Twinj: It’s Always Been You: Episode 14

A quick recap: Twinkle and her friends’ attempts to convince Kunj continue with his hopes of them getting back together increasing along with his jealousy and curiosity regarding Twinkle’s date. He challenges Aparna that he would prove himself to be the better one. Twinkle and Kunj get locked in their workplace where she almost reveals the facts to him.

“Twinkle!” Aparna’s voice sounded urgent and distressed, making Twinkle and Kunj part quickly and turn to her. “Manohar uncle!” She managed to say among her bated breaths, scaring them. “What happened, Aparna?” Twinkle asked, placing her hands on her shoulders, her mind racing with negative thoughts. “He had to be hospitalised! He complained of breathing issues!” Aparna said, as both of them turned to look at Kunj, who looked devastated. The three of them rushed to the hospital to find Twinkle’s parents already present there. RT tried to explain the circumstances to Kunj, while Twinkle sat down beside Usha, hugging her tight. Usha appeared to be in a daze until then, but Twinkle’s comforting embrace jerked her back to reality. She held onto Twinkle and cried her heart out, with Leela joining Twinkle in consoling her. Just then a doctor walked out and asked to speak to a family member. The rest of them watched anxiously as the doctor exchanged a few words with Kunj at a little distance. Kunj returned with a relieved look, telling them that it was probably just an allergic reaction, nothing serious, and that he would be discharged in a day or two. Usha was the first to go in to see Manohar as soon as Kunj informed them that they could, and the others followed quickly.

“What’s bothering you?” Twinkle asked Kunj as he stood outside the ward and looked at his father through the little opening in the door with teary eyes. Kunj looked at her and shook his head, then turning back to look into the ward. “Was there something else that the doctor told you?” She asked him again, knowing for a fact that he had been hiding something from them. “He said that if he hadn’t been brought here in time it could have been serious!” Kunj whispered, tears rolling down his cheeks. “I wasn’t there for him when he needed me!” He added, as he walked slowly and sat down on one of the waiting chairs in the corridor. Twinkle watched him quietly, blaming herself. She believed that had it not been for her stupid game, he would have reached home well in time, and more importantly, he wouldn’t be feeling so guilty. “I’m sorry!” She said as she sat down beside him, placing her head on his shoulder and wrapping her arms around his hand. Tears flowed down her eyes as her mind criticised her for being selfish. Kunj freed himself and looked at her confusedly. “I know you stayed back to wait for me, had it not been for me..” She explained, but he wouldn’t agree. “It’s not your fault! Evidently, I’m not good enough for him” He said, sighing deeply, adding “and for you. Isn’t that why you’re seeing that other guy?” She looked at him lean back into his chair, staring blankly at the wall, and finally revealed, “I’m not seeing anyone else.” He chuckled at her, and replied, “I figured that out. Only earlier this evening, but I did.” She looked away immediately, trying to hide how embarrassed she was at that, even as she felt relieved that he was smiling again.

“You did what?” Yuvi asked Twinkle for the third time, as he sat with his hands on his head, unable to believe she had actually put their plans down the drain. “Aparna is going to kill you!” Chinki said, as she walked up and down Twinkle’s room while Twinkle looked at them helplessly, fidgeting her fingers nervously. “Manohar uncle just got home!” Aparna announced cheerfully as she entered the room, but with just one look at them she knew someone had messed something up. “Who did what?” She asked, glancing at them suspiciously. “Wow. That guy actually thinks he won the ‘war’ didn’t he?” She exclaimed, air quoting the word ‘war’, when she found out. “What now?” Chinki asked, when she saw Aparna smirk to herself. “Nothing.” Aparna responded quickly, resuming her calm composure. She wouldn’t involve them in her plans and even risk the possibility of them ruining it this time. “Twinkle, I don’t think you should make the first move though. The truth is now open in front of him, and honestly, if he doesn’t take up his chance now, I don’t know if he ever will.” Yuvi said, looking concerned. Twinkle smiled at him, nodding in agreement. She however hadn’t seen him throw an understanding look at Aparna, for he knew she hadn’t given up yet.

