Chapter 40
Sanskar’s POV
10th November, one of the most memorable day of my life….. The magical night I have ever experienced. I kissed her, again and she responded so beautifully, I can’t believe it…. The way she responded to my touch I am sure she has something for me, if not love then must be liking. There was no embarrassment or disappointed in her eyes today instead she was shy…. is it a hint for me or what? Well I am disappointed, I should have confessed today but my bad luck I missed it, Prateek I hate you seriously. And can’t she wait for me, why she left before I came back? Hope she understood my unspoken words… being in love is totally different feeling and I am loving it. Swara, you are breath taking…. I need to confess it soon, now it’s difficult for me to stay away from you…. don’t worry dear, I will do it soon, just be ready for it….. How can I forget the perfect day is around the corner? Miss Swara Bose, be prepare to become an inseparable part of my life till then enjoy your sleep because soon you are going to have sleepless night like me…. good night dear.
Swara’s POV
I can’t believe it, we kissed again and this time it was different, I could feel it…. And surprisingly we both were not guilty after the kiss like earlier…. Why his touch melts me away, why his presence affects me, why it displeased me when Ragini talked about his marriage….. Do I? No, no, no…. it can’t be true? “It’s true Swara you love him”….. Oh God! Is it love? Do I really love him? But how it happened, I use to dislike him then how I fell for this man? Perhaps this is all about love-unexpected… but he is my boss and moreover Siya’s father would it be right to love him? Swara, before all this he is a man, a human…. It’s not a sin to love your boss. Does he feel the same for me or not? May be, otherwise why would he kiss me….. But that could be momentary also, might be he got carried away because if he loves me then why didn’t he confessed? What the hell, it’s so complicated…. What should I do now? How will I face him tomorrow, it would be difficult for me to suppress my feelings…. Swara you have landed yourself in a great trouble. You dared to love the most complicated person now be ready to bear the consequences….

Morning, hall, Maheshwari Mansion
It’s been an hour to Sharmishtha’s arrival there. She entered with teary eyes, impatiently searching for her daughter but when she saw Swara, her expressions changed…. Anger and resentment took over worry and concern. Swara tried to hug her but she resisted and asked Annapurna about the guest room, excusing herself from there, she moved to the guest room. Swara looked at her mother with moist eyes, hurt with her ignorance…. She knew her mother was upset, for hiding the truth….
Annapurna: (coming to Swara) it’s ok dear…. Her anger is justified, this shows how much she loves you…. just give her some time, she will be normal.
Swara cried clinging close to Annapurna, Sanskar was feeling guilty for them…. It was his failure, he promised her mother to keep her safe but he failed
Ragini: (smiles looking at Sanskar) don’t worry Sanskar, they will patch up soon… after all she is her mother…
Annapurna: (caressing Swara’s hair) come on Swara, no more tears now….. I am going to prepare breakfast for your mother and you will take it to her ok…. Today you mother and daughter do your breakfast together….
She patted Swara’s cheek before leaving….. Wiping her tears she strode out of the hall, Sanskar followed her till she disappeared from his sight….

Maheshwari Mansion, Guest room
Swara: Ma why are you behaving like this? Please talk to me….
Sharmishtha: (stern voice) why should I? Do I know you?
Swara: (teary eyes) Maaa!!!
Sharmishtha: This is exactly how I felt Shona when I came to know the truth…I think me and Ashu, we don’t exist for you….
Swara: you know very well, this is not true…..my whole world revolves around you and Ashu…
Sharmishtha: (mocking) Really!!! That’s why you didn’t bother to inform us about you….
Swara: it didn’t like that Ma. I knew you will get panicked that’s why I asked everyone not to tell you anything….
Sharmishtha: (teary eyes) Shona, I am your mother…. If I won’t be worried for you then who else would be? You really grown up to take your life’s decisions, now you don’t me…
Swara tried to hold her hand but before that she moved away ignoring her daughter’s tears…. She picked her clothes and walks towards the washroom leaving guilty and disheartened Swara behind….

