“What are you saying?” Gaura asked. “This can’t be true?”
“But it is, Gaura behen.” Bhavani replied. “You was there the whole time and as it turns out, you have seen everything. Then how did not you see that I stuffed the note?”
This time, Bhavani caught Gaura off guard.
“You will never be smarter than me!” Gaura said and left.
Gaura immediately made a plan. On the next night, she would quietly enter the Modi mansion and search through Kokila’s belongings. She had to find that note whatever it would take. But first, she decided to try something else.
When morning arrived, she went to the Modis. This time, she was welcomed by Gopi.
“Maasiji, what takes you here that early?” Gopi asked.
“Gopi, I am so happy to see that you are fine. Tell me, is everything with your family alright?”
“Yes. But maaji is worried for Vidya. Tell me, how do you treat her now that she is with you again?”
“Vidya is very fine, don’t worry. But I came here for something else. Please, tell me has Bhavani been here lately?”
“No, maasiji, we haven’t seen her for a long time. But why do you ask me such questions?”
“Well, Gopi, I am worried for you. Bhavani is dangerous and if she tries to harm you, just tell me and I will teach her a lesson.”
“Don’t worry Maasi, we are fine. Thanks for the calming words though.”
And afterwards, Gaura left the mansion. But her conversation with Gopi wasn’t enough. She would return later and try to find that note. She was happy that at least the note wasn’t discovered by anyone yet. But it was only a matter of time.
And so, Gaura hardly waited for the night to arrive. She quietly left her own house and went into the Modis. She entered through one of the open windows like she always did. Then she entered into Kokila’s room. Kokila was in a deep sleep. For Gaura had taken care for that as well. She had put sleeping pills in the Modi family’s food while Gopi was busy talking to her, so she could later return undisturbed.
And next, Gaura began searching. She looked everywhere in the room but did not find anything. For a moment, she got very worried. Thousands of thoughts started to appear in her mind. What if they had already found it and Gopi had lied to her? What if there wasn’t such note at all and Bhavani was only playing games?
Before leaving, Gaura gave one last look at Kokila and then… Then, she saw what she was looking for.
The handwritten note by Bhavani could be seen stretching out from Kokila’s saree. Gaura smiled and her face suddenly brightened. She carefully got closer to Kokila and took the note. She then left back through the opened window.
She was so relieved that her plan had worked out that she decided to share the good news with Bhavani.
When Gaura went to see her, Bhavani was sleeping.
“Bhavaniii, wake up.” She said.
“What is it?” Bhavani asked. “Gaura behen, what do you want in such a time of the night?”
“I have a surprise for you. See, the note that you have left for the Modis. I found it. Here it is.”
And then, Bhavani suddenly forgot about falling asleep again.
“What?|” She said. “How is that possible?”
“I told you that you will never be smarter than me. I am the winner again. You are so unlucky, Bhavani. You tried so many times to expose me but everything failed. What are you going to do now? And be sure that I will punish you for this. Now I am in a good moot because my plan worked but tomorrow. Tomorrow you will face the consequences for almost failing my revenge. Now the Modis have absolutely no evidence that you are telling the truth about me. And you can’t do anything for as long as you are locked in here. This was your last mistake. Tomorrow will be the last morning of your life. Because I will put an end to your existence as soon as the sun rises.”
“No, Gaura behen, please don’t!”
“That’s my final decision. I am sorry, Bhavani, but I warned you not only once, but lots of times. I can’t take the risk to keep you alive any longer. Think about your Dharamji for the last time. You will not see him ever again. Now goodbye. If you have any last wish, you will tell it to me tomorrow.”
And Gaura left Bhavani alone again.
But poor woman was terrified. She didn’t want to die yet, not at such a young age. She desperately wanted to find a way to leave this place and safe her life. She had only a few hours left. She remembered about Gaura’s words, telling her how her death would not be a pleasant experience.
“I will not let her kill me that easily!” She thought. “I will fight for my life, and if I have to take her life in order to keep mine, I will do it! Gaura behen should be ready for tomorrow, because it’s going to be tough this time!”
