Recap: Sanskar disapproves Swara for the job of Governess
Chapter 4
There was nothing but only water and more water everywhere. Most of the roads were drowned and empty. Its only 7 in the evening but looking like whole city is gone into deep slumber. If it was like other normal day, the roads would have full of traffic. You see nothing but people, people and people everywhere. But today the picture was different. It was still raining and inside a car two souls were sitting looking away from each other, busy in their own thoughts unaware of the fact that soon they have to walk together on the same path.
Swara and Sanskar were sitting in the car silently for the last 15 minutes. None of them spoke a word. In last 15 minutes, Swara had done nothing except for looking at her watch almost after every single minute. She wanted to end up this journey as soon as possible. Sanskar was noticing her. And to kill the awkward silence between them he decided to speak up.
Sanskar: (still looking outside the window) Miss Bose time is not going to run fast if you keep on looking at your watch every now and then.
His voice made her startled first but as she realized what he said, the irritation and anger made its place on her face again. She wanted to reply the way he said it but she decided to keep quite as she didn’t wanted to be rude to him after all he was Sanjeet’s client. She looked at him for few seconds and then turned to other side, he was still looking outside the window. Sanskar noticed that his words made her more uncomfortable. He spoke again.
Sanskar: So Miss Bose… as you have completed your graduation what are you planning next? To take up a job in corporate sector or something else!
Swara: (in cold voice) well I haven’t decided yet but am confident that I will get a good one because I know that there are people in the world who will not judge others by their looks but by their work and sincerity.
Sanskar understood her sarcasm and a small smile appeared on his face.
Sanskar: well then good luck Miss Bose.
Swara: thank you.
Swara took a deep sigh of relief when she noticed that she was almost at her destination. She asked driver to stop the car. She was about to move out of the car but then she turned and looked at him.
Swara: (softly) Thank you Mr. Maheshwari for dropping me home. Good night.
Sanskar: (smiled) good night Miss Bose. Do you have umbrella with you, it’s still raining?
Swara was little shocked by his words as she didn’t expect him to show concern for her. She nodded in yes and left from there. As she moved few steps away from the car she saw a familiar person standing there wearing a raincoat and holding an umbrella. Swara moved closer to him.
Swara: (worried) Ashu! What are you doing here?
Ashwin: came here to give this. U forgot that you are allergic to rain water.
He handed a rain coat to her. She looked at him with lots of love and hugged him tightly. She whispered “look like someone is grown up ha”. She pulled back and they smiled at each other. He helped her to wear that rain coat and they moved towards home unaware about the fact that someone was staring at them. Sanskar was silently noticing everything as he decided to stay until she reaches to her house which was few blocks away from there. Looking at the boy he immediately understood that he is her brother about whom Mr. Das had mentioned. He smiled looking at their bond. As soon as he saw them stepping inside a house, he signaled the driver to move.

Sanjeet’s house
After finishing all his work he came to his bedroom and asked Kamla to bring their dinner in the room itself. Bushra looked at him with irritated face.
Sanjeet: Bushra, I know you are cursing me but stop that because that’s not going to help you.
Bushra: (frustrated) when you know am not liking it why are you doing this?
Sanjeet: (smiled) who is bothered about your liking or disliking? I am just concerned about your health that’s it.
Bushra: (innocently) how can you be so cruel to me?
Sanjeet: (in warning tone) don’t try to trap me in your talks.
She knew it was almost impossible to win from him. So she gave up and started to have her dinner.
Bushra: (worriedly) if you are here, who dropped swara?
Sanjeet: don’t worry, I asked Sanskar to drop her. His hotel is on the same route.
They had their dinner. He gave him her medicine which she had reluctantly.

Swara’s house
Swara was sitting at the dining table with Sharmishtha and Ashu. They were having their dinner while talking. Sharmishtha was curious to know about what happened at Sanjeet’s place where as Swara doesn’t wanted to talk about it.
Sharmishtha: Shona so what happened? Sanjeet talked about the job? What type of job it is. Is it safe to do that job?
Swara: ma! Hold on…. Yeah uncle talked about the job and it was a job of a Governess. But things didn’t go well so I said no to him. (She didn’t wanted want to tell her that the employer himself rejected her even before trying her)
Sharmishtha: (astound)What! A governess? You have studied so hard to be a governess. Its good you said no to this.
Swara: Ma, there is nothing wrong to be a governess. In fact I think this is one of the most difficult jobs. But my reasons for denying were different.
Ashwin who was having her food silently interrupted in between them “Di, what do you think? You are going to be a CEO of a company?” he said this with a chuckle.
Swara gave a deadly look to him where as Sharmishtha shook her head in disbelieve. After diner they moved to their respective rooms. Swara helped his brother in his homework before going to bed.
In her room, she was trying to sleep but couldn’t. The incidences of the day were flashing in her mind. She was thinking about her experience with “THE SANSKAR MAHESHWARI”. She never faced rejection before in her life and he not only rejected her but insulted her in a way. She wasn’t angry on him because his rejection but the thing is that the reason he gave for the rejection. She failed to understand that how can one be so judgmental? She closed her eyes and tried to wipe away all the thoughts and dozes off, wishing to have at least one encounter with him where she can prove him wrong.

