Sparsh Singh Kotwal on being a part of ‘Kumkum Bhagya’; Grateful for Ekta Kapoor’s showbiz break

Actor Sparsh Singh Kotwal is experiencing the thrill of a lifetime as he takes on the role of Abhay Tandon in the long-running show ‘Kumkum Bhagya.’ Leaving behind his engineering career to pursue acting, he feels truly blessed for the opportunities that have come his way in the world of showbiz.

Ecstatic to be a part of one of television’s longest-running shows, Sparsh is especially thrilled to work on a show produced by the renowned Ekta Kapoor. Expressing his excitement in a recent interview, he shared, “It’s a dream come true to be part of Ekta ma’am’s production. I always aspired to work on her shows. Additionally, portraying the character of Abhay Tandon is incredibly rewarding, as the audience can easily connect with him. Playing the responsible brother to Abhishek Malik’s character, Akshay, allows me to showcase the essence of familial bonds. Off-screen, we share an amazing camaraderie and are like a big family.”

For Sparsh, becoming an actor has been a childhood dream, leading him to make the courageous decision of leaving his engineering job to follow his passion. Reflecting on his journey, he says, “Being from Jammu, pursuing acting seemed like an impossible feat. I studied engineering and took up a job, but deep down, I was always drawn to acting. Finally, I listened to my heart and quit my job to pursue my dreams in Mumbai. The arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic posed challenges, and I faced struggles while striving to make a mark in the dream city. Despite losing my savings, I never lost faith, and my perseverance paid off when acting offers started coming my way. It may be termed a struggle, but it is the path one must tread to find a place in the city of dreams.”

Looking forward to his acting endeavors, Sparsh is determined to take on strong and emotionally impactful roles. He aims to evoke love, relatability, or even dislike from his audience, yearning to entertain them and win a special place in their hearts.

Sparsh’s notable work includes appearances in shows like ‘Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin,’ ‘Maddam Sir,’ and ‘Jai Hanuman – Sankat Mochan Naam Tiharo.’ ‘Kumkum Bhagya,’ starring Mugdha Chaphekar and Krishna Kaul in lead roles, has added another talented gem to its ensemble with Sparsh’s portrayal of Abhay Tandon.
