Part 39:
Downstairs after Karan got himself his water he came to see Meghna and Kunal with the babies.
He watched from a distance as the couple were playing with the children.
Karan: Why aren’t you sleeping yet?
Kunal: We could ask you the same.
Karan: Had to get some water.
Meghna: The twins were wide awake so we’re tiring them out here.
Karan: I see.
Karan was waking a way when Kaira started crawling and ended up a Karans feet. Karan stopped walking and didn’t know what to do. Kaira was holding up her arms.
Karan looked at Meghna: What does it want?
Kunal: IT is a SHE , Kaira and he is Maahir.
Kuanl said holding up Maahir.
Karan: What does she want?
Meghna: She wants you to pick her up.
Karan: I can’t.
Naina walked down the stairs.
Naina: She’ll cry if you don’t.
Meghna and Kunal remained sitting down waiting for Karan to do or say something.
Naina: Do you want her to cry?
Karan looked at Kaira and then slowly picked her up.
Sh was laughing as he picked her up.
He was holding her by the armpits and at a distance( I hope you can imagine that!)
Meghna: She’s a baby Karan, not a bomb.
Karan held her closer and Naina came and took Kaira.
Naina: Like this.
Naina showed him how to hold her correctly.
Karan: Whatever.
He walked up to his room again.
Naina came to a it with Meghna and Kunal.
Kunal: That was good Naina.
Naina: I know.
She said smiling.
Meghan had a sleeping Maahir in her arms.
Meghna: Slowly but surely Chiku.
Naina: Haan Di , he just needs to get used to for a while.
Kunal: How will he be around Arjun?
Naina: I’ve got a plan.
She said smiling at a confused Meghnal.
The next morning Karan and Naina were wearing breakfast in their room whole everyone was downstairs eating in silence. The only sound was the twins’ laughter. Kunal was feeding the babies their food whole Meghna served everyone and ate. Kunal and Meghna exchanged looks as they looked at everyone’s sad expressions.
Kunal: Guys , we can’t sit in silence all the time.
Meghna: We need to go back to how things were otherwise how will Karan go back to himself?
Naina came down the stairs.
Naina: You’re right and I have a plan to get some memory back.
Dadaji: How?
Naina: With Arjuns help
Arjun: My help?
Naina: Yeah , will you help?
Arjun: Of course, what do I need to do?
Naina told everyone her plan and they got to their places.
A few hours later Karan was sat in his room and heard the piano playing.
Karan: Who is that?
Karan walked out and then followed the piano. He saw Arjun in the living area playing.
Karan: So, you’re Arjun?
Arjun stopped playing and looked up.
Arjun smiled: Yep, how did you…?
Karan: You’re the other person here in this house for what reason? I don’t know.
Arjun: Who is the first person?
Karan: Naina.
Arjun: She’s your wife… well you know but you don’t know. I guess it’s confusing.
Karan: Very, now tell me why you’re here and why you’re playing the piano now and in here.
Karan said looking around.
Arjun: You taught me to play the piano.
Karan: I did?
Arjun nodded: Yeah and taught me to write my own music.
Arjun explained the whole situation, how his parents passed away and how he ended up living with them.
Karan: Well, that’s something.
Arjun: Do you believe me?
Karan: I don’t see why you’d lie unless Dad put you up to it.
Arjun was confused: Why would he do that?
Karan: The question is why wouldn’t he? He’s capable of ruining lives so he’d want to ruin mine.
Arjun: I don’t think he would ever do that.
Karan: I’ll believe it when I see it.
Karan left and Arjun sat there disappointed that Karan hadn’t remembered anything.
Naina came and held Arjuns shoulder.
Naina: It’s okay Arjun, thank you for your help.
Arjun: Choti Bhabi , I just want him to remember everything. He’s a different person.
Naina: I know Arjun, I know.
Arjun: So what’s next?
Naina: I don’t know, I’ll need to think about it.
Later that day Meghna and Naina were in the living room with Khyati and the twins.
Naina: Di, Khyati what should we do to help Karan regain his memory?
Khyati: Choti Bhabi , why don’t we reenact some of the memories.
Naina: That’s a good idea, what memories though?
Meghna: Maa and Papas anniversary? The performance?
Khyati: Perfect!
Kunal came and sat next to Meghna and had Maahir in his lap.
Kunal: What were you girls discussing?
