Chapter 28 – She’s our …
Ragini is sleeping peacefully in Sanskar’s arms, there’s a beautiful silence spread. As the wind blows, her curls ruffle and a strand of hair falls on her face. She makes a puppy face and sighs, Sanskar who is observing all this silently chuckles making her pout. He slowly slides his finger on her face, pinning the strand behind her ear. She smiles, “Jaan… ”
“Hmm??”
“I don’t mind staying here forever, but before the sun rises we need to go back to our room. Or we will be in great trouble in the morning!”
Ragini makes a puppy face, “But I like to be like this” she slowly opens her eyes and stares at him, “In your arms forever…”
They share an intense eyelock.
“I said leave me!” Ragini and Sanskar get tensed hearing someone yell from downstairs, “It’s enough Swara! How can they do this? How can they take such a harsh decision? Who the hell they think they are?”
“Laksh…” Laksh’s eyes are moist and red, “Bhai… ” Sanskar stares at him worried as he rushes to his elder brother and hugs him emotionally. Sanskar pats his shoulder as they separate, “What happened Lucky?”
Ragini goes towards Swara who’s eyes are welled up, she side hugs her lovingly, “What happened? Both of you please say something!”
Laksh and Swara stare at each other…
“Lavanya!” the person comes downstairs from the entrance and yells. “Jijaji… ” Annapurna is shocked to see the man, her eyes are moist. The man pauses seeing her and is shocked himself, “Annu… ”
He fake smiles at her as Lavanya comes down huffing, she stands in front of him and exhales deeply, “Papa… ”
“Your coming with me right now!”
“But Papa… ” He stares at her and she looks down at the floor her eyes turning moist, “You can’t take her away like that… ” Laksh complains, Swara tries to hold him back. He jerks her hand away, “Who the hell are you and why are you scolding her? See she became upset because of you.”
The others stare at him unbelievably, “Young man, I’m her father and I have full rights to scold her for doing stupid things and hurting herself like that.”
Annapurna and Durgaprasad exchange glances and look at Lavanya lovingly, “But I’m her brother too and I can’t see her upset like that.”
“She has no BROTHER!” he yells back at Laksh, “She just has me, her father. I’m everything to her you get it?” He grabs Lavanya’s hand and drags her away as the others look helplessly, “Jijaji… ” Annapurna calls out with hope as he turns back to her with a painful look, “I just have her left in my family” he joins his hands in a pleading way, “Please let us be how we are, please Annu… ”
Annapurna closes her eyes in pain as a drop of tear rolls down her cheeks, “Maa… ” Adarsh holds her, as they watch Malhotra take away Lavanya with him.
“Why do I feel so restless? Maa, Papa!” Swara tries to hold Laksh, “No Swara, I need answers today. Maa, Papa!”
“Jiji, he has the right to know about her. Tell him jiji, tell our kids what happened that day. Why did you do that to her? To us… ”
“Sujatha, I had no other option that day. He had lost everything that day, I couldn’t say no to him…
Flashback, It’s Barsi of Annapurna’s sister, her mother and her sister’s son. Annapurna is crying inconsolably, sujatha tries to calm her down.
“Shireesh… ”
“No, Please don’t say anything right now. That accident might not be your fault, but Durgaprasad I lost everything.”
“Sir!” Everyone turn towards the officer who comes holding a tiny toddler in his arms, Annapurna rushes to him a huge smile of relief on her face, “She was found crying near a tree in her arms Ma’am, the village people took her and informed instantly.”
Annapurna takes her little daughter and embraces her, “Lavanya… Mera Baccha” she kisses her toddler but suddenly, “And my sister? ”
“We found her dead body Ma’a” he replies with grief, “Seems like she protected her till death. Her condition was worse when she reached the nearby village, she asked them to take the baby and inform us. Unfortunately, when we reached there she was dead. We are sorry… ”
Annapurna loses balance but Sujatha holds her on time, she smiles seeing at the toddler and takes her from Annapurna. “Jiji, atleast we have her now.”
Flashback ends.
“Popsy!”
“Hmm?”
Lavanya frowns, “I was better there only, atleast people over there had time for me!”
“Emotional Blackmail?”
“Yes, Mr Shireesh Malhotra” she states folding her hands on her chest, “You know how much they used to pamper me, not like you always engrossed in those stupid files.”
“Fine, then go back. Go back to the people who took away your family from you, go back to the people who killed your Mom and Nani.”
“Dad… ” Lavanya stares at him shocked as Shireesh closes his eyes in pain, “It was an accident” she keeps her hand on his shoulder, “Right?”
