Pandya Store, a show that has captivated Hindi television audiences, is set to go off-air. The show, which began with the story of the Pandya family starring Kinshuk Mahajan, Shiny Doshi, Kanwar Dhillon, and Alice Kaushik, later introduced a generational leap featuring Priyanshi Yadav and Rohit Chandel. Despite a recent six-year jump and new cast additions, Pandya Store will conclude its journey after five years.
Rohit Chandel, known for his roles as Baji Rao in Kashibai Bajirao Ballal and Dhawal Makwana in Pandya Store, shared his thoughts in an exclusive chat with India Forums following the announcement.
Addressing rumors about low TRP ratings, Rohit expressed his confusion: “Generally and honestly, I don’t know the reason because we were doing really great and holding the number five spot. When we found out, I seriously didn’t know what went wrong because I have the best hard-working team of my life, and they are still doing the hard work.”
Rohit expressed his disappointment, highlighting that Star Plus did not allow enough time to assess the TRP results post-leap: “Yeah, I’m upset because it’s unfair of Star Plus, just because they didn’t give us enough time to see the leap’s TRP results.”
The news of the show ending was a shock, especially after the recent generational leap. Rohit shared his initial reaction: “It was actually shocking because nobody expected that. Recently, Imlie went off-air, and we thought after the leap, at least we would hold the show for the next five to six months. But I’m feeling bad for the viewers of Pandya Store because, as an actor, I might get some different show within a month.”
He also mentioned their cancelled plans for an outdoor shoot in Kashmir, which turned out to be a fortunate decision: “We were also planning to go to Kashmir but later cancelled, which turned out to be a good decision.”
Rohit criticized the abrupt decision from the production house and the makers, emphasizing the effort and costs involved: “After the leap, it was a sudden decision from the production house and the makers. It involved a lot of hard work and expenses because we were shooting outdoors. We were also planning to go to Kashmir but later cancelled, which turned out to be a good decision. If they had informed us earlier, we would not have taken the leap, and a lot of expenses could have been avoided.”
Rohit revealed that the last day of shooting is May 23. Looking ahead, he mentioned having creative plans and being selective about future projects: “Yeah, obviously, I have some creative plans, and I’m very selective about upcoming projects. Whichever project is the best in terms of creativity and aesthetics comes my way, I’ll choose that.”
As Pandya Store prepares to wrap up, fans and cast members alike reflect on the show’s impactful run and the sudden, unexpected end to its journey.
