Sid Makkar, who is known for his performance in movies like The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Turning 30 and TV shows like Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, is all set to enter the medical drama Dhadkan Zindaggi Ki.
In a recent interview with BT, Sid talked about his experiment with different mediums and share, “I am at a point in my life and career, where I love to act and acting is more important than the medium. Dhadkan had a good script and I liked the message it is trying to convey to audiences,” he says.
Talking about his role in Dhadkan, Sid says, “I play a visionary entrepreneur. My character portrays that it is important to be self-made and a feminist, who believes in women empowerment. I identify with the character. I have always believed that women should have a voice of their own and it comes from my upbringing. My mother is a strong personality and I have learned a lot from her.”
When asked if he feels any difference in working on television, films, and international films and he says, “It is easier to act in an international project but extremely tough to land a good role. They are well-organized and come with a lot of preparation. My role in The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel was one of a lifetime and am grateful to Seher Latif for that opportunity. In an international project, you are competing with actors from all over the world. Nowadays, OTT has taken over and actors like us love to work in content-rich shows. There are many good web shows which are giving actors their due after a long time. The interesting part in a web show is I could land a lead role in one and a supporting role in another… you are not typecast in one category.”
He concludes by saying, “When we shoot for shows we have to shoot maximum scenes in a day and you need to give your best. TV has the biggest reach in India, so there is no denying the power of the small screen,”.
