CHAPTER – 44 – Tit for tat

TWINKLE (POV)
“Just wait till dad hears about this” Maira grumbled walking towards the car and I crossed my arms smirking at her. “Hears about what?”
“You put us in jail” she exaggerated and I quirked an eyebrow at her. “Fine. Nearly but still” she crossed her arms too. “You don’t have a proof , dear sister”
“I do” she grinned pointing at Natasha and Mahi and they looked boggled , “Who? Us?” they question with a frown and Maira narrowed her eyes at them , “Yes. You two”
“Nahh” they grinned moving to my side and Maira stomped her foot childishly and I laughed putting an arm around her shoulder and walking towards the car.
After pleading and begging the guard that we just pranked them about the controller thing, they let Maira and Natasha go. But not before Maira got nasty glares from every one of them and I had to drag Natasha not to strangle any of the guards.
You are so meannn.
Really , conscience? Is that you saying I’m mean?
“Focus on the road , Twinkle” Mahi muttered typing on the phone and I shook my head sighing.

“Where are you going tonight?” I question Dad as he fixes his tie and looks at me , “Mr. Sarna organised a cruise party for two days. We succeeded in getting the partnership from The Royals” he explained and I nodded smiling.
“I’ll inform your guys about the wedding dates when I come back , alright?” he kisses the top of my head and went out of the house.
“We can do anything tonightttt” Natasha sings grinning and I nodded , “Anything but alcohol and Dhruv” I smirked and she rolled her eyes pointing towards the screen.
“You pick the first movie. Just go with it or the exorcism of Emily rose”
“Exorcism of Emily rose. Duh” I pressed play earning a loud groan from Maira who isn’t a big fan of horror movies

“Psstt! Twinkle” Mahi poked my thigh again and I glared at her. “I’m not lying. I can hear some voices” she murmured stuffing her face with Pringles and I ignored her going back to watch the movie.
“Twinkle..” Natasha whispered and I look at her frustrated , “Tell me you can see the ghosts now?”
“Didn’t you hear the screech?” Maira hissed and I pointed at the screen , “Probably from the movie , guys. Just stay silent”
I hear another thud but ignored it and gulped down my sprite focusing on the movie again.

Mahi and Maira screamed moving towards my couch knocking out cans and popcorn on the way and I look at the screen blankly.
I press pause and wait for another sound.

“Feels like someone smashing themselves on a door” Natasha whispered from her side of the couch and I swallowed nervously.
“Aaaarghhh” Mahi screamed continuously pressing herself further against me and I held her closely , “What’s wrong?” I frantically searched for my phone as the living room was completely dark.
“Some..one h-held my leg…” she stammered and I grabbed my phone turning on the flash and quickly moved to turn on the lights.
The room was a complete mess but nobody cared at that moment. “You’re just paranoid. There’s noth..” the words dried in my mouth as I heard another thud followed by loud knocks.
The three of them looked at me wide eyed and I slowly sat beside them. “Its coming from the backside garden. We have to take a look” I tried to keep my voice strong but failed.
“Nope” Maira vigorously shook her head and I glared her , “What if I die?” she let out a sigh shrugging her shoulder slightly , “Then we’d be completely sorry”
I passed her a bored look and got up pulling both of them up. Natasha stood up on her own glancing everywhere. “I have this strong feeling…” she trailed looking at me.
She gestured for us to come closer and we sat closely whispering.
“What?” I asked confused and she thought for a while , “Why do I think the boys are involved?” I look at her curiously before my eyes widened. “Of course. Why didn’t I think of that”
“The noise is coming from the backside garden. I’ll quickly peek from my room’s balcony to confirm” I whispered hurriedly and ran off with Natasha towards my room.
I opened the balcony door slowly peeking from the door and saw Rohan who was grinning and talking to Yuvi in a slow voice.
We hurriedly went back , “It’s them”
“All right. Girls , I have a plan” Maira grinned at me and I smiled widely knowing a kickass plan is coming up. She quickly marched towards her room with us following behind.
She closed the door to her room and madly started searching for something. She kept on looking for a while jumping from one drawer to the other. “Ahan!”
She came towards us holding bottles of red liquid and a few knives with some other things. “Why are you pointing knives towards us?” Natasha asks slowly with a gulp and Maira gave her an evil grin.
Within a second she pushed the knife in her stomach and I screamed. Natasha sat there frozen and everything seemed to stop for a second.
But Maira laughed breaking the silence and pulled out the knife , “Its a fake one. I bought all these things to scare some people in college” I blew out a breath and glared at her.
“Could have said that before” I gently shook Natasha and she blinked , “You’re alive” I muttered picking up the bottles, “Fake blood?”
“Yup” Maira nodded sitting on the couch , “We do the ‘tit for tat’ thing,” she quoted and smiled , “They scared us so we scare them too”
“By pretending that we are dead?” Mahi questions trying to put the plan together and Maira nodded. “Exactly. Me and Mahi will be the killers ‘Someone who’s entered the house to rob’ And twinkle would be stabbed by them”
“And Me?” Natasha finally speaks , “You’ll be the one who’s gonna attract those a*sh*les attention”

“Ready?” Mahi and Maira were dressed in baggy clothes most of them borrowed from dad and with masks on their face. No wonder where they got them.
They quickly grabbed their gloves and fake guns. Mind you they looked extremely real.
I quickly glued the knife to my shirt pulling out the silver metal part out of it and covering the area around it with blood.
We went towards the kitchen and I quickly dropped to the floor and Maira settled herself carrying a gun and a knife with Mahi on her other side.
They signalled Natasha who was standing a few feet away from us to scream and so she did. “What did you do?” she yelled spraying some water down her cheeks for fake tears.
“She’ll die. Please leave us alone” she screamed again and we could hear the footsteps nearing the door which led how the backside garden. “Don’t come near me” she screamed quickly grabbing a knife.
“Shut your eyes” Natasha hissed at me slowly and did so.
The door opened and I could hear their footsteps rushing inside. “Natasha- who are You?” I hear Dhruv’s alarmed voice next my head was picked up by someone.
“Twinkle?” I hear Kunj’s whisper and trust me it’s so hard not to smile or laugh. “Don’t move. Stay back” I hear Mahi’s voice which came out like a man speaking.
Man she’s good.