Twinkle was shocked when she received her favourite red roses the next day; as far as she knew, there was no more execution of plans going on. A note reading “Your secret admirer” stuck on it caught her completely off-guard. She had still been analysing the bouquet from different angles when Kunj walked over to her desk. “Aren’t you guys done with your silly pranks yet?” He asked her holding up a note in his hand. “What?” She asked, now beginning to get scared. She snatched the note from Kunj and read it, her eyes widening in horror. It warned Kunj to stay away from Twinkle if he wished to lead a peaceful life, else her secret admirer would make it living hell for him. “I don’t know what this is about! I don’t know who this secret admirer is!” She said helplessly, throwing the flowers away angrily. He looked at her quietly for a minute and said, “I sent you those flowers actually to thank you for supporting Ma in the hospital the other day.” She turned to him, giving him a ‘You are impossible!’ look while he quickly apologised. She then bent to pick up the flowers and place them on her table. “Did you also write that note to yourself?” She asked annoyedly as he grinned at her actions. That brought his attention back to the anonymous note. “I don’t know about this though. Neither do you have any idea, then who could be behind this?” He said, staring at the note as though that would make it reveal its sender.

“Do you recognise the handwriting?” Twinkle and Kunj said together as they pondered over the note, coming up with that idea some time later. Both of them took turns analysing it as carefully as they could but couldn’t figure out a single thing. “Hi Twinkle!” Aparna greeted Twinkle as she came in to chat with her like she did frequently. “Have you two patched up?” She asked curiously, looking at them alternatively. They exchanged a quick glance, realising that they had hardly spoken to each other properly since that night in the hospital, let alone discuss their current equation. “Kunj was having some work related queries to make.” Twinkle said simply, and watched him get up and leave at that. She then told Aparna about the note, just in time to receive a series of messages on her phone. “Who is this? What does he want from me?” Twinkle asked Aparna as she slided the phone on her table, however, Kunj picked it up. “What is going on?” He asked as he read through the messages that seemed like love poetry, claiming that the sender would do anything for Twinkle and was hopelessly in love with her. His question was evidently directed at Aparna but she defended herself saying that she was right in front of Twinkle and hadn’t done anything at all. “Can I see that?” Aparna asked, standing up and taking the phone from him. She then entered the number on her own phone and her eyes widened when she realised who it was. “I know who this is! Remember that friend of mine who used to call himself a Shayar?” She said to Twinkle, who looked shocked on that recollection. “What?” Kunj asked, more of annoyed than surprised. Aparna and Twinkle told him about their neighbour in Mumbai who had a crush on Twinkle and would do weird things just to bring a smile on Twinkle’s face, to help her fight her depression, as they watched Kunj listen to them disappointedly.

“Twinkle was never interested in him.” Aparna told Kunj, but that didn’t seem to make him feel any better. “Tell him that!” He said irritated. Twinkle insisted Aparna to speak to him and sort things out, when Kunj added, “Yes, you should!” Aparna turned to Kunj and laughed. “Weren’t you on a war? Why don’t you speak to him yourself?” She asked, but quietened when she saw Twinkle glaring at her. “Fine, I’ll speak to him! I’m leaving for some work now, I’ll call him up on the way.” Aparna said, holding her hands up in defeat, picked up her bag and was about to leave, when Twinkle asked her, “Are you going to see Alisha?” Aparna turned back and nodded, sighing as she said, “I’m sorry Twinkle! I can’t step back even if I want to!” Twinkle shook her head and surprised her by asking how Alisha was doing and if she was responding well to the treatment. “I know how hard it can get. I hope she gets well soon!” Twinkle said with a smile at both of them who were watching stupefied.

“Yuvi! How did you come across this guy?” Aparna asked Yuvi, bursting into her room where she had asked him to wait for her. “What? I thought you were making him do all this!” Yuvi replied, shocking her. She sat down with her face hidden in her hands wondering what they had landed themselves in when she heard Yuvi burst out laughing. “I’m kidding! I am the mastermind of all this!” Yuvi said, making Aparna throw the pillow at her hands’ reach at him, feeling relieved. “The fun has only begun, and everyone’s already scared!” Yuvi exclaimed, smirking at Aparna as he revealed his plans to her, while she admitted that he deserved to be appreciated.

That’s it for now, guys. Lots of love!
