Raglak – Is everything really so perfect as it seems to be?
Segment 2

A/N: Thank you all for your encouraging support. I couldn’t ask for any better. Also, about Ragini’s character, I assure you all to portray it as a strong one, but right now she needs time to understand things. She needs to know why Lakshya is behaving like this.

I came back to the room and as I was about to enter when someone spilled water on my face. I wiped the water off my face while I saw Lakshya standing with an empty glass and a frustrated face. “Do you want everyone to know that you’re taking a shower in the servant’s bathroom? What took you so long?” I ignored his question and walked inside closing the door. “I asked you something”, he said arrogantly. “If you’re not answerable to me then even I’m not. Don’t ask me any questions further”, I said trying to be rude. He broke the glass and came towards me. He caught hold of my hair and said, “I’m not answerable to you but, you’re not allowed to do anything in this house without my knowledge.” “Leave me”, I said. He tightened his grip and said, “You’re not the one who’s going to tell me what to do and what not to.” I screamed in pain and said, “I’ll file a case of domestic violence against you Mr. Lakshya Maheshwari.” “If you can, first try getting of this house”, said Lakshya. “What do you mean?”, I asked him. He pulled me closer and said, “Don’t you understand when I say that you don’t have any rights to question me?” I cried while he pushed me away and my hand hit the broken glass pieces on the floor. I shook my hand in pain and quickly sucked the blood. Lakshya went to the cupboard and took out the first aid. He again applied Dettol on the cotton and as he was about to clean my blood I got up and tried walking out of the room quickly but, he came and stood in front of me. I quickly put my hands behind my back but, Lakshya pulled my hands and cleaned my hand. I closed my eyes due to pain while tears rolled down my cheeks. He aided my hand and walked out of the room. I cried holding my hand but, wiped my tears as maa called me to the hall.

“Ya maa”, I said coming down to the hall. “What yaa? Don’t you want to have your breakfast? Come sit”, maa said smilingly. I went and hugged her while she hugged me back and asked, “What happened Ragini?” Lakshya narrowed his gaze at me while I replied pulling back, “Nothing maa. Actually I was missing maa and you’re also my maa so, that’s why.” Maa smiled at me and said, “What happened to your hand and how did you get hurt on your forehead?” I looked at Lakshya and was about to reply when Lakshya said, “See na maa, I told her so many times to take care of herself but, she doesn’t listen to me. Today, she slipped in the bathroom.” “Ragini please take care of yourself. What will we answer your mom if she asks us? And, if you need anything at all you can always call me”, said Maa. I smiled at maa and we sat down for breakfast. We were eating when suddenly Lakshya held my hand from under the table and tightening his grip nodded his head in a no. “I’m done. I’m in my room if you need anything please don’t hesitate to tell me Ragini”, said Maa. I smiled at her as she climbed up the stairs and went to her room. Lakshya left my hand and got up from his chair. He pulled me up holding my hand and said, “You aren’t allowed to sit and eat with us. You’ll eat the left out food everyday.” He loosened his grip and walked away to his room leaving me crying behind. I was sitting down on the floor and crying on my fate when someone from behind placed their hand on my shoulder. I quickly wiped my tears and looked behind. I saw a girl of around 25 years standing behind me. She sat down on the floor and hugged me. I hugged her back and felt an unknown peace. I pulled back and asked, “What’s your name?” She stood up and went upstairs. She entered the isolated room I saw in the morning. I was about to go to her room when Lakshya called out for me.

