Rajan Shahi, the renowned producer behind popular TV shows like Anupamaa and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, is known for shuffling his cast members based on the requirements of his shows. Recently, he transitioned actress Garvita Sadhwani from Baatein Kuch Ankahee Si to Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. Now, he has made another significant move by casting Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai actor Gaurav Sharma as the new Toshu in Anupamaa.
When asked about the future of his character Yuvraj in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Gaurav Sharma responded, “Not anytime soon! Honestly, this was my first question to the makers when I was offered Toshu. I wanted to know the future of Yuvraj. As far as I know, an actor can’t be a part of two shows simultaneously on the same channel.”
He further explained, “When I asked about the same, I was told that Yuvraj is not required in the show anytime soon and whenever he needs to return to the show, makers would adjust my dates and would give a little break to Toshu from the show so that I could play Yuvraj in another show.”
Gaurav shared that when he received a call from the makers for a meeting, he initially thought it would be regarding Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. However, the offer turned out to be for the role of Toshu in Anupamaa. He mentioned that he agreed to the role within one minute of hearing the narration.
Gaurav also highlighted his interest in roles that allow him to explore opportunities in the digital space. He mentioned that taking on diverse roles in TV shows helps him expand his horizons and opens up new avenues in the entertainment industry.
By moving actors between his shows, Rajan Shahi continues to keep his productions dynamic and engaging, offering fresh storylines and character developments that keep the audience hooked. The transition of Gaurav Sharma to Anupamaa as Toshu is a testament to this strategy, ensuring that both shows benefit from the versatile talents of their cast members.
