After the reunion Dev, Jatin and Elena decided to hangout. It had been a long time since the three of them were together. Elena had been pursuing Fashion Designing at Pune, while Jatin was busy studying Engineering at Roorkee. When Ele shifted to Delhi, Jatin moved to Bangalore, and when both of them were at Delhi, Dev was out for his business trips. Now they were all finally back together in the same city.
Jatin and Elena were completely unaware of all that had happened between devakshi 8 years back. Though, Elena at least had a hint that something was wrong between them, she’d never thought it would have anything to do with their love life. Poor Jattu, on the other hand, was just a newborn baby in this world of secrets.
Dev knew that convincing Sona was going to be a herculean task and that he would definitely need Jalena’s help for accomplishing this mission. So he decided to spill out the beans to his best buddies.
Dev: Guys! I wanted to say something.
Elena: Go on!
Dev: Woh actually……uhh…..there’s something I’ve been hiding from the two of you.
Elena: Hiding something from us??
Jatin: That’s impossible! Arre we’re chuddy-buddies, I know you inside out. Aisa kuch ho hi nahi sakta jo mujhe na pata ho.
Elena: Oh! Mr. I know it all! Please shut up and let him speak. Bolo Dev…..kya baat hai?
Dev: OK…..so when we were in school, me and Sonakshi were like super best friends. She knew everything about me, my likes, dislikes, my thoughts, my love lives etc etc.
Jatin: We already know this! Kuch naya bata!
Dev: Uhh……So, after the three relationship mishaps that I had, a realisation occured to me and I eventually discovered the reason why it never worked out with anyone else. It was all because I never really loved anyone other than her. She’s the first and last love of my life. Guys I….. I love Sonakshi!
That was it! Jatin and Elena couldn’t stop gawking at him. They knew that Dev and infatuation were twin brothers, but him falling for Sonakshi…..Miss. Anti-love was something they couldn’t gulp down their throats. Maybe because Devakshi had quite serenely maintained the ‘limits’ in their friendship and Jalena were quite convinced that they were nothing more than ‘best friends’.
This news left a devastating impact on Jatin’s hopes! He’d never expected Dev to hide such an important thing from him. He wanted to punch him hard for this but controlled his instincts and patiently lend his ears to Dev. All this while, Elena had been sitting mum. She felt something heavy in her heart.
Ele: Did you……did you tell her?
Dev: Yes I did….but I guess it was too late. She’d seen me switch over relationships so often that she couldn’t probably trust me anymore. And I don’t blame her for that. Her refusal was justified. She had her own reasons and I respect them. But, her decision to abandon me WAS wrong. She never gave me a chance to make her believe in my love for her, make her believe that this time I was true with my feelings. She just left me all alone…..with memories…..with the regret of not stopping her that day. And the worst part was that she broke all her ties with even you guys. Her reclusion was something I can never forgive her for. For 8 years none of us had a hint of her whereabouts. She has no idea what pain she’s caused to all of us. And I’m hell angry with her for that.
Dev was about to continue further when he noticed Elena sitting gloomily with her lashes lowered. Her eyes were brimmed with tears. Dev was confused, his eyes searching for the reason behind her tears.
Dev: Ele! Look at me…..are you crying? Why? What happened?
Jatin: Elena…..you alright??
Elena could hardly face them. Her guilt was eating her up. Somewhere in there, she was blaming herself for those 8 years Dev had to spend without Sonakshi. She could no more hold back her sob.
Elev I’m sorry Dev! It’s all my fault…. I’m really sorry!
Dev: Hey! Stop crying Ele please…..What are you sorry for? Kya hua hai?? Aaram se batao.
Ele: Mujhe pata tha Sonakshi kaha thi par maine kisi ko nahi bataya….tum dono ko bhi nahi….I’m such a fool.
Jatin: No you’re not. I’m sure you had a reason.
Dev: Exactly! Ele calm down….and tell us everything in detail.
Ele: You remember jab advance ka result aaya tha! I tried calling Sona a million times but uska call laga hi nahi. She’d changed her number. I wasn’t in touch with her for two whole weeks. Phir ek din uska call aaya and she told me that she is moving to AIIMS Jodhpur. I asked her to stay back and join a college at Delhi but she said this place suffocates her and that’s why she is leaving. She even asked me not to share this with anyone, especially with you Dev, and when I asked her the reason behind all this, she just said, “that is what will be the best for both of us”. I was bound by her promise. I had no idea about all that had happened between the two of you. Had I known it, I would have told you first Dev. I’m really sorry….meri wajah se tumhe Sona se door rehna pada.
Dev: Ele! Are you mad? Is this what you’re crying for? God!! Jatin samjha ise.
Jatin: Main kya samjhaaun? Mera toh jindagi barbaad ho giya!! Mere dono besties mujhse itni badi baat chhupa ke baithe the. Dhokha hua hai mere saath!
Gaaon waalon! Yahi hai iss zaalim zamaane ki sacchai…..dosti ke badle tanhaayi!?
Dev: Ho gaya tera? Drama King!! Ab Ele pe focus karein….ya aur nautanki karni hai?
Jatin: Beta tujhe toh main baad mein dekhta hoon…..and Elena don’t be stupid! There isn’t any fault of yours. You were just keeping your promise. That’s it.
Dev: Look Ele….. You are Sona’s best friend in the true sense. It’s obvious you didn’t know anything. You did what Sona asked you to and that too coz she said it was best for us. So where is your fault? You did what a true friend is supposed to do. So stop blaming yourself and cheer up!
Ele: I’m sorry Dev…
Dev: Ab ek aur baar sorry bola na…..toh main naraaz ho jaaunga! Samjhi?
Ele: OK baba samajh gayi!…..But wait! Ek baat main abhi bhi nahi samjhi!
Dev: Kaun si baat?
Ele: Agar tum Sona se pyaar karte ho toh party mein woh ladki kaun thi tumhaare saath?