I entered the room while Lakshya pulled me closer and twisted my hand behind my back. “Ahh”, I exclaimed. “What were you doing for so long?”, he asked me. I ignored his question and looked away. He tightened his grip and said, “Answer me in one go or else you’ll see the worst of me.” I let out a faint laugh and said, “What could be worse than this? Will you rape me now?” “I’m not your brother that I’ll rape you”, said Lakshya loosening his grip and walked out of the room banging the door. My mind kept on pondering about Lakshya’s words. The only thought that struck my mind was “What does he mean by he’s not like my brother to rape me”. I sat down on the bed and thought about it when Lakshya entered the room and shouted, “Get down from the bed immediately.” I stood up and looked at him with blank expressions. He came close to me and pressed my cheeks with his one hand while I tried to move away. “The only thing you can use in this room is that mattress, pillow and the blanket”, said Lakshya. “Fine”, I replied pushing him back and went and sat down on the mattress.

Lakshya was working on his laptop when I said, “I need a divorce.” Lakshya looked up at me and let out a faint laugh. He walked up to me and held my hand tightly. He pulled me up and said, “I hope you know a divorce works out only when both husband and wife want it.” I stood there confused while he added, “Who told you I need a divorce?” He twisted my hand and said, “It makes me feel good to see you in pain.” I was about to reply when someone knocked the door and said, “Ragini-Lakshya, dinner is ready. Come and have it.” “Ya maa”, replied Lakshya pushing me on the mattress on the floor. “I hope you remember what I said in the morning. You should manage the situation and not come down till we aren’t done. Also, go sleep on the bed for now”, said Lakshya. I held my hand and laid down properly on the bed while Lakshya opened the door. “What took you so long?”, asked Maa. “Actually Ragini isn’t well so, I was just sitting beside her”, lied Lakshya. Maa quickly walked inside while I closed my eyes. She placed her hand on my forehead while I opened my eyes slowly. She smiled at me while I smiled back and tried getting up. “It’s okay. Lay down. Should I send something for you in the room?”, asked Maa. Lakshya narrowed his gaze at me while I said, “No maa, I’m not hungry.” “No, you’ve to eat otherwise how will you become fine. I’ll make you eat by my own hands”, said Maa and walked out of the room quickly. Lakshya came close to me and pressed my cheeks. “You better not have anything”, he said. “I can’t refuse maa”, I replied looking into his eyes. “Don’t act as if though you love her a lot and care about her emotions a lot”, said Lakshya. I blinked my eyes trying to clear the blurry vision due to the tears while Lakshya left me. I was shocked at his behaviour but, soon saw maa entering the room and understood the reason behind his action. Maa picked up a spoonful of rice and held it in front of my mouth. I nodded my head in a no. She forcefully made me eat it while I refused to gulp in. “Ragini, you need to recover soon. I want to see my normal Ragini”, said Maa while I smiled and gulped in the food. Maa picked up one more spoonful of rice when I said, “Maa, please I’m not hungry.” “Maa, give the plate to me. You go have dinner. I’ll also see how she doesn’t eat”, said Lakshya. Maa smiled at him and went down to the hall. I quickly climbed down the bed and laid down on the mattress. Lakshya came and sat next to me. “Open your mouth”, he said. I looked away as the tears rolled down my cheeks. He made me to face him and brought a piece of chapatti in front of my mouth. I hesitantly opened my mouth while he ate it and walked up to the sofa. “What did you think? I’ll make you eat?”, he asked while having his dinner. “I don’t expect anything from you. When you can lie to your mom so easily then you can do anything”, I replied. He placed the plate on the table and walked towards me picking up the water jug. As I expected he splashed the water on my face. I got up from the mattress and took out his handkerchief from his pocket. I wiped my face and forwarding my hand said, “Here you go.” He held my hand and twisted it. “Don’t try to act smart”, he said. “I’m sorry but, I’m not dumb”, I replied trying to free my hand. He tightened his grip and said, “Stay in your limits.” “Mr. Lakshya Maheshwari you’re talking about limits! It seems funny”, I replied letting out a faint laugh. He pushed me back as my hand hit the side of the bed. He walked away and picked up the plate from the table. He again walked towards me and forwarding the plate said, “I’m done. You can have this.” I ignored him and laid down on the mattress and pulled the blanket over myself.
