Part 12: Propose
Sanskar came downstairs, after changing, and saw everyone moving the sofas and the ladies putting sheets on the floor. His gaze went to swara.
He smiles remembering how she called him ‘sanskar’ shyly. She was looking cute, innocent and beautiful in that white salwar suit with pink dupatta. He wonders how someone can look cute, innocent and beautiful at the same time. A feeling was developing in his heart. He is really liking her shy nature, her innocence, her deep talks, her simplicity.
He was standing on the stairs and gazing at swara who was helping shomi and smilingly talking with ragini.
Swara senses someone looking at her. She slowly looks at the stairways and sees sanskar gazing at her with a cute smile on his face. Her heart automatically increased seeing his intense gaze on her.
Laksh came down after changing and was confused seeing sanskar standing on the stair and smiling. He went near him and followed his gaze. He smiled as he saw sanskar and swara sharing an eye lock.
Laksh (monologue): Aww… both of them are having an eyelock. This symptom occurs only in one disease…love. Their feelings for each other is developing in their hearts.
Laksh tapped sanskar’s shoulder making them break their cute eyelock.
Sanskar (hesitating): Oh bhai, when did you come?
Laksh: When you were having your eyelock.
Sanskar: Wh…wh..what?
Laksh wrapped his hand around sanskar’s shoulder.
Laksh: Sanskar, you have a whole life after your marriage, then you stare her as much as you want.
Sanskar: umm…bhai…ahhh…nothing..
Sanskar gets little shy and embarrassed and goes downstairs making laksh chuckle.
Arjun also noticed the eyelock that swara and sanskar shared. He goes near swara.
Arjun: Di
Swara comes into her senses and looks at arjun.
Arjun (teasingly): I know that jiju is very handsome, dashing and cute… but stop staring him like this right now as we have so much work to do.
Swara (little embarrassed): Woh…main…uhh…han, I need to go to the kitchen as the milk is on the stove and it must have boiled by now.
Saying this she ran away to the kitchen. Swara kept her one hand on the slab and another on her left chest where her heart was ready to come out of her chest. She can feel her cheeks getting warm as she remembers sanskar’s intense gaze on her.
Swara (monologue): What’s happening to me? Why does my heartbeat increases when he looks at me. My cheeks automatically get red when I hear his name. Whenever I look into his eyes, I feel like drowning in them? What is this new feeling in my heart?
She closes her eyes and takes a deep sigh and smiles.
All the family members sat in a circle. Soon swara came out with a tray in her hand, which had glasses of saffron milk for everyone. Swara served the milk to everyone. After serving the milk, she looked around to have a seat and there was only one space, which was between sanskar and ragini. It was all ragini, laksh and arjun’s plan. It was like Ragini, laksh, arjun, shekhar, shomi, sujata, rp and then sanskar.
Arjun: let’s start with truth or dare
Ragini: yup
Arjun: ok…so I will spin this bottle
Arjun put the bottle in the middle and spun the bottle and it stopped at rp.
Laksh: Woohh…papa, what will you choose, truth ot dare?
Rp: dare
Sanskar: Nice one….
Ragini: I’ve got a dare for you… propose ma
Sujata (little shy): Ragini..
Rp: Ok done…
Sujata (widened her eyes): Ramji, you too.
Rp held sujata’s hand.
Rp: sujju (sujata widened her eyes more whereas Arjun and laksh whistled) you have been a great life partner who has always supported me in my thick and thins. You have me two obedient sons who have your values. I just want to say that I love you sujata.
Everyone go like ‘aww’ after hearing rp.
Laksh: Mom, stop blushing and give reply
Sujata: shut up laksh. He was given dare not me… ok
Laksh giggles. Arjun spun the bottle again and it stopped on him.
Laksh: so Mr arjun gadodia, truth or dare.
Arjun: hmm… truth
Ragini: tell us a secret which we don’t know
Arjun (grinning widely): yes… I have one secret which even ma does not know
Shomi (narrowing her eyes): What is it?
Arjun (grinning naughtily): ma, do you remember… when me and di were small… and baba used to bring ice cream or rasogulla, the next morning you used to find that there is less amount of them.
Swara widens her eyes and immediately looks at Shekhar. Sanskar noticed swara’s facial expression and smiles seeing her cute expression.
Shomi (raising her one eyebrow): What about that?
Shekhar: Arjun! You want a car… right
Arjun nods.
Shekhar: then stop right there
Shomi: Arjun, don’t concentrate on Shekhar. And don’t worry about the car… you just continue what you were saying.
Swara gulps while Arjun looked at swara with the corner of his eyes whereas Shekhar was giving Arjun death glares to him.
Arjun: it was none other than (Swara closed her eyes) Swara di, who used to wake up at midnight and go to the kitchen with baba to eat rasogulla and ice cream.
Everyone’s mouth shaped in ‘o’ except of swara and Shekhar
Shomi: Shonaa!
Swara opens her eyes and says cutely, “Sorry ma but what can I do? You know how much I love rasogulla. It tempts me a lot. Sorry. I will not eat from now on.”
