“Tejo ji?” Amrik’s voice called out from behind me as I wept. “Tejo ji kya hua?”
His footsteps hurried towards me as he knelt down to my level, concern written all over his face. His hands reached for my face as he wiped my tears away, slowly wrapping his arms around me.
“Amrik.” I whispered, “Fateh.”
“Fateh?” His voice low as he moved away his arms clenching his fist “What did he do? Where is he?”
No.
He couldn’t see this. No matter what Fateh was his brother, I couldn’t let his reputation fall in front of Amrik.
Fateh is with Jasmine.” I said, wiping my tears away, with my good hand.
Amrik’s jaw tightened as he glared toward the edge of the land, where I had seen my sister and husband.
“I can’t believe him.” He muttered, standing up. “How dare he?”
My hand shit up and grabbed his, pulling him back down and he looked at me in confusion. “Tejo Ji?”
“Fateh and Jasmine,” I forced a smile onto my face pushing down all my pain, “They’re planning my suprise. Mujhe yaad nahi thi meri birthday next week hai. They were talking about that so I got a bit emotional.”
He raised a brow, clearly not believing me. “Tejo ji, I may not have liked you but I know you and I know that you’re lying to me.”
“Amrik, I’m telling you the truth. I ruined the suprise for myself so I got upset but it’s nothing so we should leave.”
“But Te-”
“Amrik please.”
He shook his head but stood up, holding his hand out for me to take. Giving one last glance at the edge we walked towards the car.
