RIANSH: Lost Time – 1 of 4

Hi, y’all! This is a short stint that I’ve had in my mind for a while, but I’d been trying to dismiss the idea of writing it because I was so unsure. I still am, but I thought I’d write down at least one part and see what you guys think of it, to decide the future of the story.

This idea is a continuation from the episode where Kabir shot Vansh and he fell from the cliff. However, there are quite a few significant changes from the show, and I’ll mention them just before beginning the first part.

1] Vansh here, is a doctor and part heir of a very reputed chain of hospitals, Raisinghania Hospital. He was the one who’d appointed Riddhima as Siya’s physiotherapist, but Kabir had used that as an opportunity for himself, from where the show plot continues almost similarly.

2] Aryan and Chanchal were a part of Vansh’s plan where everything they’d done was to gain Kabir and Anupriya’s trust. All their sub-plans against Riddhima were out of their over-protectiveness for Vansh.

3] Vansh doesn’t know of Anupriya being involved with Kabir, like the show, but Siya does and is currently enacting to be in a state of coma, just to ensure she can foil the plan of Kabir and Anupriya.

4] Riddhima and Vansh here, have consummated their marriage.

A lot of this mightn’t fit in with the happenings in the show, but it fits in well for the future (hopefully) of this story, so I hope you guys don’t mind it. 🙈

LOST TIME – PART 1

He paced the length of the corridor impatiently, the ends of his nerves wrecking. The entire scenario had unfolded impulsively, and he was still attempting to register the sequence of events. He had seen her in the distance, running toward him, but he’d thought she was there to support his worst enemy. After all, she was the spy in the house, whom Kabir had sent.

However, she’d stood in front of him and allowed the bullet to wound her, and he’d seen how the bullet had pierced through the center of her before she’d fallen on the ground. He’d held her right there before her head hit against the boulder and immediately rushed her to the hospital.

He hadn’t wanted to leave her surgery in anyone else’s hands, but he hadn’t been able to hold any of the surgical tools with his shaking hands. He couldn’t believe what had happened even as her fragile form lay on the bed, completely unconscious.

“Vansh, where’s Riddhima? And why is there so much blood on your blazer?”

He turned around toward Dadi and couldn’t ignore the way his heart clenched in fear and anxiety again. He’d asked Ishani and Angre to not spill the news, but they certainly hadn’t been able to hold it to themselves.

Vansh: Dadi, don’t worry. Everything is fine, Riddhima is in the OT and she’ll be with us any minute.

Dadi: You’re lying. I heard you saying, Riddhima’s condition was critical.

Ishani (slowly walking toward them): Sorry, Bhai! The phone was on loudspeaker and Dadi didn’t let me switch either.

Vansh (nodding his head): Where’s Angre?

Ishani: He’s trying to locate Kabir. But Bhai (in a soft voice) Riddhima.. I always thought she was there to harm you, but…

Vansh pulled her closer and hugged her, trying to comfort her. He knew she was blaming herself for misunderstanding Riddhima, but it wasn’t a fault she needed to rectify alone. He’d misunderstood her several times too, from the beginning and he needed to make-up for it to her.

When the Doctor walked out of the Operation Theatre several minutes later, Vansh ran toward him, wanting to understand his wife’s condition. His insides had curled in anxiety and restlessness, and he knew, he wouldn’t be able to find peace until he’d seen her for himself – fit and fine.

Vansh: Dr. Mehta, how is Riddhima? How is she doing now?

Dr. Mehta: I need to have a word with you, Sir.

Vansh: What is it, Dr. Mehta? All other things can wait. My wife is my priority at this point of time.

Dr. Mehta: It is about Ma’am, Sir. Can we please talk in your cabin?

Dadi: What has happened to Riddhima? Why can’t you talk here, in front of us?

Vansh: Dadi, please. Let me talk to Dr. Mehra, alone.

————

Dr. Mehra: But Sir…

Vansh: I’ve told you my decision, Dr. Mehta, and there’s nothing that’s going to change that. Riddhima is my wife and her safety matters to me the most right now. I don’t care what you think, but get the surgery done and shift her to one of the wards.

Dr. Mehra, Sir, but this could impact your future…

Vansh: Mr. Mehta! OT, NOW!

He saw as the Doctor nodded at him and hurried toward the Operation Theatre. As the door slammed shut, Vansh banged his fist against the desk-top and muffled his scream of frustration.

Why did life have to be so hard on him?

Hours later, when the sky had darkened and the visiting hours had been closed, Vansh sat beside Riddhima in one of the general wards and held her hand as she slowly breathed through the oxygen mask in place. He figured, the dosage of anesthesia would begin fading anytime soon and Riddhima would slowly gain consciousness.

Minutes later, when Riddhima flickered her eyes, Vansh held onto her hand tighter, willing to support her in any possible manner. He saw how she slowly blinked her eyes and looked around the ward, trying to understand her surroundings.

Vansh: Riddhima!

As the voice echoed in the emptiness of the room, a course of displeasure wavered within her and he found her frightening to bits and pieces. Her eyes widened and her figure succumbed in fear, her lips quivering with each passing second.

Riddhima: Where’s Vansh?

Vansh (standing up quickly): I’m here, Riddhima. What’s happened?

Riddhima: He… He will kill.. He will kill my… my Vansh. I’ve to… I’ve to save him.

Vansh: Riddhima, calm down. I’m here, right beside you.

As her condition worsened, Vansh held onto her hand tightly and immediately, picked up an injection of anesthesia from the side-table. He realized, she was still traumatized with the occurrences from the morning and hadn’t yet recovered.

He pushed the injection into her upper arm and rubbed his fingers over her skin to soothe her pain.

Riddhima: Vansh! I’ve to save you, I… I love…

As the words began slipping past her lips, he saw how she weakened under the dosage and slowly fell unconscious. He hadn’t wanted to do this to her, but it seemed necessary for her to recover.

He decided, the next morning, when she’d wake up, he’d talk to her and make her understand that everything was now fine and under control. That she needn’t worry about him, anymore.

Although, he knew, he had a lot to worry about. For now, and for the days that were to come.

Alright, that’d be it for the first part. I guess, this story mightn’t really be very great, so do let me know if you guys want me to discontinue it. And in case you want me to continue it, do let me know what you think of it and in case of any changes needed, do suggest. Like always thank you for reading!

Also, for anyone waiting for Becoming Mrs. Raisinghania, I hope to have that up by tomorrow night (IST), and I’m extremely sorry for the wait.
