Roadies 19 contestant Manpreet Kaur opens up about her courageous battle against a serial killer

Manpreet Kaur, a Bhangra instructor hailing from Punjab, has not only won accolades for her bravery but also emerged victorious against a near-fatal attack by a ruthless serial killer. Though she faced eviction in a major vote-out during a reality show, her real-life story of survival and resilience is nothing short of awe-inspiring.

In 2013, Manpreet fell victim to the serial killer who had already claimed two lives. Disguised as an auto-rickshaw driver, the perpetrator kidnapped her despite her stay at Inspector’s residence, where she was living as a paying guest, mistaking her for his daughter.

The horror of that fateful morning is etched in her memory. Under the pouring rain at 5 am, Manpreet endured unimaginable torture. The assailant violently stabbed her multiple times with a screwdriver, inflicting severe damage to her body, puncturing her lungs, and leaving her in critical condition.

Despite the excruciating pain and life-threatening injuries, Manpreet’s indomitable spirit led her to fight back. In a desperate struggle, she managed to stab the attacker with her pencil heel and grabbed his neck before he finally fled, believing her to be on the brink of death.

The ordeal didn’t end there. Stranded on the ground for hours, passersby callously ignored her cries for help, assuming she was a drunk accident victim. With her vocal chords severely damaged, she couldn’t make her agony known to those around her.

Drawing strength from within, Manpreet vowed to survive and ensure that no one else suffered a similar fate. Crawling for kilometers, she was eventually discovered by a compassionate family who took her to the hospital. However, the road to recovery was fraught with obstacles, as doctors hesitated to treat her due to police involvement.

Despite the odds, Manpreet fought for her life and sought justice. Providing vital information to the police, she helped create a sketch that led to the capture of one of the criminals. Throughout the grueling legal process, she remained resolute, testifying against the assailant and securing a life imprisonment sentence for him in December 2015.

For her remarkable bravery and instrumental role in apprehending the perpetrator, Manpreet was recognized with the district bravery award. Her courageous battle against adversity serves as an inspiration to all, a testament to the unyielding spirit that refuses to be defeated by life’s darkest moments.
