Actor Waseem Mushtaq who is known for his role as Lalit Kashyap in the show Sasural Simar Ka (SSK) 2 has quit the show for a pivotal role in Spy Bahu. The actor has already commenced the shoot for his new show where he will be essaying the role of a cop.
Waseem talked about it in a recent interview with BT and shared, “Yes, it’s true that I have quit SSK2. I shot my last episode a couple of days ago. The major issue was that my character lost its relevance in the storyline and there was no scope for me to perform. I didn’t want to sit in a corner and do nothing on the show. The makers had finalized a big star cast, as the show was originally made for an hour, which was reduced to half an hour. It was getting difficult for them to manage every actor. I had a discussion with the makers. Though they wanted me to stay back, I had to move on to do something better. As an actor, I have to be a bit selfish. Fortunately, I was offered Spy Bahu around that time and I have been wanting to play a character like this for a long time. It’s an important character and the graph is better.”
Waseem will be essaying a character with a grey shade in Spy Bahu. When asked if he is certain about the track in the new show living up to his expectations, he replied, “In my 11-year experience, I have understood that we can’t predict the fate of a TV show. It starts on a certain note, but the storyline changes in two weeks on the basis of the ratings, which at the end of the day mean everything. But as an actor, I am particular about the character I am playing. If I feel that I am getting to do something different, I go for it. That’s what I have always done. I liked the graph of this character and hence, I took it up. I am not bothered about the ratings. I am more concerned about what I am doing on a show.”