Night, Swara’s room
She was standing there near window, lost in the darkness of sky…. In spite of all her efforts entire day, Sharmishtha didn’t talk to her, she wasn’t ready to hear anyone…. Swara had never come across this side of her mother and it was extremely painful for her…. she startled by sudden touch on her shoulder, to find out she turned around…. It was Sanskar, standing there trying to figure out her state….
“Swara are you ok?” he asked softly, touching her cheek. She didn’t reply instead looked up to him silently. Unknowingly she became habituated of his presence in her worst time, he like an ardent supporter always comes up to give his shoulder to her. With teary eyes she hugged him tightly, wrapping her arms around his back…. He could feel her tears on his chest. He knew her mother’s behavior troubling her deeply…. But he couldn’t see her like this….. To make her feel protected he also wrapped his arms around her.
Sanskar: (softly) shhh…. It’s ok, don’t cry….
Swara: (sobbing) then what should I do? My mother is not talking to me…
Sanskar: (caressing her hair) you should wait…. She needs some time to come over this shock, after all she is your mother, how long would she resist?
Swara: you don’t know her, she is very stubborn…
Sanskar: (playfully) is this your family legacy or what??
Swara: (hit him on his chest) shut up….
Sanskar: ok fine, no more jokes now… come sit here (holding her hand he made her sit on the bed) Swara, I know aunty is upset and angry and somewhat her anger is justified…. This is because she loves you…. that’s why I asked you to inform her immediately but you didn’t listen…
Swara: I had my own reasons for that….
Sanskar: (stern voice) you can’t justify your lies with lame excuses
Swara: I didn’t lied
Sanskar: hiding truth is equivalent to lying…
Swara: (annoyed) ok fine, it was my fault…. I was at wrong side…
Sanskar: this is your problem Swara, you always think unidirectional…. Just place yourself at your mother’s place, now tell me what would be your reaction….. Well if Siya would do something like this, I would have reacted in same way ….
Swara: your reaction wouldn’t be surprising because I know you are short tempered and hyper but Ma, she never even shouted on anyone…. it’s unbelievable for me
Sanskar: (annoyed) well, thank you so much for your appreciation Swara, I am glad to know….
Swara: (innocently) why you are upset, aren’t you short-tempered? And don’t worry Siya will never do that, she knows her father very well…
Sanskar: (sarcastically) I know and fortunately Siya is not as daring and gutsy as you are….
Swara: (irked) do you come here to trouble me more!!!
Sanskar: I came here out of my concern but it’s you who started all this….
Swara: (angrily) fine, I am insensible and immature…. I always do wrong things…. Happy now!
Sanskar: (to himself) really, I mean is this the girl I am mad for?? Why she always misunderstood me?
Sanskar: (standing up) I am sorry for troubling you, I think you are mature enough to deal with your problems, you don’t need me…. good night
Before she could react he strode out of the room….
Swara: (whispers) I need you….

Morning, guest room
Sanskar: (knocking at door) may I come in aunty?
Sharmishtha: (turning around) oh Sanskar, come…
Like always she welcomed him with a smile but today she was missing the warmth and shine of her eyes…
Sanskar: I hope you are comfortable here….
Sharmishtha: yeah, I am…
Sanskar: how is Ashwin?
Sharmishtha: he is fine although he misses Shona a lot
He was searching for words to initiate the talk… somewhere he believes it’s his responsibility to mend the relationship of mother and daughter
Sanskar: aunty, I am really sorry for not keeping up my promise, I know I promised you for Swara’s safety but failed…. not only for this but I also want to apologize for not informing you earlier about the mishap….
Sharmishtha: honestly speaking Sanskar, initially I was disappointed with you but when I thought about it later I realized we can’t change the fate…. But the thing is being her mother it was my right to know about my daughter’s whereabouts…. She talked me almost every day on phone but didn’t give a single hint about her sufferings…. I never expect this from her, it’s really hurting
Sanskar: I can understand your disappointment but you can’t deny she loves you a lot…
Sharmishtha: (teary eyes) Sanskar, relationships are not only about love, it demands trust and accountability… what if something would have happened to her, how we gonna live…… my children are only treasure I have, after Shekhar they are my responsibility…
Sanskar: she is not irresponsible… you know what in that miserable condition, all she was bothered about was you and Ashwin, she didn’t want you to get panic, just think about her for once… it wasn’t easy for her
Sharmishtha: but then why she chose the difficult path…. Did she know how guilty I am thinking about all this, here my Shona was on dead bed fighting for her life and there I was busy in my routine life oblivious of her misery…
Sanskar: (holding her hand) aunty, bygones is bygones…. Look at the bright side, she is all well and fine now…but she needs her mother now, I have seen her craving for you…
She was silently shedding her tears, the turmoil she was going through abstaining her to embrace her Shona. Sanskar was anxiously waiting for her reply but their conversation halted due to Anand’s arrival…
“Sanskar bhaiya, Mr. Singhania has come to see you” he said
“Ok, I am coming” sanskar replied, then turning to Sharmishtha he said “take care aunty, we will talk later”…

Morning, Swara’s room
It was eight in the morning and unexpectedly Swara was sleeping, the entire night she couldn’t sleep….she wiggled with a touch on her face, forcefully she opened her eyes…
Sharmishtha: (lovingly) Shona wake up beta, you are still sleeping…..
Swara blinked her eyes to confirm whether it’s real or surreal
Sharmishtha: (smiles) what happened? Why are you looking at me like that?
She realized it wasn’t a dream, it was her mother in real…. She quickly sat on the bed and yanked her mother for a tight hug….
Swara: (crying) I am sorry Ma…. Please forgive your Shona…
Sharmishtha: (caressing her hair) it’s ok, I am not upset now…..
Swara: (perplexed) really!!!
Sharmishtha: (smiles) hmmm…… now go and get fresh, you are already late today….
It was a moment of great pleasure for Swara, her mother is finally back to her….
