Prominent and veteran actor Gufi Paintal, who was well-known for his role as Shakuni Mama in Mahabharat, has passed away at the age of 78. Gufi Paintal’s son, Harry Paintal, shared a note announcing his father’s demise, stating that he peacefully passed away in the morning, surrounded by family.
Gufi Paintal had been admitted to the hospital and was in critical condition. His final journey will take place today, starting from his house and concluding at the Oshiwara crematorium at 3:30 PM.
In addition to his acting skills, Gufi Paintal also worked as a television director. He had appeared in several popular Bollywood films such as Rafoo Chakkar, Des Pardes, Dillagi, Maidan-E-Jung, and Daava, among others.
His notable works on television include Kanoon, Sauda, Akbar Birbal, Om Namah Shivay, Mrs. Kaushik ki Paanch Bahuein, Karn Sanghini, and more. His last appearance was in the TV show Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki. Gufi Paintal gained immense popularity for his portrayal of Shakuni Mama in the mythological saga Mahabharat, which was one of the most-watched shows of its time, making him a household name.
