In a candid interview with News18 Showsha, Shilpa disclosed that she was s*xually assaulted by a Hindi filmmaker during her initial years of struggle in the late 1990s.
Recalling the harrowing experience, Shilpa shared that the incident took place during an audition for a film. “I was quite innocent back then and agreed to the scene without fully understanding the situation,” she said. As the audition progressed, she realized the producer was crossing professional boundaries. Despite the discomfort, Shilpa acted quickly, pushing the filmmaker away and fleeing the scene.
During the interview, Shilpa recounted the filmmaker’s disturbing demands. “I cannot name him, but they asked me to wear specific clothes and perform a scene where I had to seduce my boss,” she revealed. Shilpa resisted when the producer attempted to force himself on her. “I was terrified, but I managed to get out of there.”
While she chose not to expose the name of the filmmaker, Shilpa explained her reasoning, stating that the man is still active in the industry. She added that revealing his identity would affect his family, especially his children, who are close in age to her. “I’m not lying, but I can’t say his name because his children would also have to suffer,” she said.
Shilpa also revealed a strange twist to her story. Years after the incident, she crossed paths with the same producer, who failed to recognize her. Surprisingly, he even offered her a film role, speaking kindly as though nothing had ever happened. Shilpa turned down the offer and reflected on how easily some predators forget their victims.
The actress, known for her roles in popular TV shows like Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai and Sanjeevani, highlighted that incidents like these are unfortunately common in the entertainment industry. She stressed the importance of standing firm against such demands, urging others to be vigilant and refuse to compromise their dignity for career advancement.
