Veteran actor Sameer Khakhar passes away at 71
Veteran actor Sameer Khakhar who became a household name with his role as Khopri in the TV show Nukkad passed away today (15 March). The 71-year-old actor was a part of various TV shows and films in the 38 years of his acting career. Sameer had taken a short break from the industry and was settled in the USA.
Later, he returned to India and did two Gujarati plays. In a conversation with ETimes TV, Sameer’s cousin Ganesh Khakhar revealed that he passed away due to multiple organ failures. He said, “He was suffering from respiratory issues, then he went to sleep and went unconscious. We called the doctor and he suggested that we admit him to the hospital. His heart was not working properly and had urinatory issues too. He was kept on a ventilator, gradually he collapsed at 4:30 am this morning.”
Sameer was admitted to M M Hospital, Borivali where he breathed his last. His funeral was held today at 10:30 am at Babhai naka crematorium, Borivali. Talking about his professional life, Sameer did some notable shows on Television including Nukkad, Manorajan, Circus, Naya Nukkad, Shrimaan Shrimati, and Adaalat. He was last seen in Sanjivani which starred Surbhi Chandna and Namit Khanna.
