Aapka Apna Zakir, hosted by the beloved comedian Zakir Khan, continues to capture the audience’s hearts with its engaging conversations and special guests. In the latest episode aired on August 25, the show welcomed renowned musicians Neeti Mohan, Jubin Nautiyal, and Shekhar Ravjiani. During the episode, Shekhar Ravjiani shared an inspiring story of how a rejection on a reality show years ago ultimately paved the way for his success.
During their chat, Zakir Khan recalled watching Shekhar Ravjiani compete as a contestant on a reality show many years ago. Despite delivering a stellar performance and receiving high scores, Shekhar missed advancing to the next round by a mere 5 points. To Zakir’s surprise, years later, Shekhar returned to the same show—but this time as a judge. Curious about this incredible turnaround, Zakir asked Shekhar to share his thoughts.
Reflecting on the experience, Shekhar Ravjiani said, “Haarna bahut zaruri tha zindagi mein kyuki vo haar mere liye jeet ban gayi.” (Losing was very important in life because that loss turned into a victory for me.) He reminisced about that moment, recalling how his then-fiancée, now his wife, Chhaya, was in the audience when the results were announced. Despite the disappointment, Shekhar assured Chhaya that he was okay and confidently declared, “If I come back to this show, I’ll return as a judge.”
Shekhar further explained, “Ye ahankaar nahi tha, ego nahi tha, ye sirf apne aapko aur strong karne ki ek koshish thi aur ye haar mere liye bahut zaruri thi. Ye agar jeet jata na toh mera dimaag kharab ho jata toh ye mai haara acha hua kyuki uske baad mehnat kari or aap logon ne jeeta diya.” (It wasn’t arrogance or ego; it was simply an effort to strengthen myself. This loss was very important for me. If I had won, I might have lost my mind. So, it’s good that I lost because after that, I worked hard, and you all helped me win.)
The episode also featured a heartwarming exchange between Zakir and Shekhar as they reminisced about their shared love for Ghazals and their earlier work together. Zakir mentioned his days working in radio when Shekhar was involved in a Ghazal show. Zakir fondly remembered writing a promo for the show and praised Shekhar’s exceptional talent in singing Ghazals.
The episode beautifully highlighted Shekhar Ravjiani’s journey from facing a setback to achieving success, reminding viewers that sometimes, a loss can be the stepping stone to greater victories.