Ele: Your cousin??
Jatin: Ya….didn’t I tell you about her? Sanyukta Aggarwal, my batchmate at FITE? Our famous trio?….Me, Sanyu and Randhir?? I’d even shown you the pics, remember??
Ele: Oh yes! yes! yes! Now I remember, the three of you went to the US for some ‘Dream Team’ project right?
Jatin: Exactly! She’s the same girl.
Ele: Holy shit! Sonakshi thinks she’s your girlfriend Dev.

Jatin: So she must be jealous right? As in, agar woh bhi tujhse pyar karti hai, toh she’ll be jealous of your proximities with Sanyu and that’ll lead her towards confession. And is izhaar-e-mohabbat ki thodi si jhalak toh aaj party mein dikh hi gayi thi.
Dev: Matlab?
Jatin (sings): Maana ke hum yaar nahi! Lo tay hai ke pyaar nahi……
Dev: Ahaan….yaar toh hum hain….aur pyaar bhi bahut hai….bas madam maan jaaye ek baar.
Ele: Tum ek baar bol ke toh dekho, I’m sure she’s waiting for it. As far as I know how her loves you since school days, but she’ll never confess it first. Mujhe pata tha woh tumse pyar karti hai but neither of us were sure about you.
Jatin: Kya yaar Elena! TUMHE bhi pata tha?
Dev: Arre waah! TUJHE se TUMHE!! Yeh kab hua??
Jatin: Tu jaanta hai na Dev?
Ele: Dev jaanta hai??

Ele: Jatin tum na….poori duniya mein dhindhora peet do!
Jatin: Peet doonga sweetie….itni bhi kya jaldi hai??
Elena tried giving him an angry look but couldn’t hide the coral hue filling her cheeks. Dev was thoroughly enjoying himself.
Dev: Oho Ele….blushing!!!
Ele: Shut up Dev! Mujhe zyada pareshaan kiya toh main Sona se complain kar doongi.
Dev: Use ek baar pata toh chalne do….I bet she’ll tease both of you more than I do.
Jatin: Accha abhi humari baat chhod, aur Sona pe focus kar. Do you have a plan?
Dev: Yup! But Ele….we’ll badly need your help!
Ele: Anything for you Dev!
Jatin: So guys MISSION SONAKSHI PATAO begins!
At Elena’s Home….
Ele: Sona why did you leave the party so early?
Sona: Nothing ya, I was just too tired…..that’s it.
Ele: Hey by the way, I have a fashion event next Saturday and you have to come.
Sona: But Ele…..
Ele: And guess who’s the chief guest?
Sona: Who??
Ele: Shah Rukh Khan!!!
Sona: Oh my god Ele!! Are you kidding me?
Ele: No babes! You’re gonna have a great time next weekend.
Sona: Woah! I’m so excited! I can’t wait for Saturday!
Ele: That’s great!

A week later, at Ele’s fashion event…
A pair of beautiful kohl-laden eyes were waiting someone’s arrival at the event. The moment those eyes met his, breaths were set on fire. The sparkle in her eyes were an oumatch to the stars, but she had to conceal it, cuz she belonged to someone else.
After about an hour Shahrukh Khan, the king of romance and special guest for the event was in the house. Prominent fashion designers were here to meet the emerging talent from across the world. Elena being one of the budding fashion designers in India, was going to witness models walking down the ramp in her designs. It was indeed a big day for her and so was it for Dev, who couldn’t stop stealing glances at his love, who was defining BEAUTY today.
The event was a huge success. All the newcomers including Ele won a lot of praises for their hard work and soon after the show was over the chief guests left, while the designers and all the other guests stayed back.
It was not the end yet, a surprise was about to knock Sonakshi’s door.
All the events about to occur ahead work pre-planned. The first surprise being Dev Dixit’s performance. Dev was a prominent figure in and across Delhi so the organizers took pleasure and having him perform at their event. Most of the people knew that Mr. Dixit was a good singer and over the years his guitar’s been his only love. But ironically, his love was completely unaware of this musical side of him.
The moment the spotlight revealed Dev sitting with his guitar at the centre of the stage Sonakshi’s jaw dropped down in amazement.
Sona: He sings????
Sam: Any doubt Ms. Bose??
The night was all his now. He was all set to pour his heart out.
