I was never really a man of thoughts or planning. I do what comes to my mind at the instant. My mom and dad always tried teaching me to plan and work in its accord. And yet, I never really understood what planning or its purpose was. Why bother yourself, when the way comes to you on your own? Well, that was what I used to think. And that was the way I used to work.
Things may turn good or bad, but I always learnt to tackle the situations… coz, I knew how they would turn up—I was the one who made the decision that it should occur!
Anyways, let’s come to the story. It was purely an instinct that made me go to that singing contest. Well, I really loved singing and I used my bathroom shower as my mike and anyone who passes by my room that time would be my audience! Many a times my mom and dad had advised me to practise and improve myself but you know me, I never did! But that singing contest, for some unknown reason, was pestering me. I decided to give it a go. And, that’s where I met her.
…
“Hello mister. Are you Purab Khanna?” she had a chirpy voice.
“Yes, I am” I was actually flustered. Standing in front of the ladies green room, I was looking here and there, clearly not knowing the way to the guys’ room.
“Well, can you please accompany me?” “What? Why? I never, really meant to peep in. I juz, wasn’t…knowing the way to my room” I babbled.
She laughed. “Oh! Come on Mr. Khanna. I am not handing you over to my Principal. I am just organising things here. Very poor right, I am not that good… but my sister forced me into this. Anyways, I know you are lost. I saw you in the beginning itself. But only now did I finish sending those arts college students to their rooms. So I came to help you as soon as I was done. So now, will you please follow?”
She walked forward, checking boxes in her check-list, telling the decorators to change the colour of the decors, calling someone to finalise the exits… well, she didn’t really pay any attention to me. And I was starting to get bored.
“Bored, aren’t you?” she asked, still not looking at me. I gave her a sheepish grin. “So, tell me about you…” she said, i didn’t feel like she really meaning it, yet I was stunned. But my instincts started working.
“I don’t give information to strangers like you” I said. Oh no! Wrong time to go joking! I immediately regretted saying it.
She gave me a stare and turned back to her notepad. “Well, my mistake” she said and we didn’t speak another word for some ten minutes. Idiot Purab! I scolded myself. “I am Bulbul. Bulbul Arora” she said after sometime.
“Nice meeting you” words automatically slipped out of my mouth. She smiled. “Bye” she said suddenly. “WH-AT?” I gazed around and we were standing in front of my allotted room. She was trying to keep herself from laughing. Am I that transparent? I thought to myself.
I looked at my watch and we had been walking for fifteen minutes!
Was I lost to that extent? “Well, yes Mr. Khanna” she replied, having clearly read my mind… “You were fifteen minutes far from your room” she said suppressing another laugh.
And then she bid me a good bye and walked off. But again my instinct worked and I started shouting at her retreating figure—the commotion was hell, my voice had to reach guys!
“Can we get to first name terms?” I called from behind. She turned, clearly surprised. “Pretty please?” I added. I knew that was the most adorable action of mine that could convince anyone to do anything for me. And even that time it seemed to work. She smiled and I remember, she blushed a bit too—only I didn’t know why, at that time! Well, I actually didn’t know what made me ask her that, then how would I know why she blushed? Common sense!
“I expect something in return” She shouted. “How about a coffee and some talk?” I asked. “Sounds good to me” she smiled openly. “To me too, see you in the evening” and as soon I said these, she vanished in the crowd. So I walked into the room, smiling for no reason!
…
“Hey” she waved me. “Hi” I waved back. We both were standing in front of the cafe nearest to her college. “When do we get the contest results, Ms. Organiser?” “A day or two” “So, it seems I can meet you soon”. She smiled.
We walked into the cafe and soon were sipping our own coffee mugs. She was stirring hers listening my talks. Suddenly I said “You girls are so easily approachable”.
She had suddenly dropped her head to her mug, stirring. Oops! “But I am serious yaar, you agreed just like that!” She stopped stirring too! Oh my goodness. What am I even saying? “How about others…?” Just shut up Purab! What are you doing? GAWD, where is all this leading to?!
She looked at me, clearly bubbled up! My insides were tense and I just didn’t know what to do.
“What do you mean, Mister?” O-Oh!
“Hey-Hey… I am sorry. You know what, I am not that bad as you assume. I… like… it’s just my mouth that gets me into trouble. I am sorry. Trust me, I won’t talk another word” she smiled.
“I got to go. Bye” she got up.
Shit! You are such a nutcase. Control your blo*dy mouth! I continued scolding myself. “Purab” she added and left. And that made me thrilled and i was smiling looking like a goof! So, I, for almost fifteen minutes, sat in the same place—looking as idiotic as possible, with that big grin stretched all across my face. Only my mom’s call brought me to sense.
…
See, all because of my instinct! Well, I saw her again after two days, when they announced results. I knew our team wouldn’t get even a consolation price, but I was too excited for the day. And, it seems that I was not the only one! As days rolled by, we not only in first name terms… we were in nick name terms! That funky attitude she has! My goodness… I thought she was someone who gets seriously offended for small things but only after clearly knowing her did I know that she was extreme opposite, she was very sportive—except when it comes to esteem—and I was the one getting offended seriously for all that jokes she cracks on me!
Well, things moved faster and here I am…
“Khanna” a chirpy voice called. “Yes bully”
“I already put Simi to sleep. I’m gonna take shower. Will then go to sleep… don’t stay up late. Gud night”
Oh! Ok guys. If I get time to meet you, I will continue the rest of the story, some other day. Now my instinct says me to follow my wife! So, bye… See you guys later!
And think, isn’t it right to act according to one’s instincts? Do follow them if you seriously get a nagging one in your mind! Don’t forget to thank it if one such thing had changed your life. And yeah, I do thank mine!
…………………………….
Hi everybody. Told you will be back by 25th. Well, I am a day late! You guys know me! This is how punctual I am!
Anyways, first things first… how are you all? Hope you all are fine. And yes, I am super duper fine. Finally finished my exams! Wrote them well, pray for my good results, guys! Ok, so now back to normal mode!
Coming to the story, well, I am actually sorry if that was silly. Well, this came to my mind out of nowhere and I simply scribbled it out. Purely instinct! Only your comments would tell me whether I was right to post this or not.
Next, so many are gone missing again. Like me! Well, I came back… so others too please come back. KKB is seriously going all crappy and it’s just fan fictions that are bringing it back to life. So, dear writers… come back soon.
And talking of KKB, I learnt that the show is up for an eight year leap! Well, was shocked out of wits! How do people even get such ideas? Anyways, it’s been a long time I had stopped giving it a damn. I never really follow it that dedicatedly, the way I used to do before. I guess if things continue, I would even stop reading written updates! Is there someone like me terribly disappointed because of the show? Tell me guys, would be helpful to recover! I just wanted to know. That’s it.
Ok… let’s not get too much carried away.
