I followed Ragini as she ran into our room. I entered the room and closed the door behind me. She turned around to look at me and asked, “Lakshya, why did you close the door?” I genuinely smiled at her and motioned towards her. “Lakshya,” she called out as I held onto her waist and pulled her closer to me. “Yes darling?” I asked kissing her left cheek. She turned pink and lowering her gaze muttered, “Leave me.” I kissed her other cheek and whispered, “No.” “Lakshya,” she exclaimed and hugged me tightly. I lifted her head and smiled looking at her as she turned completely pink. “Ragini,” I whispered. She pushed me back as I held onto her hand and both of us fell down on the bed beside each other. I smiled and wrapping her arms around her waist pulled her closer to me. She tried to free herself, but I tightened my grip and moved closer to her. I was about to kiss her when suddenly the doorbell rang. She quickly freed herself and stood up settling her hair. “Ragini, wait,” I shouted as she hurried and ran downstairs. “She’ll drive me crazy,” I muttered and ran downstairs.
I came down to the hall as I saw Maa and Di settling down on the sofa. I frowned and walked over to them. “Ragini, are you okay?” Maa asked. “What happened . . ,” Ragini was about to complete when I squeezed her hand and said, “Ya.” “Okay. By the way, the marriage dates are fixed for the next month so we planned to go for an outing with Sujata ji and Sanskaar now to the farmhouse. We’ll return tomorrow”, maa said. “Maa, I think Ragini needs some rest for the day,” I replied, but Ragini shook her head and said, “I’m alright.” I frowned while she added, “When are we leaving?” I felt disgusted and while checking my phone said, “I’ve an important meeting to be attended today. You all carry on. I won’t be able to come.” “Lakshya,” maa said trying to convince me, but I interrupted her and replied, “It’s really important. You all carry on.” I left Ragini’s hand and she looked at me.

I glanced back at her once and went upstairs as Maa and Di continued talking about the outing while Ragini excused herself and followed me.

I entered the room and was about to close the door when Ragini entered and asked, “Do you really have a meeting?” “Hmm,” I replied picking up my files from the table. “Lakshya, but why do I think you’re lying?” I was about to go out of the room as Ragini held my wrist and calmly asked, “Lakshya, what happened?” I turned around and frustrated, yet calmly said, “Why don’t you understand that I want to spend some time with you? I was handling the situation, right? Why did you speak in between?” Ragini smiled and wrapping her arms around my neck whispered, “Why are you so desperate?” I scrunched my face. I’d a menace in the form of a wife, isn’t it? “I need to attend the meeting.” “Fine; I thought we could spend time together at the farmhouse, but since you’re so busy so I won’t stop you. Go”, she replied moving back and untangling her arms from around my neck. I pulled her closer by her waist and whispered, “The meeting is cancelled.” She hit on my chest and hugged me tightly. I smiled and hugged her back.

I was standing in front of the mirror struggling to zip up my crop top when Lakshya caught hold of my hand and zipped it. “You look beautiful in this outfit,” Lakshya said. I smiled and said, “Thank you!” “I’m ready. Let’s go,” I added applying my gloss. Lakshya wrapped his arms around me and said, “But no one else is. They’re giving us free time to spend with each other.” I blushed as he rested his chin on my shoulder and said, “Don’t blush so much or else, I’ll lose my control.” I blushed harder as Lakshya added, “So, you want me to lose my control.” I widened my eyes and pushing him back said, “I’m going down. You get ready and come.” I turned around to walk out of the room when Lakshya held my wrist and turned me around. I looked at him in confusion as he started moving towards me. “L . . Lakshya,” I stammered moving back. I kept on stepping back unless I was struck by the door while Lakshya bolted the door. He moved closer to me and kissed my cheek as I said, “Lakshya, get ready.” “Help me,” he replied making me widen my eyes. “Lakshya” I exclaimed pushing him back and quickly unbolting the door ran downstairs.

We boarded the bus about half an hour later. Maa and Bhai had come up to Maheshwari Mansion and then, boarded the bus. Sujata Maa and Annapurna Maa were sitting together in the front, Bhai and Di in the middle talking to each other while I and Lakshya occupied the last seat. I was sitting next to the window and was just seeing outside the window when suddenly Lakshya placed his hand on mine. I quickly pulled my hand and asked, “What are you doing? Someone will see.” He entwined his left hand with mine and whispered, “Let them see. They’ll get to know how much I love you.” I blushed as he caressed my face and said, “My cute tomato.”

I felt the blood shot through my cheeks and I pushed him away. “Lakshya stay away,” I warned him, but he pulled me closer by my waist. I felt shivers down my body as he slid his hand under my top and his skin came in contact with mine. “Lakshya” I exclaimed trying to move his hand. “Yes pretty,” he replied kissing my intertwined hand. “Lakshya, everyone is around us. Please stop it,” I said. He nodded shook his head and scooted closer to me when maa said, “We’re finally here. Come on.” Lakshya moved away as I quickly ran in front heaving a sigh of relief.