Shomi makes an angry face but later a smile crept on her face.
Shomi: it’s okay beta.
Everyone smiles at swara’s cuteness.
Sanskar (whispers without anyone’s notice): waise, I didn’t know that you were mischievous during your childhood.
Swara (whispers): every child has naughtiness in them
Sanskar: really
Swara smiles and says, “Why, you didn’t do any masti in your childhood.”
Sanskar: Who knows?
Swara looks down shyly. The bottle was again and it was stopped at laksh.
Ragini: Finally, laksh… truth or dare
Laksh: truth
Arjun: when did you fell in love with ragini di?
Laksh: after few meetings with her, I eventually fell in love.
Ragini blushes. Arjun spun the bottle and it stopped at swara.
Arjun (excitedly): finally it stopped at di… so di? Truth or dare?
Swara (thinking for sometime): dare
Ragini: sing a song for us. You don’t know Swara, how eager we are to hear your magnificent voice.
Arjun: I will bring di’s guitar
Saying this he ran towards swara’s room and brought her guitar. Everyone’s eyes were in Swara. She closed her eyes and started singing.

All maheshwaris were impressed by her melodious voice, specially Sanskar who was totally hypnotised by her voice. He felt as if this song was for him only. Everyone clapped for swara.
Sujata: wah Swara, your voice is so melodious. It gives peace in our heart. God bless you beta.
Like this they kept playing truth and dare for about half and hour.
Shomi: I think we should all go to bed as we all are going to picnic so we have to wake early
Sujata: true shomiji
Arjun: ma, Aunty… please one last spin
Shomi: only last one
Arjun spun the bottle and it stopped at Sanskar.
Arjun: ah han! jiju… truth or dare
Sanskar: dare
Laksh (smiles naughtily): I have a prefect dare for you
Sanskar was little scared as the way laksh was smirking.
Laksh: you have to propose Swara for marriage
Sanskar (shocked): what! Bhai… I mean how can I?
Ragini: arrey, what do you mean ‘how can I?’ None of us had problem I that… am I right?
Everyone except swara, “correct”
Sanskar (pleadingly): can’t I get another dare.
Laksh: Sanskar, it’s a dare and you have to do it.
Sanskar looked at swara who was looking down at the floor, her cheeks were blood red and was playing with her fingers.
Arjun: stand up di.
Swara slowly stands up and was biting her lips due to nervousness and shyness. Sanskar sighs as he knows that their family members will not leave him if he will not complete the dare.
He sits on his one knee, hold swara’s both hands and looked up at her. Swara shyly looked at sanskar.
Sanskar (softly): Swara, I know we are tied into this pious relationship called marriage. Our marriage has not happened yet but you are my fiancée. At first, we were completely strangers. Slowly, we stared to get to know each other. Everyday I am getting to know something new about you which surprises me but I like those every shade of yours. Your eyes are so beautiful that it has power to hypnotise anyone. They are the mirror of your inner feelings. Your deep thoughts and innocence were be first thing which impressed me…. or I would say attracted me towards you. I am liking your innocence, your care, your shyness. I want to discover more about you and your hidden shades. I can’t say that I love you but I believe that I will definitely fall in love with you soon. Your parents have already given your hand in my hand but still I want to ask that will you marry me and give me the right to fall in love with you.
Shekhar, shomi and Arjun got little moist eyes seeing this but they were very happy to have Sanskar. The maheshwaris were in shock seeing Sanskar little romantic side. They have only seeing him doing masti with family members, working 24/7 but listening to his talks… they got to know that their bholuram is romantic too. Swara was looking into his eyes where she can see admiration for her, loyalty and honesty. Her heart was beating unevenly and was feeling as if her whole world stopped. Whereas Sanskar was looking into her eyes curiously… waiting for an answer.
Laksh was the first one to come out of shock and started clapping.
Laksh: wah mere sher… wah… I am proud of you. Swara… we are waiting for your answer… answer him fast otherwise his knees will start paining.
Sanskar looks at laksh and gives him ‘please stop it look’. His world took a 360 degrees turn when he heard her answer.
Swara (shyly): Yes
Sanskar looked at her with a wide smile on his face. At least he got to know that she also likes him and his happiness is having no bounds.
Everyone clapped for the heavenly couple infront of them who will soon fall in love with each other.
Sanskar stood up but not leaving her hands.
Everyone started to go to their rooms giving them privacy. swasan were having a cute little eyelock expressing their admiration for each other. Soon it was broken by swara who realised that everyone went away. Swara took her soft hands back and was having a constant shy smile on her lips.
She started to go but stopped as Sanskar called her name.
Sanskar: Swara
She stopped but didn’t have courage to turn around and look at him.
Sanskar: whatever I said, I genuinely mean it. It was all from my heart.
Swara immediately turned around and looked at him surprisingly and what not. She was totally speechless.
Swara: good night
Saying this she ran away to the room leaving a smiling Sanskar behind.
