Actress Riya Deepsi who is known for being rather patient with the kind of roles she chooses to essay has been on a break since last two years. The actress recently made her comeback with the show, Tere Bina Jiya Jaye Na.
Deepsi who is known for his performance in shows like Mahabharat, Bharat Ka Veer Putra — Maharana Pratap and was last seen in Porus. In a recent interview, Deepsi talked about his comeback in a recent interview with ETimes TV and shared, “There has been a gap because I wanted to take up a character that interests me. I also wanted to take a break from mythological and historical genres. I wanted to do something different as an actor. Why should I not enjoy the privilege of being an actor, which is to be able to explore various characters in a lifetime? Though I was getting offers, I was looking for something that I hadn’t attempted before. I wanted to take up a show that resonates with today’s audience or a social drama.”
Talking about how it took a while for her to reach the understanding, she said, “I was scared initially to take a break. I have always heard people say, ‘ Jo dikhta hai woh bikta hain’. Believing that, I also did some work that I could have easily avoided and I regretted it later. I learnt from my mistakes. This time around, I didn’t allow the thought to bog me down, which could make me take up some work and not feel satisfied with it. That’s why I didn’t pick anything I wasn’t interested in. I want to enjoy the process when I step out to work.”
When asked how she managed to survive in Mumbai for two years without any stable work, “It is indeed difficult and challenging to sustain yourself in a city like Mumbai and I have seen my actor friends, who stay away from home, take up everything that comes their way. I am blessed that I stay with my family in Mumbai. This is one of the reasons I could wait for the right kind of role and not run after every opportunity.”