About two hours later, all of us gathered in the hall and were talking when Lakshya whispered, “Let’s go up.” I widened my eyes and shook my head. Certainly, there was no way I was leaving the conversation in the middle and feeling embarrassed. “Let’s go nah . . What do you want to do here? We aren’t even participating in the conversation,” he said. “Lakshya” I exclaimed slowly. “It’d be so mean. See, even Bhai and Di are here only. What will all of them think of us if we suddenly get up and go to our room?” I replied whispering. “Let them think whatever they want to. I want to spend some time with you and about Bhai and Di they didn’t have fate like ours,” he replied. “No.” “Ragini please;”

“It’s good to see you so desperate Lakshya Maheshwari,” I thought and replied to Lakshya shaking my head. He gave me a disgusted look and looked away. I placed my hand on his, but he pulled his hand away and said, “I’ll get some water for myself.” I smiled looking at his behaviour and continued talking with everyone else.
It was almost 11 now and I and Lakshya hadn’t talked to each other after evening. Around 15 minutes later, I went to Lakshya and said, “Lakshya, it’s quite late.

Come, let’s go and sleep.” “You go, I’ll stay here,” he replied annoyed. I frowned and said, “I’m sorry nah.” “No, Ragini. It’s alright. You should give all your time to the family. Who am I?” “Lakshya” I settled down beside him and placed my hand on his. “I’m sorry. You know it would’ve been so wrong if we would’ve just walked away in the middle of everything. What would Sujata Maa and Annapurna Maa think of us?” I said trying to convince him. “Even I wanted to spend time with you, but that doesn’t mean we’ll just forget about everyone else around us, right? Anyway, let’s go now. All my time is yours and I’m all yours now,” I added and looked down. “I was wrong Ragini. I am always wrong Ragini. Why did you choose to be with me?

We could’ve just told everyone about what I did with you and you could’ve just freed yourself from this relation,” Lakshya replied as a drop of tear fell down on my hand. I looked up at him and found him crying. I wiped his tears and said, “No Lakshya. You aren’t wrong. Situations forced you to be like that. You were right all the time.” “No, Ragini. You should’ve left me”, he replied. “Actually, you’re right. Anyway, there were so many of my college batch mates who proposed me. Someone would be unmarried. I’ll just talk to them,” I replied picking up my phone. Lakshya snatched the phone from my hand and said, “You’re mine.” I smiled and whispered, “Always.” He smiled and wrapped his hand around my shoulder. “Shall we?” I blinked back the tears and nodded my tears. I was happy and contented.

We both entered the room and he removed his hand from my shoulder. He closed the door behind him and stared at me. I noticed his chiselled face, his shaggy hair and his deep brown eyes. He was the epitome of perfection. “Ragini,” he muttered. “Hmm?” “I’m sorry for whatever I did back then. I should’ve known the entire chaos and then, taken any step. Will you be ever able to forgive me?” he walked towards me and I, in a reflex, stepped back. “Lakshya, I’ve forgiven you. I don’t know whether what you did was right or wrong, but maybe if I was in your place, I’d have done the same too. Or maybe I wouldn’t have, but if we’re together today then, it is because of our past too. I’m not telling you to forget the past because we learn from our past experiences, but just move on from the past. You need to live what life is offering you at the current situation,” I reply. “How can you be so wise and generous Ragini after all that I’d done to you?” “It’s a part of the life Lakshya. If I don’t forgive you today, may be not now, but later I’d have repented about it. I’d have always thought that I’d a chance to win you back. You were repenting about whatever you’d done before and I didn’t even bother to look back for once and give our relation a chance.”

He smiled at me and little did I realise that I had been moving back this entire time unless my back collided with the wall. Lakshya moved toward me and I looked at him. He’d changed and I could see it in his eyes. “Ragini,” he whispered huskily. I looked directly in his eyes. He cornered me against the wall and looked at me. His eyes noted my face intently and then, his eyes fell on my lips. He looked back at me. I could feel my heart racing. I pushed him aside and remarked, “Issh . . Ki filmy?” He laughed and I walked toward the bed when he held my wrist. I looked back at him and he said, “Ragini, aren’t you comfortable with me?” I looked at him; his eyes showed that he was scared about my response.

I stood up on my heels and kissed him. He stood idle for a few seconds when I hit his stomach and pulled back. I laughed and said, “Mr. Confused Husband.” He narrowed his gaze at me and pulled wrapped his arms around my waist. He pulled me close and before I could process the actions, he kissed me back. I smiled against his lips and reciprocated back while tousling his hair. He tightened his grasp around my waist and pulled me closer to him. He bit my lower lip slowly as I let out a moan and our tongues fought against each other’s for dominance. I let him dominate and I basked his taste.

We pulled back breathless and I lowered my gaze, still devouring the kiss. “Embarrassed much, is it?” I shook my head and then, nodded my head. I wasn’t, but I was. I mentally laughed at my confusion and heard Lakshya laughing too. For the first time in these last two months, I’d seen him laughing so heartily. It felt so good seeing him laughing. We’d a very different destiny since the beginning, but now all that matters is that we both are together and I’d never think of leaving him. May be he did act very nonhuman toward me, but I knew he’d an excellent human inside him. Bringing out the original from him was what I’d always craved and tried for and now when I see him, I’m happy and I feel blessed to have him in my life. Lakshya was one gem of a person!
