Sayaam is shown standing in front of a mirror buttoning his sherwani. Its cream and gold, to match Krishna’s outfit. He thinks.
Sayaam: My engagement to Krishna is today. I will soon make her mine, forever.
He smiles but it fades, when he recalls her crying on the terrace.
Sayaam: Dont worry, Krishna. I will keep you happy through every hardship you face.
He calls out to Krishna, who is in the washroom.
Sayaam: Get ready and come out, Krishna. Im going outside to attend to the guests.
He leaves. Krishna come out the washroom and sits at the dressing table. She leaves her wavy hair hanging by her shoulders and adorns herself in simple, elegant jewellery. Her makeup is light. She talks to herself.
Krishna: Wedding number 2. To the same heartless person as before ……
She sheds a tear. Soumya calls her from outside and she quickly wipes it. Soumya enters.
Soumya: You look beautiful, beta.
She caresses Krishna’s face and cries tears of happiness.
Soumya: Im so glad I can be a part of your wedding.
Krishna: Mom, why are you crying? Its not like this is my first marriage.
Soumya: Yes, beta, I know. Im just thinking how proud your papa would have been to see you like this.
They both cry.
Soumya: Okay, thats enough. Its time for the engagement.
Soumya leads Krishna out the room and into the hall. There is a beautifully decorated stage, plotted in the centre, with 2 embroidered sofas for each couple. There, Sayaam waits on one, and Veer and Yuvani are already seated on the other. Sayaam smiles when he catches sight of Krishna. He is mesmerised by her simple beauty. The elegance of the aura around her. Soumya takes Krishna and seats her next to Sayaam. He whispers to her.
Sayaam: You look nice.
Krishna looks at him slightly, but doesnt smile.
Suhani: Okay. Veer and Yuvani are older, so they can go first.
Veer and Yuvani exchange rings. They hug and everyone applauds. Yuvaan hands the ring box to Sayaam and one to Krishna. Sayaam takes Krishna’s hand gently and Krishna feels a current run through her body, feeling his touch. He places the ring on her finger and looks at her. She avoids his gaze. Krishna holds his hand and places the ring on Sayaam’s finger. She moves her hand away, but Sayaam grips it, smiling. Krishna is shocked. The guests start to clap, and Krishna has no choice but to hold his hand.
Yuvaan: Sayaam wont even let go of his wife’s hand.
Everyone laughs and Sayaam and Krishna look at eachother.
