Yuvani tugged on Krishna’s hand once they entered the store, leading her away from the boys.
“Yuvani!” Sayyam called out, “where are you both going?”
‘Girl talk,’ Yuvani mouthed, while Sayyam could only roll his eyes.
“Girls,” Sayyam sighed, “right Yuvaan?” He glanced at Yuvaan expecting a response, but Yuvaan simply turned around in irritation and walked away, busy with his phone, leaving Sayyam all by himself.

“Krishna…” Yuvani looked at Krishna slyly. “What do you think about bro?”
“That Khadoos!” Krishna exclaimed, surprising Yuvani, “He’s so irritating, you know? But he’s mysterious too. Sometimes, I feel like-”
“I was talking about Yuvaan.”
“Oh.” Krishna paused, her eyes wide open. “Umm, yeah,” she smiled hesitantly, “Yuvaan is nice too. He cares for me.”
“Has he proposed yet?” Yuvani asked, watching Krishna’s face carefully.
“P-proposed?” Krishna bit her lip nervously.
“Yeah,” Yuvani replied coolly, “you both are dating, right?”
“I know, but-” Krishna started to explain, when she was cut off by someone
“Hey,” Sayyam appeared out of nowhere, “What’s going on?” Krishna sighed, relieved that the awkward situation with Yuvani had been avoided.
“Where’s Yuvaan?” Krishna looked behind Sayyam.
“I don’t know,” he shrugged, pointing to the left, “he went that way,”
Yuvani realized that this was the perfect opportunity to leave her brother and Krishna together. “Wait, I’ll go find him,” she huffed, “till then, find something you like, okay Krishna?”
“Okay,” Krishna responded, walking away, while Sayyam trailed close behind her.
Krishna stepped over to the counter and began to examine a sari, when she remembered something. She gasped softly, and Sayyam looked her strangely.
“What happened?” Sayyam asked, looking at the ground.
“Where are you looking?” she followed his gaze and glanced at the ground.
“I was just making sure,” Sayyam said, while Krishna shook her head in confusion. “Listen- whenever girls gasp, it usually means that they’ve seen a bug, so I was just checking” he clarified.
Krishna face palmed in frustration, “No, I just remembered, next week is Yuvaan’s birthday,” she stated.
“So?” Sayyam didn’t understand what the big deal was.
“You idiot, I have nothing to wear!” Krishna snapped, her patience wearing thin. At that moment, a sales woman walked up to them, smiling brightly.
“Hello sir, can I help you and your wife with something?”
“No, he’s not-” Krishna began, when the Saleswoman spoke again.
“It’s hard to find a couple like you both these days, are you both newly-married?” the Saleswoman looked between them. Sayyam burst out laughing, unable to control himself. Krishna had never seen him laugh before, and smiled slightly, watching him double over in laughter.
“No ma’am,” he leaned over, still laughing, “she’s just my…”
“-friend,” Krishna completed for him, “I’m just his friend.” Sayyam looked at her for a second, his head tilted to the side.
“Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t know,” the woman giggled, touching Sayyam’s hand lightly, “Besides, any girl would be lucky to have you as her husband.” Krishna’s gaze shifted between Sayyam and the woman, and she frowned, her eyes narrowing in irritation.
“C’mon,” Krishna pouted, tugging on Sayyam’s arm, “you have to help me pick my outfit.” Sayyam stumbled after her, leaving the lady behind.
“What happened?” Sayyam slipped out of her grasp and stepped away, purposefully putting some distance between the two of them.
“Didn’t you see?” Krishna glared at him.
“See what?” Sayyam questioned, oblivious to what had just happened.
That saleswoman was flirting with you,” Krishna threw her hands up, fed up with his ignorance.
“Arrey, so? Even if you want to be my friend, don’t give yourself so much importance. Besides, I’m not a girl, that she’ll take advantage of me.” Sayyam scoffed.
“You know what?” Krishna retorted, “Leave. Right now.”
“But your outfit-” Sayyam pointed at the counter.
“I don’t need you,” Krishna yelled indignantly.
“Fine,” Sayyam hissed, “but I challenge you: you will call me back yourself and ask me to help you.”
“Challenge accepted,” Krishna replied harshly.
With that, they both stormed away in opposite directions, determined to prove each other wrong.
