thin box like thing, may be a DVD….elegantly wrapped in a royal blue gift wrap.

Sona: Yeh kya hai Dev?

She said opening the gift wrap, when Dev stopped her.

Dev: Abhi nahi…..isse aaram se ghar jaake kholna….aur phir mujhe batana kaisa laga. OK? Chalo then..bye.

Sona: Ya bye..

She sounded confused.

“Kya ho sakta hai ismein?”
