“What do you mean?!!” He demanded, slamming his hands on his office table, breaking it in half. The pack doctor paled as he saw his Alpha throwing book shelves, vases and lamps. Anything that came in his line of sight, met the same fate.
In a fit of rage, he vigorously punched the wall and ended up making a large dent in it. He pulled back his fist and punched it again and again and…..again.
“L-luna is a h-human Alpha. I c-can’t say anything when will she wake up. Y-your wolf marked her and you a-are an alpha. So I can’t say anything.” The pack doctor stuttered pathetically.
Sanskar snarled but stopped as his sensitive ears perked up at a loud thud coming from upstairs. He quickly sprinted up, leaving a stunned doctor behind and hastily opened his bedroom door, meanwhile, shifting in his wolf form in the process.
He jumped onto the bed where his quivering mate was, and towered over her protectively. His eyes roamed warily across the room, scanning it top to bottom with his sharp predatory gaze, trying to find any cause of danger but found none. Sighing in relief, he looked down at his mate, and soon found her cowering away from him. He whined, and pulled his ears back to show he didn’t mean any harm.
Groggily opening her eyes, and cutely rubbing them with her fist to get rid of the sleep, she tentatively tilt her head sideways, confused at the unfamiliar surrounding.
“Where am I?” Panicking, she try to get out of the large but comfortable king size bed. Her head throb painfully at the action, causing her to lose her footing and she fell down with a thud.
Wincing, she tried to scramble off the white marbled floor and meekly settle down on the bed, completely exhausted, when all of a sudden the bedroom door abruptly shoots open, startling her, causing her to jump on her place afraid.
She has never seen a wolf like this in her life ever.
With his midnight black fur, the beast was enormous. His dark charcoal eyes looked a bit familiar to her, but in a hazy state of mind she couldn’t exactly pinpoint where has she seen such intense orbs before.
The black wolf ran towards her and she closed her eyes, afraid.
A few seconds passed, and she felt warm air on her face and then something wet touched her left cheek. Opening her eyes in shock, she came face to face with those beautiful swirls of black.
Did this wolf just lick me?!!!!!
The giant beast then further licked her right cheek, causing a small smile to tuck on her lips at the tickling sensation.
It suddenly stopped and looked in her eyes intensely. His eyes were so deep that she found herself drowning in them. She shocked even herself, when she had this sudden urge to touch the wolf.
Hesitantly, she reached out her hand to pet him. Ever so slowly, she put her palm on his head and gently stroked his fur. An electrifying passed through her, causing goosebumps to appear on her body.
The wolf purred and licked her palm, his eyes sparkling with happiness and playfulness.
Minutes passed away in a comfortable silence but then like a switch turned on in her mind and all the memories of the previous night came rushing back to her.
The dinner, rain, the mysterious man, the howling, a bite on her neck and then blank. Nothing.
Backing away from him, she hugs her knees to her chest tightly and rest her forehead on the top of her knees, the reality of the events crashing down hard on her fragile mind. Tears streamed down her face as her anxiety started kicking in.
Sanskar’s eyes widened and he immediately shifted back in his human form, needing to calm his mate down.
But it only made it worse as she stare stunned at the man across her.
“This can’t be happening. This can’t be happening. This can the happening.” She whisper again and again in her mind, trying not to sob as she shake her head in denial. “This isn’t real. Please someone tell me it’s not real. Please don’t let this be real. No, this can’t be real. Please…..” Her subconscious mulled over the lines repeatedly like a broken record time and again.
“Mate?” A voice asks and she snaps her head to look at the mysterious man from last night kneeling in front of her. “What’s wrong sweetheart? Are you hurt?”
“No.” She tried to whisper but only a puff of breath came out of her chapped lips.
She shook her head once again and continue to back away from him as he make an another futile attempt to reach out to his anxious mate who was on the verge of a mental breakdown at the moment.
He stand there helplessly, watching his mate completely breakdown in front of him and can’t do anything to help her.
Taking slow steps towards her, he gently call out to her, while she watch him carefully but not looking directly in the eye, just watching his feet.
“Come here to me, babymate.” He coo softly. “Come here to me?”
All she does is shake her head in no. Almost to her now, he once again try to calm her down but all she does is look up at him in fear as he kneel down in front of her.
“I’m going to pick you up and then I’ll call the doctor. Is that okay?”
Slowly, he reach his arm out and wrap it around her small waist, causing her to flinch. She tries to get out of his arms but he just hold her tighter.
“Don’t hurt her.” His wolf growls in his mind.
“I’m trying not to.” He growls back looking at the now unconscious girl in his arms.
