Television’s New Lord Ram: Auditions Underway for Siddharth Kumar Tewary’s Epic Ramayan
The hunt for the next Lord Ram is in full swing as auditions gather momentum for producer Siddharth Kumar Tewary’s upcoming adaptation of the legendary epic, Ramayan. After the success of Mahabharat, Tewary is set to make history by bringing another of India’s greatest epics to television screens. The auditions mark a significant step in the meticulous process of casting for the modern rendition of Ramayana.
According to a source associated with the production house, “Ramayana holds significant social, cultural, and historical value, and the creator aims to retell it in a manner that resonates with the younger generation. The goal is to instill pride in our culture among the youth and address the evolving family dynamics over the past 25 years since the previous adaptation. There is so much to learn from the epic and implement all the values in our lives. Siddharth is meticulous about both the story he selects to be told and the casting.”
Auditions are currently underway to find actors suitable for the contemporary portrayal of Ramayana. Once the casting is finalized, production is set to commence immediately. The highly anticipated show is expected to grace television screens in January next year.
The previous version of Ramayan, produced by Ramanand Sagar, featured Arun Govil and Dipika Chikhlia as Ram and Sita, respectively. The series, which originally aired from January 1987 to July 1988, experienced a resurgence in popularity during the pandemic through a re-run.
Siddharth Kumar Tewary, known for his earlier adaptation of Mahabharata in 2013, has established a reputation for successfully bringing mythological tales to the modern audience. The cast of his Mahabharata included talented actors like Sourabh Raaj Jain, Pooja Sharma, Shaheer Sheikh, and others.
Currently, Siddharth is at the helm of two ongoing shows – the mythological series Shiv Shakti — Tap Tyaag Tandav, and the family drama Vanshaj. As anticipation builds for the new rendition of Ramayana, viewers can expect another immersive and culturally rich experience from the visionary producer. Stay tuned for updates on the casting and production of this monumental television project!
