Subsequent days saw Sonakshi completely devoted to her studies. Even the minutest of distraction couldn’t brush past her. She had her dream and her dad’s desire to be fulfilled, and she left no stone unturned on her way to fulfil both.
In the second preboards, she performed exceptionally well, standing out to everyone’s expectations.
Bijoy was happy that his daughter was back to form and was working hard as always. It was time for him to leave for Leh. He returned her phone to Sonakshi, in turn of a promise that it won’t divert her focus.
All these days, Dev and Sona didn’t talk much neither in the school nor at home. After the ‘Fake Chat’ incident Sonakshi had once told Dev that she didn’t want to be pointed out as someone’s alleged girlfriend and so they avoided talking much in school as there had been rumors of them being in a relationship.
RELATIONSHIP!! Yes! How could I forget? A few days after the first preboards, when Dev was all set to tell Sheena about the truth, that he didn’t want to be in a relationship with her, and that he had agreed to her proposal just because he didn’t want to hurt her, something very strange happened. At least for Dev this was really very strange. Sheena had already made a new boyfriend even before Dev could tell her his side of the story. He was initially astonished at her frequency of making boyfriends but then he was happy that he didn’t have to put any efforts. Sonakshi was obviously informed about all this and she could do nothing but laugh at his hopeless state.
She was sure that he wasn’t going to get infatuated that easily anymore. Probably, she was too sure of her lessons on “ONE TRUE LOVE” that she had been giving him.
THIS ? incident left her in a confused state. She couldn’t really decide whether she should be happy for her best friend or feel sad for herself:
After the second preboards, when Bijoy had left for Leh, Dev visited Sonakshi’s house. His face reflected that he was here to share something really important with her.
Sona: You look really happy today! Any special reason?
Dev: Yes my lord!
Sona: Go on…..
Dev: Disha Tyagi…..class 11th B….we met on FB, had some good talk….and over the days realised that we are more than friends. I’m in love Sonakshi. Like true waala love….the one you used to talk about. I love Disha.
Sonakshi knew that he wasn’t kidding. He was really serious and that pricked her heart, for reasons unknown to him. He had never said that he ‘Loved’ any girl. This was for the first time and after all the lecture she had given to him, she knew he was right about his feelings. He really loved Disha.
She had lost him this time….forever. But couldn’t let her eyes reflect her pain as his eyes were looking for a positive friendly response from her.
Sona: Dev are you sure about this? I mean she’s younger to you and….
Dev: Just a few months younger, how does it matter? Plus she is just like you….I mean…really serious about her career and stuff….but she’s equally serious about this relationship and so am I.
Sona: That’s great….I wish all the best to you then. Hope your ship sails forever. I’m happy for you Dev.
She tried to kill her feelings within her, forcing a smile to him. And he felt reassured with her approval of his new relationship.
The only little hope of getting her love, that Sonakshi harboured within her was just a mirage now. She was broken, she agreed, but this time she was strong enough to let go of her melancholy.
To stop herself from feeling bad or sad or hurt, she decided to stay away from his way. She channelled all her time and energy towards her studies and avoid talking to him as much as possible.
Dev did not find it weird coz obviously they were all hell busy with their practicals and vivas, and then the board exams. Even in the farewell they couldn’t speak to each other. But Dev did complement her this time as she looked really beautiful in her green saree.

She still avoided speaking to him. Elena had constantly been singing “Dil kya kare jab kisi se…kisi ko pyar ho jaaye” as she knew Sona loved him, though of course she hadn’t told her about this, but she was unaware of the fact that he loved someone else. She didn’t know what Sona had been going through.
It had been two months since they had properly talked.
Dev’s face was devoid of the joy that a person feels when he’s in a new relationship. There was something that didn’t let him feel happy. It was as if something was missing. There was no school anymore so he couldn’t chill out with friends, no teachers to be made fun of, no morning assemblies, no fun-filled lunch breaks, life had become monotonous. But it wasn’t just that. Something more important was missing. Sonakshi was missing and he knew he missed her the most.

One day he sat with his phone in order to relive the moments they had spent together. He was fond of taking pictures but not of keeping his gallery stuffed with useless photos.
He had deleted most of the pics but it amused him to find all the pics of him and Sonakshi intact.
He smiled uncontrollably seeing her cute antics, her pouts, her smiles, her winks, her super crazy pics with Elena…..everything made him so happy…..so happy that his face began glowing like LED lights.




Scrolling down the gallery he could see some screenshots from insta that had their group pics with crazy captions….He chuckled finding not a single pic of Jatin with them…coz he knew Kiara never let him join them in any of their outings. Poor Jattu.

Dev couldn’t get enough of these pictures. He wished he could revind and play those moments again. But unfortunately he couldn’t. And for the time being he had to survive with memories…. Memories of Sona.
