The Episode starts with Hughes saying I will put our British flag here tomorrow, beat these people but make them work faster, fools like Malerao will work for us. Malerao hears a girl singing a bhajan. He smiles and goes in search of her. He reaches the temple. He turns to leave. Pandit greets him. Malerao says I heard a sweet melodious voice, don’t know how. Pandit says Kesar is an orphan, she comes here to serve, she lives here, she has come from her Mausi’s place, if she made a mistake. Malerao says no, I want to give her a reward. Pandit says she has much esteem, she won’t take any reward, she won’t meet you if she knows you are a prince. Malerao gives his crown to him. He says if I meet him like an ordinary man then she will meet me right. He removes the jewellery and gives to him.
He says don’t get scared, I won’t do anything, I m a traveller, I m tired, I m thirsty, can I get water, fine, I will go. He praises her voice. Kesar opens the door. He sees her and smiles. He asks for water. She gets it for him. They have a talk. He smiles hearing her thoughts. Hughes puts his flag and salutes it. Ahilya and Tukoji come to meet Hughes. The guard stops her and says you can’t go ahead without permission. She says I don’t need any permission. Hughes says this rule doesn’t imply to us, I can permit you as a friend but. Tukoji gets his sword. Hughes says but you can’t come with your rights. She says but its illegal. He asks how, come, I will show you something. He shows the agreement with Ahilya’s stamp. Tukoji checks and says its your stamp. She asks how can this happen, they would have made a fake stamp, they will get punished. Hughes says its real stamp, Malerao has given this to me. She thinks what did you do Malerao, such a big cheat.
Hughes says Malerao has given this to me, there is no unity in people of Malwa, people will never trust you. She sees the villagers beaten up. She feels bad. She thinks I didn’t imagine the people will get tortured here. Hughes introduces his wife Julia. He says I will put my flag here. Ahilya sees the flag. Julia and Hughes ask Ahilya to keep visiting. Ahilya thinks britishers want to make them mental slaves. She leaves. Hughes smiles. He says one who stays silent are very lethal, she will fight back, prepare to fight her.