A man was sitting on the bed working on his laptop when his phone rang and he smiled looking at it. He immediately took the phone to receive the call.
Sanskar: hello my princess… still up (he looked at the clock on the wall, it was 11 pm)
It was “SIYA” his daughter, his life. The most important part of his life, the reason for his living. After his mother she was the only female in his life for whom he can do anything.
Siya: (angrily) dad you didn’t called me today? How can you break the promise? Remember you promised me that you will call me every day when you are out of station.
Sanskar: (smiling) princess… I called you in the evening but you were playing in garden with your friends so I thought not to disturb you. You know I never break my promise.
Siya: but nobody told me that…I thought you forgot.
Sanskar: so tell me how it’s my fault?
Siya: (innocently) sorry dad.
Sanskar: (smiling) no need to say sorry doll… ok tell me you had your food properly or not? And don’t tell me you played prank on my mom again?
Siya: (like an innocent soul) dad! I never play prank on her, I just try to entertain her but she never appreciates my efforts.
Sanskar: (laughing) from where you are getting so smart day by day?
Siya: (proudly) it is my dad’s influence.
Sanskar: (smiling) yeah… why not. Ok sleep now, it’s already late and give phone to mom.
Siya: Ok dad… and you are coming tomorrow na?
Sanskar: yes my princess, I am coming tomorrow. Now go to your room.
Siya: (cheerfully) good night dada.
Sanskar: good night dear.
With a satisfied smile on her face, she kissed the lady standing beside her, passed the phone and ran from there whishing her good night. The lady took the phone and started talking. The lady was Annapurna Maheshwari, Sanskar’s mother and widow of Durga Prasad Maheshwari. A soft spoken, polite and a kind hearted woman she was. She always had been an epitome of perfection, an obedient daughter-in-law, an ideal wife and an ideal mother. She had a great bonding with Sanskar. And he not only loves her but respects her a lot. She was always there for him when he needed her. And he proudly accepts that she taught him how to live life.
Annapurna: (in a soft voice) hello… Sanskar beta, how are you? And how was your meeting?
Sanskar: Mom I am fine and meeting was good. How are you? Taken your medicines or not?
Annapurna: yeah… I have taken, don’t worry.
Sanskar: (raising an eyebrow) don’t try to lie to me, you know I will catch you.
Annapurna: (smiling) I know in your absence you are spying on me… so there is no use of lying.
Sanskar: (laughing) well! Everybody is getting smarter day by day in our family.
Annapurna: (smiling) may be your influence.
Sanskar: (proudly) definitely. Well mom, did Prateek send a guy to the house. I appointed him as a driver for Siya. Now he will be there only for Siya, so she never has to wait for the driver after school.
Annapurna: yeah… he came but Sanskar don’t you think he is too young. I thought you will appoint some experienced man but your choice surprised me.
Sanskar: (confidently) mom, don’t worry… I know him for last three years. He is very sincere and responsible. I am confident about his driving skills, he drove me many times for out of Bhopal meetings. You know I won’t take decisions until I am fully satisfied.
Annapurna: I know my son but I was having doubt so I told you. But if you are confident about him, I am not worried. Sorry for being so judgmental and forget that we shouldn’t judge people on what they look but on what they are capable off.
These words of his mother reminded him of Swara. He was lost in her thoughts when a voice from the other end interrupted him.
Annapurna: Sanskar! Are you listening?
Sanskar: (back to senses) yes mom…. Well Its already late now, I have to make an urgent call you sleep now, good night mom.
Annapurna: good night beta, take care.
He disconnects the call and immediately dialed to someone. He could hear the ringing of bell. Other side person picked his call and said hello.
Sanskar: Mr. Das I am so sorry I troubled you at this time but it was really important.
Sanjeet: (little worried) it’s ok Sanskar… actually I was working, so don’t apologize. Tell me is everything ok?
Sanskar: yeah everything is fine… I just wanted to tell you that I decided to appoint Miss Bose as the governess of my daughter. You please inform her that she can join after a week. I have to come next week for a meeting here, she can come with me then.
Sanjeet: (cheerfully) that’s a really good news Sanskar but how come you changed your decision?
Sanskar: well I thought of your words about her and when you are so confident then I can at least give her a chance… after all we shouldn’t judge people on their looks.
Sanjeet: (gladly) you are right… well I will inform her tomorrow.
Sanskar: thank you Mr. Das and good night.
Sanjeet: good night.
Who knows that his one decision was going to change his life forever….