Meghna: We WOMEN were planning how to get Karans memory back
Kunal: How’s that?
Naina explained the plan to Kuanl.
Kunal: Great! So tomorrow?
Meghna: Let’s wait a few days , remember we need to do it slowly.
Naina: That’s true, during the week we’ll do it.
The next few days went slow, it was the summer holiday so Arjun and Khyati were home. Karan didn’t go to work of course. Meghna and Naina were at work with Kunal.
It was a Wednesday afternoon. NK, Nirmala and Dadaji took the twins to the park, Sandhya was on a trip away from home.
Karan was sat in his room while the rest were downstairs. Kunal Arjun were getting the instruments out while Meghna, Naina and Khyati were moving all the furniture. After putting things in place Naina went to their room.
Naina: Karan , you need to come downstairs.
Karan: Why?
Naina: There’s something you should see.
Karan followed Naina and saw Khyati at the piano, Arjun at the drums and Kunal with a guitar in front of a mic.
Karan: What’s all of this?
Meghna: This should how we spent Maa and Papas anniversary.
Karan: We celebrated their wedding anniversary.
Arjun: Yes we did.
Khyati: Meghna Bhabi had an idea for all of us to perform for them.
Kunal: You guys came into the office every other day to practice.
Naina: You played the guitar.
Arjun: We’ll play for you and maybe you’ll remember something.
The trio started performing when all of a sudden Karan was stumbling and everyone stopped. Naina held onto him and Kunal ran to help him.
Karan was holding his head.
Kunal and Naina sat him down on the sofa. Meghna brought him a glass of water.
Meghna: Karan?
Karan took the galas and drank the water.
Kunal: Are you okay?
Karan: I don’t know, my head is hurting.
Khyati: Maybe you’re remembering something.
Karan: I can’t recall anything. I’m sorry.
Arjun: It’s not your fault.
Kunal: Arjun, let’s take him up.
Kunal and Arjun helped him up to his room.
Khyati: Well, that didn’t work. I’m sorry Naina Bhabi.
Naina: No Khyati, don’t be silly.
Khyati: What do we do next?
They all sat there in silence until Meghna spoke up.
Meghna: I think I have an idea.
Naina: What is it Di?
Meghna: We need to go back to Switzerland.
Khyati: What?
Meghna smiled at the two and explained her idea.
Khyati: You’re actually going to Switzerland?
Naina: Maybe we could bring Switzerland to us here.
Meghna: I think we can do that.
The three of them smiled at one another.
Naina went to her room later that night and saw Karan looking out of the window. She wwaked to him and stood on the other side.
Naina: What are you thinking about?
Karan: Just how a lot has changed.
Naina smiled.
Karan: I don’t know what I want, I feel like I’m all alone. In a world where nothing is as it is. It doesn’t make sense to me.
Naina: Everything will make sense soon Karan , trust me.
Karan looked at Naina.
The wind was blowsy slowly making her look more angelic.
Naina went to the bed and divided to bed into two.
Naina: You have that side and I’ll have this side.
Karan didn’t respond and just made his way to the bed.
Karan: Okay.
Naina: I’ll close the window.
Naina walked to the window and tried closing it but she couldn’t, Karan saw her struggle. He walked behind her and closed it. Naina turned around and they were only inches apart. Karan looked down at Naina and then realised how close they were and moved away. Only to be stopped by something. Nainas Mangalsutra had caught onto Karans sweater(QueueWeddingVowsBackgroundMusic).
Karan tried untangling it but wasn’t able to do so, Naina slowly drew her hands up and untangled it, as Naina did that Karan removed himself out of the way and went to sleep.
Meghna and Kunal were in their room putting the babies to sleep, after the feel asleep they places them into they’re cots. Meghna stood there looking at them with Kunal hugging her from he back.
Kunal: They look so peaceful.
Meghna smiled: They do.
Kunal: Are you okay Meghna?
Meghna turned around and wrapped her arms around Kunals neck.
Meghna: Just thinking about Karan and Naina.
Kunal: Things will go back to the way it was soon.
Meghna: I hope it’s soon.
Kunal: Meghna, Naina will do what she said and I’m sure it’ll work.
Meghna: She’s smart.
Kunal: Exactly, just have faith.
Meghna smiled and hugged Kunal.
Meghna: I love you Kunal.
Kunal: I love you more Meghna.
They both went to sleep.
