Vatsal Sheth started his career with the TV show Just Mohabbat while he was just a teenager. After that there was no looking back for Vatsal as he kept on working in popular TV shows and movies like Ek Hasina Thi , Haasil, and Taarzan: The Wonder Car. Vatsal is now a day creating funny videos with his actress-wife Ishita Dutta Sheth for the social media. Vatsal, who is all set to make his debut in Gujarati films soon has added another feather in his hat by winning the title of the Ahmedabad Times Most Desirable Man 2020.
In a chat with BT Vatsal talked about winning the title and said, “Finally, I have made it! It feels great and I am thankful to Ahmedabad Times for this honour. Also, this wouldn’t have been possible without the love that my fans have showered on me. I just want to thank them for their constant support. Ishita is happier than me with this development”
When asked about the qualities that makes him desirable, he said, “I have always believed in being myself and never tried to be someone else. I think that honesty has really helped me. Someone once told me that the kind of person you are in real life reflects on the screen. Also, I am a very positive person and whatever I do reflects that positivity and honesty.”
Talking about his journey so far in the entertainment industry, he said, “When I look back, it has been a very long journey already! But it has been really amazing because I have got to play different kinds of roles, which includes playing the chocolate boy, negative roles and even playing a ghost in a web show! Right now, I am growing a beard for an upcoming film and I am really excited about it. It’s something that I have never attempted before and I just feel blessed that I have got roles that have been very different from one another.”
During the interview he also talks about the pandemic and how it has impacted him as a person, “During the lockdown last year, while we were stuck home, Ishita and I thought of doing something to try and stay in a positive frame of mind. So, we started creating these funny videos. We hadn’t done much comedy before this but the response we got was truly overwhelming. As a Gujarati, I also feel very happy that a couple of our Gujarati videos did really well. In fact, one of our videos has crossed 49 million views and all these things have happened organically. So, it’s a huge thing for us and we have got messages of appreciation from all over the globe. With more time on my hands, I also tried learning to play the flute and read books. This ongoing pandemic is truly unfortunate and it has been extremely tough for all of us. I have tried to pick up new skills. For actors, working from home isn’t an option and I hope whatever I have learnt will help me in the long run. I try to be optimistic because this prevailing situation won’t last forever and things will improve. The pandemic has made me realise that we take so many things for granted, including the simple pleasures like meeting friends and going out for a walk. Both Ishita and I love travelling and I feel that whenever we travel next, we will cherish it a lot more. I believe that all of us will value our freedom and everything else a lot more once this pandemic is over.”
When asked about his take on the future of the Gujarati film industry, he said, “I am excited about making my debut in Gujarati films and had the situation been normal, our movie would have released last year itself. I think the Gujarati film industry is in a very good space and some amazing films are being made. As a proud Gujarati, I would love to do more Gujarati projects. There’s certainly growing demand for Gujarati content on various platforms and it’s heartening. I also feel very happy when I see Gujarati actors like Pratik Gandhi doing such amazing work and it’s really inspiring.”
