Swaran Ghar featuring Ronit Roy and Sangita Ghosh has already created a lot of buzz with its first promo. Amidst all promotional activities going on for the show, one couldn’t help but notice the similarities between the show and Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini starrer 2003 movie, Baghban.
In a recent interview with ETimes TV, Ronit talked about it and shared that the Baghban’s plot might be a small part of their show, but they are not making another Baghban.
He shared, “The concept of Swaran Ghar is not similar to Baghban. For me, this is a love story between a man and a woman. Because of that love story, there are three kids. Our show is not like the film but it has a few shades. The Baghban plot might be a small part of our show but we are not making or recreating another Baghban. It is a love story between a parent and a parent’s love story with their kids. It is about that, the storyline is not that the parents have grown old or the kids are bad, or the parents have been abandoned by the kids. That is a very small part of the show. It is a very extensive show with a lot of things in it.”
Talking about his return to the small screen after a break of 5 years, Ronit shared, “TV started getting too repetitive and there was no progressiveness. There was a mismatch in the way they were doing programming and my sensibilities as I was evolving as a human being and an actor. I did another stint for a channel two and a half, three years back. I was expecting a lot from that role. Again, it didn’t work out the way I thought it would.”
When asked what made him say yes to Swaran Ghar, Ronit replied, “This time I am very proud to say that I accepted this role on narration over the phone. Then I fought a lot to bring the part to what I had interpreted it as. I am lucky to have a co-star like Sangita (Ghosh), a director, and a team that understands that we need to put in that extra bit. I am extremely happy with this outing of mine on television. It’s a short portrayal but the character has a lot to say in that very short time,” he concluded.
