Sumbul Touqeer Talks about her Nostalgic Garba Moments: From Tree Branches to Dandiya Sticks
Actress Sumbul Touqeer, known for her roles on screen, recently reminisced about her childhood memories of playing garba in Mumbai with her Gujarati friends. Recalling those days during an interview, she shared, “I played a lot of garba in my childhood. We didn’t even have real dandiya sticks, so we came up with a crazy jugaad – my friends used to climb trees and prune the branches. We used these branches as our makeshift dandiya sticks and played garba. I simply loved dancing to the amazing garba tracks.”
Sumbul’s festive fashion choices emphasize comfort over style. Her favorite festive lookbook includes flared shararas, lightweight lehengas in pastel shades for daytime outings, and elegant saris. Jhumkas are a staple accessory, and she prefers simple makeup, minimal jewelry, and no-fuss hairstyles to complement her festive attire.
Addressing the indulgences of the festive season, Sumbul expressed her love for festive food and doesn’t shy away from enjoying the culinary delights. She stated, “During festivals, I don’t get bothered or feel guilty about gaining a few extra kilos. Most of us prepare delicious food at home during festivals, and there’s so much to choose from, it’s just not possible to resist that kind of temptation!” Sumbul, a self-proclaimed foodie, happily indulges in festive treats like sewaiya during Eid, gujiya during Holi, jalebi during Dusshera, and anticipates Diwali with the joy of savoring soan papdi.
While festivities hold a special place in her heart, Sumbul finds joy in celebrating with loved ones, with food being a significant reason why she looks forward to festivals.