He closes his eyes as his inner conscience stops him from speaking further, “I lied.” Lavanya moves back unbelievably, “It wasn’t an accident, they killed her Lav.” He turns to face her, “That night that accident happened because of them, everything got destroyed just because of those Maheshwari’s. Your Bhai died, your Maa and your Nanimaa, everyone who was our family died that night.”
He holds her, “I just have you left Lav, promise me you would never go back to that house again.” He takes her hand and keeps it on his head, “If you ever break my promise… ”
“Dad… I would never break your promise. Lavanya Malhotra, your daughter would never go back to that house again Dad.” She smiles at him and he hugs her happily, a tear trips down her cheek.
“You mean… ”
“Yes Bhai! Lavanya is my twin sister! Our little sister Sanskar!”
Sanskar brushes his hair with a huge smile on his face which doesn’t last longer, “But then Why did they keep her away from us? What happened to them?”
Laksh’s fists clench in anger, “What else can happen Bhai” he says sarcastically, “Mr. Durgaprasad Maheshwari Happened!”
Flashback continue…
Sujatha smiles at little Lavanya, “Babu must be hungry na, come my princess let me feed you something… ”
“Stop sujatha!” Sujatha and the others stare at him, “She’s not our Lavanya anymore” Sujatha and Annapurna stare at him confused, “Bhaisaa… ” Ram tries to say something.
“Yes Ram, she’s not our Lavanya. Inspector thank you, you can leave now.” The inspector leaves from there, “What are you saying ji?”
“Annu… our Lavanya died that night. This child is not ours, she’s your sisters from the moment she saved her she became Lavanya Malhotra!”
Shireesh stares back at Durgaprasad confused as he takes the toddler from Sujatha who tries to hold her back, “Bhaisaa please… ”
“Sujatha” he takes the baby from her and walks towards Shireesh, “She’s your family from now Shireesh, don’t say no. Because Latika gave her a new life and you deserve to be a part of it my brother. From today Lavanya Malhotra is your family… ”
Flashback ends.
Laksh’s eyes are moist and a tear trips down his cheeks. “Bhaisaa, you weren’t the one to decide about her future even we had full rights to interfere, you might be her father but I was the one who fed her played with her and cared for her.” Sujatha cries and leaves from there, Durgaprasad closes his eyes in pain.
“Papa thinks he’s great and has done everything for good of people but no he does everything to show his greatness but from inside he’s devil. I hate him!” Laksh punches the wall and Swara closes her eyes in pain.
“Sanskar… ” Ragini caresses Sanskar’s face while he weeps, she makes him sleep on her lap. “Shh… I don’t know what to say but Badepapa at that time might not be right but he wasn’t completely wrong either. He just couldn’t see your mausaji like that lost and in sorrow. And because of that accident which he was indirectly reponsible, he thought of letting his own daughter go.” She makes him get up and face her, she holds his face and stares into his eyes, “No father can bare the separation from his child, especially his daughter. It must have been so difficult and almost impossible for him. Imagine you being at his place and something happened like that to my Swara” he stares her with moist eyes, “Would you have been able to give our 3months old daughter to Laksh?”
“Never!” He jerks her hand and gets up, she smiles. “Even with the thought of separating from someone who’s just an imagination your eyes got filled with anger than think how Badepapa might have felt at that time, keeping a huge pain in his heart he has lived up till today. Instead of blaming him you both should do something to bring happiness in his life. ”
Sanskar looks back to her and she nods, he hugs her. “I always felt a connection with her Ragini, just like I feel with Badimaa. ” He separates from her and kisses her forehead, “Your the bestest, thanks for being in my life and making it so easy through every complications.”
“Hmm, now you’ve started thanking me for everything patidev it’s not so easy to payback with just a small word for all those advices and help that I’ve done to you.”
“Okay, you say what you want!”
“Not now, for now go and make your brother understand the situation. This time two brothers have to solve the problem together for their family.” She hugs him and he kisses her hair.
It’s morning Lavanya enters the Maheshwari mansion’s gate and walks towards the big entrance she’s about to enter it, “Promise me Lav… you would never go back to that house again.” Lavanya closes her eyes in pain but hits her head lightly, “No Lav, you haven’t broken the promise you haven’t entered the house yet!”
“Lavanya beti”
“Kaka!” she chirps, “Please do me a favor please please please”
He smiles and nods, “Here, give this album to Uttara and Thank you!”
She turns to leave, “Beta, you won’t go inside?”
She smiles, “No uncle, I can’t… ”
“So mission Lavanya is on!” Sanskar forwards his hand, Ragini Swara and Uttara comply by keeping their hand on his but Laksh doesn’t seem to budge, “Can’t we just go and drag her back home with us?”
Swara hits his shoulder, “Can’t you just keep your brain off for some time and let this plan complete peacefully?”
He makes a face, “What planning is going on here?”
“Adarsh Bhai… ”
“Uttara please you all don’t behave as kids now, Papa has taken a decision for everyones betterment please don’t do anything that will hurt him again.”
“That’s why he kept your name Adarsh I guess. All yes papa no papa, till when bhai?” Laksh asks frustrated.
“Lucky!”
“No Sanskar, till when will he be all Mr. goodie shoes, papa’s pet! Don’t you get it bhai, she’s my sister!”
“You don’t get it Laksh, she’s my sister too. I have held her, got to play with her, care for her even before you knew what a sister brother’s relationship means. I know how painful it was for everyone to bid goodbye to her but that’s it no one will bring this topic up again. I repeat No one!”
“Adarsh Baba”
Everyone turn towards the old servant, “Lavanya beti had come” everyone’s face lits up.
“Where’s she?” Uttara, Laksh and Sanskar ask in unison, “Woh actually, she gave this and said to give to Uttara beti. I asked her to come in but she said she can’t.”
Adarsh smiles at him taking the album from his hand, “Thank you kaka.”
Uttara grabs it from his hand, “This is for me, so I get to see it first.”
“I’m her twin brother, even before you all I was with her so me first!” Laksh tries pulling it fro her as they fight something falls down, “Hi!”
It’s a voice recorder, “Actually, I thought to call you but then I don’t have your number with me. So sorry uttara, I wanted to tell you everything personally But now that you can hear me, turn the pages slowly as I tell you about everything. Every photo of my life is in your hand, every moment that I’ve lived. Basically since I was 4months old.”
Everyone sit on the bed in a circle and start watching the album, from Lavanya’s first Birthday, her first day of school, when she got first prize in a school race every event has a photo of her’s with her dad, with her paternal cousins and Harsh.
“You still don’t want us to do anything bhai? Look at yourself, don’t you wish to be with your little sister?”
Adarsh wipes his tears, “And what about Mausaji Laksh? You and me have maa, papa, chacha chachi everyone for us but he has just Lavanya for him.”
He removes his wallet from his pocket and slowly removes a photo from it, a smile appears on his face, “When that day Papa gave Lavanya to Mausaji I hated him. I always wanted a cute little sister just for me and when Lavanya came into my life, although I was small I knew how wonderful it felt to hold her little fingers and play with her. That happiness didn’t last longer but then as I grew I understood how great our Papa is and I’m proud of his decision Laksh. To give someone our own child not even being at fault is pure greatness. He missed her so much, I’ve seen him cry when he saw Uttara growing up infront of him, he missed her brother. But he never let that thing bother our sister, and even mausaji took so much care of her, ask Sanskar if I’m wrong.”
Sanskar nods, “So do you still want to do stupid plans and destroy everything? Or let her and everyone live peacefully?”
He leaves from there and they all start thinking.
Sanskar is standing on the balcony watching the moon, Ragini comes and hugs him from behind. “When you have such a beautiful personal moon, why are you staring at that one?”
“Probably, bored of seeing my personal moon daily so thought to have a change!” he smirks as Ragini frowns and pushes him. He acts like falling down and she holds him, “Planning on murdering your husband Mrs. Sanskar Maheshwari?”
She pulls him closer and stares into his eyes, “Why to go jail for murdering idiots like you, Patidev.” She blinks her eyes cutely and he brushes his hair, “Aww, My baby’s so cute!”
“Uhmm…!” Ragini and Sanskar stare at his phone kept in his pocket, “I don’t have any problem with your Romance but a sister wants a cute goodnight wish first then you guys can continue… ” Lavanya giggles from the other side, “Good night Lav… ”
“And what about I love you? Not fair haan! Sister comes first right Bhabhi?”
“Obviously!” Lavanya coughs and Sanskar gets concerned, “Are you fine?”
“Yes, Mr . Maheshwari don’t worry just a little cold maybe. You go continue your Romance, Good night Mr. Idiot!” she cuts the call.
Sanskar stares back at Ragini who smiles, “Don’t worry so much patidev!”
She hugs him, “Your decision is correct Lavanya will be happy there… ”
“I hope so… ”
